The North Face Horizon Utility Pant - Women's

The North Face made the Women's Horizon Utility Pants with lightweight, UPF 30-rated nylon fabric to keep you comfortable on hikes where you'd like shorts but the underbrush makes it a bad idea. Buttons on the legs hold the cuffs when you roll them up for a stream crossing or just to get a little extra ventilation. The North Face added an internal drawcord, so you won't be out of luck if you pull on the Horizon Utility Pants at the trailhead and find that you forgot your belt. *Not available for shipment to Canada.

Bottom Line: The North Face prepares you for those hot (but pants-mandatory) days on the trail with their Horizon Utility Pants.

Great Hiking Pants

By: bribendiba(19)

These pants are lightweight, durable, and comfortable. They keep me cool when it's hot out and the ability to convert these into capris is very useful. I've read the other reviews and am surprised at how the length varies on people of the same height. I'm 5'4" and the regulars fit perfect in length although I tend to like my pants a little long. Drawcord works fine on its own. I don't like wearing belts when I'm hiking, so having that drawcord is key. It may loosen with time, but it only takes a second to re-tie it. It doesn't say anything in the description about these being quick dry, but I was swimming in pools in canyons and they seemed to dry pretty quick. A lot faster than my buddies who were wearing cotton pants.

Hated the Fit

By: Steezy Steph(50)

I hated the way these pants fit. They were a bit small. I usually wear North Face size 8 and this size 8 was really uncomfortable. I choose comfort over style and these were not my favorite pants. I returned them. If I ordered size 10, they might have been better.

Cute

These are very cute and stylish considering they are utility pants for hiking. Very comfortable & I would highly recommend them. Sometimes I wear a size 4 or 6. I went with 6 and they fit perfectly. They can shrink a bit if you dry them but not much.

Great multi-purpose pants

Just bought these for our trip to Costa Rica. We were going to be doing some fast moving around (short trip- lots of ground to cover). We were also there during the rainy season, and you really can't predict the downpours. I loved that they rolled up, although they are light weight so I really didn't need to use that feature much. They have a very flattering fit (which matters if you plan to take lots of photos) and they were so durable! I wore them the majority of the trip and they never looked as though they were dirty- best thing I packed, hands down. Unbelievably quick-drying, whether from rain or sweat! I'm 5'4" and the petite pants were the exact length I needed.

I bought these pants and just love how they fit and the ease of movement. I have a hard time finding a waist size that fits well, so the adjustable tie waist is great. They are lightweight for hot days, yet the material is durable and provide protection when hiking or fishing. Wish I would have found these years ago. You can be sure they will be packed on our trip to Alaska!

The only flattering hiking/travel pants I've ever been able to find. These are roomy and allow for movement without being overly baggy and fits even a petite woman like myself very well! I took it traveling to a very hot place and they were perfect.

Excellent pant for traveling, hiking or everyday use. Casual, fits great. Got the petite size and the material used is so light! I was very happy with this purchase.

Funny, unlike another reviewer, my 4R pants were way too long and I am also 5' 4". I love them though, lightweight, VERY comfy. At 5' 4" 118 lbs. my 4R fit perfectly except for length. I will order 4S next time so I won't need to have them hemmed. It would be nice if they were water resistant...but hard to have everything. You'll love 'em!

Great pants!

By: stirwise(2)

I bought these for an upcoming trip where I will be doing a considerable amount of hiking. These pants are very comfortable. I chose my size based exclusively on my measurements and The North Face size chart and the pants fit perfectly. Because I'm 5'4" I was a little worried that the "regular" length would be too long, but it is just right. The material is really lightweight and, at least with the slate gray color, a little transparent. I won't be wearing any brightly colored or patterned underpants with these, not unless I feel like showing off my knickers. ;) There are two buttons on each pant leg to hold up the cuffs when rolled up, and they work. Unlike some pants that only put a button on one side of each leg, these genuinely convert the pants into capris. The drawcord at the waist seems more for style than functionality, as it doesn't truly replace a belt, it loosens up with time.

For me they were a true fit: I'm 5'4 and weigh about 123 lbs. I ordered the size 4S because I didn't want to get them hemmed. The fit was perfect. As the week wore on and they loosened a bit the tie at the waist came in handy (otherwise I didn't need it in the beginning).

I wear these hiking, i wear these to work, they are great weekend pants! The pants are extremely durable; they didn't snag on branches or on thorn bushes and kept my legs protected during my hikes. Also they pair up well with my north face thermals in cooler temps.

Great Hiking Pants!!

By: Britney(3)
April 22, 2008

These pants are very lightweight. Great for hot days when you don't want to bake in the sun or scratch-up your legs. Normally hiking pants are too short for me. I ordered the regular length and they are perfect. I originally ordered the long but they were very, very long. They are baggy through the leg but they make my butt look cute! (Incase the bears are checking me out)

Bought these for the wife to hike in. She loves them. Nice, non-abrasive materials, breathes well, and light, yet durable. They fit well too... no flat horse butt here. I will likely buy another pair soon.
