The North Face Pamir WindStopper Fleece Jacket - Men's

The North Face Men's Pamir WindStopper Fleece turns a warm, fuzzy fleece into a wind-resistant, durable jacket. Wear the Pamir Fleece Jacket alone on dry, windy days on the slopes, and pull a water-resistant shell overtop when the winter storms roll in. An abrasion-resistant overlay on the shoulders protects the Pamir WindStopper Fleece while you're wearing a backpack.

Bottom Line: The North Face Pamir WindStopper Fleece Jacket is a burly, wind-resistant version of your favorite fleece.

Great choice!

I tried on, and even ordered, a couple of other jackets trying to find one that was both warm wind resistant. Then I hit on this one. This was a winner on both fronts. Terrific on cool days/evenings (above 25 or so) and great with another layer. Looks great and with the terrific sale from this site, it was good all around. Again, can't believe the wind resistance.

This actually works!

This jacket seriously blocks the wind and keeps you warm. I am a huge North Face fan and I have 3 Denali jackets which I love, but they don't keep you that warm when you wear a t-shirt underneath. This windstopper however is Awesome!

I purchased this for my 15 year old son. It is great. We have had a cool--down right cold Spring (so much for global warming). It has kept him warm. Great wind blocker. Purchased it because it was a discounted price, due to color changes. It was worth the money.

Nice jacket, very breathable. I bought the Cipher before this and it had a weird fit and didn't retain any heat at all. This jacket has all the great features of a three season coat...maybe a little extra layering in the colder months, but overall a good jacket.

This is a great jacket. I use it while riding my motorcycle and it does a great job of keeping the wind off. The softshell shoulders do better at keeping light rain off then a normal fleece would.

This is a great, non-bulky intermediate weight jacket. I don't live in parka country, but sometimes need more than a light weight or cheaper fleece. This jacket is perfect weight for down into the 30s as well as under windy conditions...though I haven't tried it yet for both at the same time. :-) I've always had good luck with North Face products, and this store's customer service rocks as usual. Happy & warm in central CA.

This is my 2nd Pamir - 1st one has suffered too much in the past(damaged, and after that degraded for DIY activities). This new one makes me a happy man again! And the price is right, compared to what you pay for such a jacket in Europe (EUR 179 - about USD 280).

I brought this jacket for my husband, I got the large one first, but it is little bigger in the body, should fits ok. I brought medium one instead. it seems lots smaller than the larger one. The jacket is not keeping him warm, but it does block the wind. it is good for 50 degrees weather, not 40s.

Good Jacket

I got this jacket about a month ago and haven't had real chance to wear for extreme cold weather condition. Where I live doesn't get too much of cold weather but for windy and gusty days, I can definitely say this is what you're going to want. It's also 50% waterproof so you don't get too much wet when wearing this jacket. I say it's 50% waterproof because it blocks water only on your shoulders and arms. Considering this was not designed for rainy weather, I think it's the best jacket I've ever had. Wish it was a little bigger than the size shown on the tag

A Personal Favorite

The North Face Pamir WindStopper fleece has been great so far. I have yet to use it on the slopes, but for everyday use, I couldn't be happier. This fleece has been my staple in the infamous unpredictable climate that is characteristic of winter and early spring months of Georgia. It does a great job at keeping the wind out on my daily walk to class and is toasty to boot. Can't wait to see how it handles on the ski slopes. I'm very pleased with this fleece, especially after 4 years of putting up with wind ripping straight through my Denali fleece, and it's stylish too!

Almost Perfect

March 5, 2008

Great jacket for chilly days around town or on the slopes. I always wear it snowboarding with a light hoody under it and around town when its warmer than 20 degrees. It is pretty good in light rains as well, and it is completely windproof, just like they claim. There are only a few days that it is not warm warm enough by itself. Have had it for two years and is still my favorite out of my denali, apex and works amazing with my hard shell. Also have a friend who wears it on his motorcycle on spring days. Anyone looking for a light liner/ spring and fall jacket its perfect. Just needs a sweater or hoody when it gets colder out

TNF fleece with windstopper!!!!!!

By: Anonymous (1)
January 26, 2008

I bought a mountain hardwear fleece with windstopper a few years ago but did not like the styling as much as TNF fleeces. The Denali Fleece I have from TNF looks great but does not do anything for the wind. This new Windstopper TNF fleece combines the best of both worlds. The fit for me was just right. It fits alittle more snug than the same size on the Denali so I would not go a size smaller than you normally would that some reviewer have said previously.

Great pullover jacket

By: Ketzer (1)
December 13, 2007

Buying this sight unseen, I was a little apprehensive, but it turned out great. This is the best pullover type jacket I have ever owned. It's not as thick as others I've had, but doesn't need to be. I've been wearing just this without a heavier jacket in 20-30 degree weather lately here in New England and haven't ever felt cold. Stops wind chill too as advertised. A little more expensive than comparables, but worth it.

ws fleece jacket, good stuff

By: tjh michigan (2)
March 6, 2007

I have had several WS fleece jackets, and found the Pamir a good trans-seasonal jacket. I use if for outdoor activitues, jogging, etc, in temps 20 F and above. The weight, wind resistance and warmth seem to work well in that range for me. I especially like the hook and loop closure sleeves and weather repellent outer layer. Good choice for something other than super cold temps.

This coat is great, actually blocks the wind as well as it says. However, it's very hard to wash. Gentle cycle and have to air dry, not exactly quick by any means. Overall though a good coat.

The Missing Link

By: SnowPig (2)
January 14, 2007

This jacket was my missing link to layering. It is light, not bulky, and it works at stopping wind. I use it around town and when I ski or backpack, it is there to give me the options in my layering comfort.

January 8, 2007

I have to say that my first North Face jacket was a windstopper jacket and since then I have never purchased a non windstopper. When using this jacket I am able to wear lighter clothes since it keeps me so warm. I also love that this jacket is so light weight and I am able to move around very easy!! GREAT JACKET!!!

This is really a good "Windstopper" I am lucky I bought it, because just after couple weeks after I had it, there wad a heavy snow in my town, and this jacket portected me very well. And this jacket also works together with some of my Gore-Tex jacket by zipping them together, great!!

The Pamir Windstopper is a very nice jacket. I like it because nobody else buys this design and it is warmer than my previous fleece. It is not extremely warm, but works well for South Carolina' winter days.

A great warm and light windproof fleece

By: JDMAN (1)
November 21, 2006

It's a great windproof fleece. It keeps warm, even when it's really windy. I wear it when I go mountain biking, and it completely blocks the wind. It is pretty warm, but not as warm as say a Denali fleece. I have the 2006 version, which oddly doesn't have loops on the sleeves to put into a TNF shell. Other than that, no complaints!

I bought this jacket for a friend as a gift and he is thrilled with the jacket along with the quality! Quick service was a plus, the charge for the gift box was a bit extreme, I was hoping you would have wrapped it nicely as a gift, otherwise I wouldn't have paid that amount for a box only.

Great jacket - but customs spoiled part of the fun

By: Vinciebabe (1)
November 15, 2006

They asked me to write a little review. I love this Jacket. It's not a real fleece (tougher than fleece) but has a smooth feel, is light and really stops the wind. I live in Belgium. Customs charged be 75 euro (approx $97). That's 12% import tax 21% vat +processing fee charged by UPS. That did hurt. But still the great jacket compensates the sour experience with Draconian customs here in Belgium. Cheers, Vincent

Not quite what it seems

By: Tom d. (Midlothian, VA) (2)

At first I was impressed by the quality & details designed into TNF's fair-priced jacket. It fits well, comes complete with velcro closures on the sleeves, & uses Gore's phenomenal Windstopper fabric. But my impression turned to disappointment when the jacket failed to live up to its claimed 0 CFM wind-resistant rating. When TNF first introduced the Pamir jacket a few months ago, I could have sworn their website said the abrasive areas used Apex Weatherblock fabric (good stuff). In any case it now says "plain weave polyester." This is bad stuff. I soon realized this when I put my jacket into the one of the services I bought it for: driving in my Jeep with the top down when the days & nights get chilly (35 degF is my record after 14 years!). The upper areas of my body that were covered by the "plain weave polyester" definitely don't meet the O CFM rating. I could obviously feel the wind coming through. Bottom line: I'm returning this jacket & buying TNF Sentinel jacket that uses Gore's Windstopper throughout the entire jacket for a true wind resistant rating of 0 CFM.

Very very good, but not quite perfect

By: J. Mills (3)
November 1, 2006

I opted for the Pamir WindStopper instead of the venerable North Face Denali model, because I'd read that wind went right through the Denali. The Pamir does indeed keep out the wind. The downside is that the WindStopper fabric itself just isn't as warm feeling as a thick fleecy fabric. So, to stay warm with this jacket, you've really got to wear several layers underneath. A long-sleeve t-shirt and the Pamir, in 50 degree air, and you'll be shivering in no time.

Great Jacket

First of all, I love the jacket. Its light and does exactly what it says it will. Stops wind from cooling you down. The one complaint I have is that one of the uses listed for the jacket is skiing. I've been skiing and this jacket is not near warm enough by itself to be used for skiing. However I highly recommend this to anyone who needs a nice fall jacket; or anyone who likes to hike.

The perfect jacket for everyday use!

By: IcyHot (1)
October 21, 2006

I narrowed my search to 2 choices: The Mountain Hardware Tech Jacket and the North Face Pamir. Both have WindStopper, and both looked nice. I went with The North Face Pamir and am very happy with it. Wore it last night to a high school football game where temps were 45 degrees and the wind was blowing about 15-20mph. Most people were quite chilly and had on layers of bulky clothing. Not me. I purposely through on a Nike short sleeve dri-fit running shirt (very light) and then this Pamir jacket. I was toasty the entire game. Felt absolutely no wind at all. Two thumbs up for The North Face Pamir. Bottom line: this jacket is incredibly light weight and thin - but provides unmatched warmth. It is as warm as my winter coat in almost all areas. I plan to use it jogging and doing all my outdoor activities!
