The North Face Scythe Summit Series Jacket - Women's - 2007
Polartec Thermal Pro fleece fabric and a stretch panel construction give The North Face Women's Scythe Summit Series Jacket the breathability and flexibility you need for your backcountry trips. Mechanical stretch in the Scythe Jacket lets you move your arms and torso on ice climbs and backcountry ski tours. The Scythe Jacket's standard fit gives you room for layers underneath, and comfy fleece cuffs won't cut off your circulation. When winter storms roll in, pull a weatherproof shell over The North Face Scythe Jacket and carry on.
Bottom Line: The North Face Scythe Summit Series Jacket—because wearing a stiff jacket in the backcountry is just deadly.

Cute but not a good jacket

I was really excited about how cute this jacket was and I'm a big fan of the quality of North face items. I was looking for a new jacket for the fall/spring and some during the winter. This was about the same weight and warmth as one of my pullover north face sweatshirts. Additionally, it runs very short in length as I am a small in every north face item I own and I don't think going up a size would make much of a difference. It is a fitted jacket if you like fitted items. Also, not shown in any of the pictures on this or the north face website the gray fleece piping goes up the side of the jacket and continues on the inside of the arm. If you are looking for a sweatshirt type fleece this would be great, but if you are looking for a jacket I wouldn't recommend it.

I bought this jacket as a transitional fleece from winter to spring, have had it for a few weeks and wear it all the time: 7 days a week (work and play). It is quite warm if worn with a long-sleeved layer underneath and looks very sporty and modern. I also appreciate how light-weight it is, as well as the softness which feels great next to the skin: its one of those cuddly jackets you don't want to take off! The only thing is that these run small: I wear a size Small but had to get this in Medium, and its still quite a fitted fit. Overall I am very happy with the product, as this jacket has been my first North Face.
great when used for its purpose

Great fleece for use as a midlayer between base layers and a shell; form fit means no bulk under shell and keeps you warmer. Short fit allows for a harness or waist strap on your pack. I used it for a two week trip (presidential traverse in new hampshire in february) and worked exactly like its supposed to!!
