The North Face Bandwidth Backpack - 1850 cu in

The North Face Bandwidth Backpack holds your laptop on your way to work or to class. This pack also has pockets for your audio player, power cord, and water bottles keep things organized. Two accessory pockets in the main compartment, plus a secondary compartment, help prevent that dreaded five-minute search through the black-hole of one-compartment backpacks. The Bandwidth Backpack's ultra-padded shoulder straps and removable waist-belt help you carry heavy loads comfortably, and the front bungee keeps a rain jacket handy on your commute.

Bottom Line: Keep your laptop, power cord, music player, and water bottles organized in The North Face Bandwidth Backpack.

Which should I get? The North Face Heckler or the North Face Bandwidth?

I'm looking for a smaller backpack for maybe 2 smaller books and a laptop (humanities student -- no big biology books here). I already own a Terra 30 pack, which is a great day or weekend bag so I don't need anything too roomy. Which should I go for?

I've found that the max for the Bandwidth is my laptop plus two decent-sized books, so it's probably the right size for you. However, be warned, the straps are super wide - they're comfortable, but if you're looking for a smaller look, the straps don't help.

Great bag, but too small

By:
September 24, 2007

I purchased this bag because I wanted a bag that could hold my laptop and my school books. When I received it in the mail, I was amazed at how small it actually was. My laptop fit great, but there was little room for the rest of my books. I ended up returning the bag and bought the North Face Solaris. More room, features for the same price.

Well it is about 10-12 inches front to back of storage space. It also has a laptop sleeve compartment. Cheers.

Very functional pack for your laptop

By:
June 24, 2009

I held out for a while before buying a backpack that was especially designed for class and a laptop, but I got tired of stuffing my laptop and cord into my normal pack. So I ordered this, and overall I've been pretty happy with it. It has a nice padded laptop sleeve (with extra straps to hold the laptop in place, but I never use them because they're sort of unnecessary unless you turn your pack upside down while it's open ...), and fits a notebook and a couple of books comfortably. The organizer pocket works well, as does the (small) outer pocket and the bungees. The water bottle pockets are perfect for holding a standard Nalgene or smaller. And the chord/AC adapter pocket at the bottom really makes it all worth it.

The biggest detraction for me is that the straps, while comfortable, are super wide and look, well, kind of dorky. It took me a while to get used to them. Otherwise this looks like a normal North Face pack and doesn't stand out too much as a "school" pack. Overall, it has served me well in law school.

Second time buyer

By:

Bought this bag for my daughter to take to Europe last year and she loved it. She is now using it daily at college. Loads of storage pockets and great protection for her laptop. The laptop pocket ends about an inch or so above the bottom of the pack so when they drop the bag on the floor, laptop is protected. Just bought a second one for my other college kid.

Great Bag

By:
September 17, 2008

This bag is well designed. Plenty of organization in the various pockets. .The separate pocket for cords is really handy.

I find this plenty spacious for 4 classes worth of books/notebooks, including a large 4+ inch thick study bible plus my laptop.

The straps are comfortable, and the side h20 pockets are great for a standard 32oz Nalgene sized bottle.

Would, and have, recommended this pack to people.

Good Bag

By:
October 10, 2008

i tend to over research my purchaces and in my search for a good all-round bag that can carry my laptop/books and be used on the weekends for day hikes this bag was my choice. so far i have found no issues with the bag as far as quality or doing what they said it would do. the only issue i may have would be the need for more mid-size to small exterior pockets w/ zippers. the only one is the mp3 pocket, so you have to open one of the two large areas to search for a pen or cell phone on a pocket that doesnt have a zipper, so the pen usually is found in the bottom of the bag and not where you originally put it. other than that, its an awesome bag that is comfortable and holds a ton of stuff.

See the "GREEN CAMO" color on The North Face website for the actual design. Just imagine it in the color you order. The one I received did not have the headphone badge in the center as pictured.

WOW

By:
January 7, 2009

I love this backpack! despite the uncomfortable-looking back, it is very supportive and comfortable. The pockets are deep. but it is kind of small. I would definitely recommend this pack, but only if you don,t have a lot to carry (such as big binders or books).
