The North Face Beeline Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down

The North Face Beeline 900 30-Degree Down Sleeping Bag is a lightweight sleeping bag designed to keep you warm on fast-paced cool-weather expeditions. The North Face uses the lightest, highest quality, most compressible goose down available. This all-natural, 850-fill power down provides excellent warmth without the weight or bulk of most bags—the regular size Beeline weighs in at just over a pound. The 100% nylon HelioLite ripstop shell is soft, easily compressed, and contributes to this sleeping bag's overall light weight. As further testament to The North Face's obsession with creating the lightest cool-weather bag possible, they used a heat transfer logo instead of embroidery to save thread weight.

Bottom Line: When you're making a Beeline to the summit, pack this ultralight sleeping bag and pack peace of mind.

TNF Beeline 900 30-degree sleeping bag

With no zipper, how do you use this bag in warmer weather? It seems to me you would either roast or freeze. After trying it on, I was also concerned about how well it would work in my hammock.

Perfect bag for me

By:

The beeline is my pride and joy. It is the lightest reasonable bag out there. My biggest fear when I bought the bag was that it wouldn't give me enough room in the legs; I haven’t found that to be a problem at all with the zippered footbox. Although, finagling your way into a zipperless bag can be a pain in the bottom bunk at a shelter, I think that's far less of a problem than the hassle of carrying around a heavier bag when you’re on the move.

The best three season bag out there!

By:
January 2, 2007

Beeline faces heavy competition to be the lightest down sleeping bag on the market. I think 30F bags are probably the best choice for three seasons especially warm sleepers. I have tried 35F and 40F bags, but I did get cold during late fall season. Marmot Atom is top rated by Backpacker Magazine and Outside Magazine for quality, weight, and performance. But it is rated down to 40F. This was the ultimate factor which Beeline was my final choice. I am 5'11" and about 168Lbs and although this bag is zipperless, I can easily slide right in and wiggle around at night. I don't miss the zipper at all. The elastic cords around the hood easily shortened or elongated. This bag is so light it feels like I am floating (little over 1Lb). The shell is so soft it looks delicate, but it is tough enough for me. Well made bag. I think 30F is a bit overrate for warm sleepers. I did sleep one night when it was about mid 30's and I was little cold (I am a warm sleeper). I would rate this bag as a 35F bag. It compressed to size of a large grapefruit. I love this bag. Beautiful, well made, light, can't go wrong! Marmot Atom, you have met your match! :)

Featherweight

I couldnt believe that a bag this light could insulate the way the Beeline did. TNF has truly designed and engineered one of the lightest and most compact bags I have ever used. It honestly compressed down to the size of a grapefruit and yet kept me warm with temps hovering in the low 30's. However, I do NOT recommend this bag to anyone with claustrophobia or that wants a roomy bag. This is truly a form fitting bag that is cut tight to keep the heat in. Love it!

Only Bring what is needed....

This 30F sleeping bag is exactly what you need. No more, no less. It packs super small. I like that my sleeping bag is so light that I can use the extra weight on a nice comfortable sleeping pad.
