The North Face Terra 40 Backpack - 2450cu in
Pack your gear and a just-in-case sleeping bag in The North Face Terra 40 Backpack. The North Face's suspension system adjusts to fit your torso length, and an open-air mesh trampoline across the back panel keeps your back cool. If an overnight stay is part of your plan, zip your sleeping bag into the lower bag compartment. Pull on the Terra 40 Backpack and tighten the hip-belt to transfer some weight off your shoulders. As the day heats up, take off a layer and stash it in the front stretch pocket. When you stop to enjoy the view, secure your trekking poles in the pole-loops so they don't tumble off the mountain.
Bottom Line: The North Face Terra 40 Backpack carries gear for a long day on the trail and a sleeping bag for emergency overnights.

Hey all! I'm very interested in the Terra 40 or 60 for weekend camping (3-4 day). It seems like either of these packs would work. Any other ideas for a weekend pack for 3-4 days, holds sleeping bag, same amount of room, but also has a break away pack for hiking? Also, what are your thoughts on TNF Extreme 60 backpack?

This is a great pack for anyone who is looking for something that is durable, adjustable, decent amount of room and that is very comfortable. I recently got to use this pack on a 4 day camping trip. I am someone who packs as light as possible. I prefer not to even bring a tent when I camp, and this pack made it for me. The only down side I found to this pack was the weight. It is almost 4lbs for a 2450cu in pack. I currently also have the GoLite Pinnacle pack as my ultralight backpack and the weight difference is pretty amazing. But, besides that this is a great pack. I would highly recommend it for anyone who is doing overnights or maybe a weekend hike (depending on how you pack).

Took this to Burning Man to hold my clothes and sleeping gear. Held lots of gear, very sturdy, never let me down! Great pack, though I wish I'd bought something larger

Such a great price for this pack. Love the pocket selection, and the pack carries gear well and fits nicely once you get it all situated and fit to your body.

Great pack for those weekend camping trips. Easy access for the sleeping bag at the bottom so you don't have to pull out other gear just to get to it. Numerous pockets to store lot of small thing you may want to get to without unloading stuff. The back support is great. Once the straps are snug the pack stays firm, no movement whatsoever. So far the best pack I have owned.

Has anyone else gotten a rain cover like one of the reviewers has found?

I just got mine a few weeks ago and no rain cover was included. Looks some may have gotten lucky.

Great pack for weekend trips, and I plan on using it for my 7-day excursion through Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks...most comfortable pack I've ever worn...and the sleeping bag goes in the bottom compartment, for the guy who said it goes on top.

This backpack is awesome! The weight belt is comfortable and easy to adjust. I only wish it had a pocket and clip for my camel back bladder. I made due. Everything else about this pack is wonderful. Great for a trip up to two weeks!

though its seems kinda small, its all the space you really need if you are down for backpacking and mild climbing. (in CA at least)
ive used this pack on like 40 mile hikes and crossing catalina island. i like and so does my back--compared to my friends using golites or jansports. as comfy as arcteryx stuff but not nearly as expensive.

This is a great overnight pack. I love to use this on short overnight stays, or this is also great for some traveling. It is amazing how you can fit into this pack. I how so much space to use. This is much better some other overnight packs that I have used. One feature that is really nice is that the sleeping bag compartment. It is great to use for you sleeping bag, but also it has a removable separator so you can also pack it with clothing for those longer travel day. Also it is pretty light weight and has great shoulder supports that keep you cool.

I have not yet tested the backpack, but deviant from the product description above there is a yellow rain cover included in the left water bottle pocket.
