The North Face Aviatrix Down Jacket - Women's

The North Face Women's Aviatrix Down Jacket combines a bomber-jacket style with big-mountain features like a HyVent shell and 600-fill insulation. An internal media pocket holds your MP3 player, so you can rock out to the Top Gun soundtrack when you're ripping. Thanks to the extra insulation provided by this jacket, you'll stay nice and toasty while all your friends shiver on the lift. The North Face also made the hood's faux fur lining removable for the times when you don't want the full-on bomber style.

Bottom Line: Prepare for takeoff.

not what I hoped for

The jacket feels well insulated and looks nice, but it is extremely short. I know I have the correct size because the sleeves fit well but the bottom doesn't come close to reaching my waist. You might want to check it out at the store before ordering online.

I would get the M because there's nothing worse than having a jacket that is too short in the sleeves or too short at the waist.

Keep your core warm

This is a great coat for casual and around town wear here in Alaska. I wear it when I walk the dog, go ice skating, go out on the town, etc. It is a cute pocket of warmth in an otherwise cold, dark world. I wouldn't wear it for snowboarding because it lacks technical attributes such as length, a powder skirt, or pit zips...

How many inces do you meassure at the jacket size S, from the armpits of the jacket down to the end of it?

A jacket's length is determined by measuring from center of the back, top down to the bottom. In this case a size small would be about 24''.

Rockin' jacket

Great quality...I wouldn't expect anything less from North Face. The pockets are plentiful to store away chapstick, phone, camera, etc. Jacket sleeves are very long which are perfect for my arms, but if you have shorter arms, keep that in mind. Love the length!! This jacket is a shorter length; the Hyvent falls below the waist and the nylon lining at the bottom at least covers the belt line. I love that it is a WARM winter jacket that still shows of my figure! I bought the nightsky blue and love the color! Last thing...it is definently roomy enough to wear over another layer such as a fleece. Will enjoy this jacket for years to come.

how long is this jacket? Im 5'5 and all the new north face jackets are too short for me and it gets annoying having to constantly pull it down.

I am 5'9", and the jacket at least covers my belt line (wearing low rise jeans). You may still have instances of having to pull it down, particularly if you are bending down to pick up something up per say; but personally I would rather that as I prefer jackets that do not hinder my movement around the waist area such as jackets that fall below the bum. Hope that helps; Good luck with your jacket search.
