The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's
The North Face's Paramount Convertible Pants have legs that zip off at mid-thigh to make shorts. They're water-repellent and quick drying, making them perfect for your trek on the Inca Trail, your visit to Sri Lanka during monsoon season, or anywhere rain may threaten. Incredibly durable, the Paramount Convertibles have double needle stitching and bartacks throughout—and they're still lightweight! Plenty of pockets, including two right side utility and two cargo, are waiting to be stuffed with your compass, an energy bar, keys, whatever!
Bottom Line: Travel wisely and pack light—get the Paramount Convertible Pant-Short and kill two birds with one stone.

In jeans I wear 34 waist by 34 inseam. It looks like I should order a Meduim Long. Appreciate any suggestions.

I wear the same size and the med Long fit perfect. It is harder to find all the colors in that size or to find them on sale but they are worth the trouble and full price. kf

You cannot beat these pants, they are worth the money. I have a few pair and wear them 6 days a week for work, school, and playing in the outdoors. I LOVE all the pockets! They seem to be pretty true to size. I like the dune beige the best. People do not even think they are backpacking pants!

i own two pairs, and they are rock solid. very durable nylon, not like the thin material you find in columbia brands. i frequently have to bushwhack to the good fishing holes, and these things slide right through prickers and brambles.
i'm not sure if they changed the design or not, i've owned mine for 3 years now. maybe the other reviewer bought them recently and they are different...

THESE PANTS SUCK. If you are expecting to get the same North Face Paramount Convertible that you may have purchased a couple of years ago, run away. I have several pairs of North Face Paramount, these aren't those. North Face has made changes to the fabric, cut, fit and styling and none of them good. I travel, fish, hike and fly, the original Paramount Convertible has been my favorite for many years - these just aren't up to the quality of the previous version. If you like mediocrity at a high price then this pant is for you. Anyone that thinks that these are great pants needs to shop around. North Face shot themselves in the foot with this one.

I like to travel, backpack, fish, and basically spend time in the elements. I needed great fit, quick dry, medium weight, and lots of pockets, and easy zip-off pant legs for when it gets hot. The pants even have belt loops although they come with an encased belt built in. And a little bit of elastic band in the back for a comfy fit. Did I mention the "crotch" of the pants don't come down to my knees, so you get a better fit. I looked for years to find pants to replace the two pair I have worn absolutely, completely OUT, and this is it. I depend on my gear to perform.

I work in a wharehouse environent and some times I am outside. Since it's the summer season these pants are just awesome, no worries with the heat and legs are easily removed when needed. I am thrilled to have purchased these pants.

great pants. I have been wearing cotton zip offs for years and i did not think the nylon ones would be as tough but these are. I wish i would have invested in them years ago. I have already worn them to the Amazon and the Andes(12500+') and to church.

I have 2 pairs of these pants. I love the pocket on the right thigh..great for a compass, flashlight or similar object. I was disappointed when the butt of one pair split after a 100 yard glissade when descending a 14er in CO. I plan to sew them up and see how much more abuse they will take.

These are great pants, I have used them in warm and cold weather they work well in all conditions, they dry fast if they get wet from rain or snow. I have had them in waist deep snow in the Rockies of British Columbia , to rain in the Caribou Mountains of Idaho, to 8 degree wind and snow in the Laramie Mountains of Wyoming. Next stop for these pant Holy Cross Wilderness Colorado. They fit true to size, they wear well, wash after wash. I have four pair.

bought these pants for their weight, durability, convertibility and over all quick access to ALOT of handy and useful items when on a trail. Haven't gotten to test them on a 'trail' yet, however, I bought these pants based on reviews here and other sites all over....I got these pants 3 days ago and prayed for hell and thunder, lol, and that's what I got was God's Kentucky fury with wind gusts of up to 60mph when I set out on my 3 miles hike....
All I can say is this...will be the PERFECT pair of pants for my AT hike next year and I gotta get another pair...
CON
Buyer beware!
I'm 5'7" and am 32" waist with a 31" length. I bought the medium sized regulars and they are about 4" TOO long (others complain bout sizes and fit obviously), I am fortunate enough to know a great seamstress who can easily remedy my problem. SO, if you're about a 33-34" waist you truly ought to try the medium regulars...just sayin...mine are WAY too long (tuckin em in boots and that's not kewl!). Also even with the waist strap cinched up on the pants they are still slightly too baggy in the hips. I refuse a belt cuz I'm goin lite on the trail....hell, a string would work, lol!!!!
BUT PERFECT PANTS THAT CAN BE MADE A PERFECT FIT!!!!!!!!!

My father and I picked up a pair of these at a dicks sporting goods after i had been looking around at which pair of convertibles i wanted to get. These were definitely the right choice. These things are super comfortable and really light. They offer great protection to your legs whether it be sun, wind, or bush that you would be worried about. I will definitely be picking up extra pairs of these. A must buy!

I am a woman, and could not find any hiking pants I liked in the women's section. These men's fit great! Took them down into the Grand Canyon when we camped- they are so comfortable. Easy to change into the shorts when the weather changes, and back to pants again as the air cooled on the way up. I still wear them around all the time, as I like how they look, and have a great pair of shorts as a bonus.

I recently purchased my most recent pair of these pants only because my wife accidentally got some bleach spots on my originals. Although a little steep, these are the only pants in the closet that I would have had to have a direct replacement for. The good news is now I have a pair of awesome work pants, and a new pair to wear every day!

This is my second pair of these pants. I love the material. Very abrasion resistant (ie stands up to thorns and other prickey weeds). Also dries quickly. One feature I love is the pocket on the right leg. Perfect size and location for a compass. I accidentally ordered green. If you live in the midwest, I would Highly recommend khaki...easier to spot ticks. Little buggers are hard to see against green pants.

These pants are extremely comfortable and versatile. I bought my first pair about two months ago and recently ordered another pair. These pants are very quick to dry and store well in a pack or suitcase. My only issue with these pants is the seat can be a little confiding when sitting down. These pants are terrific for hiking and repel ripping against thorns and brush.

Great pants. Good for hiking and for business casual (good enough for me - leaving for the Peace Corps and these pants cover all the bases). The help I received through customer service was very helpful and very convenient.

Great overall pants, ideal for hiking or just hanging around. They dry in no time flat and are very comfortable. There is plenty of room in the legs to allow for gear in pockets, breathability, and hidden leg strappings (knives etc...). The zippers are quick to come off when the going gets hot, and almost as fast to zip back on when terrain or weather changes. Pockets are large enough to stow most anything, and with the handy loops on the waist you can add a knife, light, compass, phone, or whatever you see fit. Great versatility with these pants, a must have for the avid camper/hiker/outdoorsman or just awesome pants in general if you don't demand performance on a daily basis you'll always have them if you need them. If there was a 10 star rating these would be worthy of such a distinction.
