The North Face Purgatory Multisport Shoe - Men's
Scramble up a ravine, fastpack the Crest Trail, or crush the Ultimate league favorites in a rainy, mud-covered upset. Fact is, you can do it all and do it well in The North Face Purgatory Multisport Shoe, thanks to a gusseted softshell upper, welded support framework and omnidirectional Vibram outsole. Whether the terrain is wet or dry, flat or funky, snow-covered or slickrock, the weather-resistant Purgatory performs admirably in a wide variety of situations, and it's even light enough to be a decent trail runner.
Bottom Line: Do it all and do it well in The North Face Purgatory Multisport Shoe.

Very comfy shoe...

I have wide feet and this shoes has plenty of room at the widest part and toe box area.
It's holding up pretty dry inside the shoe here in Seattle's wet weather (although there are better water resistant shoes) but I can't see myself wearing this in the summer unless I want soggy socks (my feet sweat more that most people. There are no vents or mesh).
I love the traction this shoe has while playing field sports, tread is holding up well so far.
I tend to tear my shoes up very quickly and will update this if they apart faster than normal.
Buggy out!

I used this shoe for the JMT last summer. Carried an average of 40-45 lbs for the duration. My only mistake and recommendation is to replace the insoles with montrail insoles or superfeet. The vibram sole was great on and off trail and held up perfectly to the abuse. The synthetic upper was excellent for keeping my foot cool, yet if I fell in the water, which I did, they quickly dried. My opinion is the shoe is made for someone that DOES NOT have a narrow foot. I also typically wear a 12 in TNF shoes, but actually sized down to a 11.5 in this shoe. I was so happy with the shoe after my trip I bought another pair.
If I have a narrow foot, will I be happy with these shoes if
If I have a narrow foot, will I be happy with these shoes if I want to use them for trail running?

I wouldn't personally. I have narrow feet as well and TNF shoes were always too wide. Take a peek at La Sportiva's. They're a much narrower shoe.Hope that helps.

Wrong. They don't. Read the Tech Specs.

No Gore Tex in these shoes, but treat them with some Nixwax and you can get the morning due to bead up on the shoe. Definitely not waterproof, but the upper portion of the shoe dries extremely fast. Its a synthetic material.

The shoes fit so I'm wearing them - and loving them. They are lighter than I expected. Great tread. Breathable. Very sturdy. Be wary: the red is a little brighter than it looks.
Great shoes, already looking for a deal on a another pair

After becoming a faithful floower of New Balance for the last 10 years for thier rugged construction and great fit, I decided to try out a pair of TNF Purgatory trail runners. Great shoes. They are comfortable, work well with my orthodic insoles, they feel solid, they have great traction, and the Gortex shell works great keeping my feet dry on wet and muddy days.
My only comment is that I wish they would wrap around my ankle a bit tighter the way my NB 811s do. Other than that, they run a bit small, but over all a great pair of shoes. Especially at $65 on sale!
I would buy another pair of these (at $75 or less).
