How water resistant is this jacket? And is there any reason it couldn't be sprayed with a water-resistance aerosol spray?

Flag

This jacket is not especially water resistant. It'll shed a light drizzle, but it's not a raincoat. The only downside of spraying it down would be that you might lose its breathability.
