The North Face Youth Terra 55 Backpack - Kids' - 2008
When your kids start carrying their own loads into camp The North Face engineered the Youth Terra 55 Backpack, a comfortable and durable backpack that forges futures in the backcountry. The Youth Terra 55 Backpack's Optifit suspension system allows your child to adjust the suspension straps to their particular build and specifications, while the Verti-Cool back panel contributes to keep them comfortable and ventilated. Access through the top and the sleeping bag compartment mean they can get to their warmer layers and sleeping bag easily and quickly. Your kids appreciate the Youth Terra 55 Backpack's diversity of pockets, lash points, and loops so they can hang out their wet shoes, strap up their hiking poles, or collect neat trail samples on the go. When you need to carry more than a couple water bottles, or just want your kids to have water at their lips, the North Face Youth Terra 55 Backpack features hydration system compatibility.
Bottom Line: Earth needs young protectors – take your kids backpacking.

What ages or sizes is this pack designed for? My kids are 7 and 9 and currently carry their water and sleeping bags in traditional back packs (which is uncomfortable for them to pack and me to watch).

My scout troop is between the ages 11 and 16. A few of them have either the Terra 55 or 60. I would recommend this backpack to any child.

The pack did not arrive via the shipper on the scheduled date. Good thing it was ordered in advance of the trip. I called the Backcountry telephone representative and he had the packed shipped by air and it arrived the very next day. Great service. First of all the pack is roomy and well constructed. Just about everything is adjustable which is really nice. Great size for a three - four day trek. My son broke it in hiking Pictured Rocks in Michigan. I expect this pack to last him for several years to come.
