The North Face Helicity Windstopper Down Jacket - Women's
Stay warm on the cold, windy mountaintop when you wear The North Face Women’s Helicity Windstopper Down Jacket. Gore Windstopper material shields your core in blustery conditions, and down insulation holds onto your body heat. With a performance fit, The North Face Helicity layers under a shell in really wet conditions.
Bottom Line: Only a brick wall blocks the wind better.

bought this jacket for my girlfriend, absolutely bombproof. skied twice in it this year in weather less than 20 degrees and she only had to wear a t-shirt underneath. tons of compliments as well.

It's a very bright color, but the jacket's fabric doesn't get dirty easily.

Nice jacket, but there are 2 things...

Overall a nice jacket. Would be better if the hood was different. The hood does not fill well, always tugging to keep it down on your head. The other thing is it needs a powder skirt, as it would stop with the draft the comes up the bottom the a jacket.

How's the material quality of this jacket compared to The North Face Destiny Down Jacket, except the wind resistance difference? Are those two jackets made with the same "down"? Just there're so many down jackets out there with very big price range....always wondering about the quality of each "down" used...Besides, which one is longer - Destiny or this one? Thanks!

They've both got great material quality. The Helicity is obviously going to be warmer especially in extremely windy conditions. You'll notice a fairly big difference with this jacket being 700 fill and the Destiny being 600 fill. They use the same down in both though. All of my TNF down jackets are great! I really love them, well they're not my favorite but they're really nice. My wife's favorite is her backcountry.com Luft 800 Down Sweater which is 800 fill down. You can't go wrong with TNF though. They use great stuff. Also, the Helicity is just a couple, well 2 or 3 inches longer than the Destiny jacket.Hope that helps.

Good but not Great...

Got my jacket about 2 months ago and have had time to test it in our wonderful winter weather recently (Iowa)... It's warm, has room underneath of it for layers, but it is SHORT (only hits at my hip) and I don't really get the 1/2 hood? The hood doesn't fully cover your head... maybe this is a feature I don't fully understand, but not ideal for trying to stay warm on winter treks. The shortness is what really gets me though, without a longer layer underneath you may experience icy blasts on your midriff. It's a bit bulky- but not too bad. I like it overall... just wish it was about 2-3 inches longer!

How many layers can you wear under this? It looks like only thin layers will fit. Also, to what temperature would you say this coat is good for? Thanks!

I wear this jacket every single day to ride my horses in, and the best part is that I can fit a baselayer AND a fleece jacket underneath. That way, once I am warmed up I can take it off while I work and then put it right back down to cool the horse after we work. I HIGHLY recommend this jacket.

No complaints at all about this coat. I just moved to Iowa from Seattle and thought it might be overkill, but not at all. I also think it's a bit more flattering than most down jackets I've tried on.
Is there another coat that would compate to The North Face Helicity
Is there another coat that would compate to The North Face Helicity Windstopper Down Jacket - Women'sItem #TNF3444, but be a little less price wise?

I'm not sure what you are comparing to, but here are a few things to look at that might help! They are all below $200.1. 700 fill down - Thats a pretty decent rating, it'll be really packable and warm with less weight. If weight is not primary, you can probably go down to 650 or 600 fill down, that will cost less. Maybe the Mountain Hardwear Sub-Zero? http://www.backcountry.com/store/MHW0933/Mountain-Hardwear-S

Love this coat! I've worn it on lift-access skiing in temps under 15 degrees and I was warm and comfortable. I've been cold in every other jacket I've owned. The fit is cute also.
I'm 5'4' and bought a small. It comes down just a little below my waist.

this jacket was okay. it was really warm but too puffy for me. It was also a little short on me but i also have a really long torso. I did end up returning this jacket and purchasing a different north face jacket.
Runs small

Loved the color, but the fit was very narrow and no XL made. Had to return it.
Purchased a MT. Hardware down instead. Found it let the wind in through the zipper...they need a placket over it! Otherwise lovely.
Nice Sticking

I purchased this coat for the warmth. This is a warm coat but, I have used warmer. What I really love about this coat is the sticking of the down. The back which is not shown has great sticking too. I have warn this coat for about 2 weeks and have gotten several comments from other women that they like the cut and the sticking. This is the perfect coat for around town on the weekend, after hitting the slopes. If you plan on being outside for a long time on cold night. I would find a coat that has a longer cut.
