The North Face Insulated Freedom Pant - Women's

Super-tight ski pants aren't very practical, or comfortable. The North Face made the Women's Insulated Freedom Pants with a relaxed, contemporary fit, so you can actually bend your knees on the slopes without feeling like you're going to bust a seam. Thanks to low-bulk synthetic insulation, you can drop the long johns most days, or layer up for a super warm system when temps dip below 0F. The Insulated Freedom Pants' fully taped seams and waterproof breathable HyVent fabric encourage you to brave the harshest elements. Mesh panels in the leg gaiters work with the thigh vents to create full-leg air circulation as you charge down the slopes.

Bottom Line: The North Face Women's Insulated Freedom Pant, with liberty and powder stashes for all.

very cute

These pants are very comfortable. I'm 5'7" and 155 lbs, typical size 10, wearing medium, and they do have a fitted look. Since I was on the fringe of the med/large on the sizing chart, thanks to all the other reviews, I went with the smaller size for the fitted look and love it. Can still fit a thin base layer underneath.

Anyone out there who wears a size 4-6 (Gap/Banana republic)? What size would you get for the Freedom pants? xs? or s? I'm also 5'1, so I would go with the short.

These are a solid pant

For the money, it is hard to beat these pants. I picked them up for my wife and she loves them. They fit well, are avail. in short lengths, have just enough insulation for cold mornings, and a great venting system for those warmer days on the slopes. Overall, a great option.

Love the Pants

I agree with the review above me, my pants too were baggier than i expected. Typically in a woman's world, you find clothes that run smaller, never bigger. I could have gotten away with a size smaller. I do love the length...being a tall girl, the Long pants were perfect. I absolutley love them...will buy more in the future!

size down if you want a good fit - very baggy and larger in the waist than expected.

Great Pants!!!

The fit is fantastic, the adjustable waist leaves you with a perfect fit no matter how many layers you have on. I was worried about the thigh pocket which looked bulky to me; but it lies close to the pany and doesn't stick out, unless of course you fill it. They really are wind resistant, and the thigh vents have been very helpful on warm days. Every time I have used them I find something else I love about them!

best pants ever

My boyfriend has the men's version of these pants and loved them. I always have to wear long underwear and have lined ski pants- otherwise my legs get cold. These pants are warm and breathable. I'll never wear any other ski pants.

Great fit

I fell in love with these pants the first time I tried them on in a local shop this season...all season long...looking for a xs-long in brown...no luck! I finally went with the ice blue...I'm so happy with the choice...look great with my yellow jacket (all my outdoor gears are in the brightest color I could ever find). Just hope they could make more pants with length options. I'm 5'7'', but all the ski/snowboarding pants I've tried/had before look ridiculous on me...or it's just I'm not used to wearing them super low. I'd rather look silly than have snow in me. All in all, best fit ever...can't wait to wear them on the slopes tomorrow :) BTW, they're a little on the big side in size. I can usually go with small or xs from the north face. But xs of these pants are already super loose on me.

I finally found a woman's ski pant that is small enough for me. I am 4'11" and it has been very challenging to find adult pants that fit. These are great! So if you are petite like me, they are perfect, I got the XS, Short.

Fave Pants

Love these pants, just bought my 3rd pair. Like the waist, stays put, just enough pockets w/o too many to search for lunch money. Long enough even in size SM. Sufficiently water resistant w/o ever being sweaty. Even my first pair still retains resistant properties after numerous launderings. Good value for price.

I get cold very easily and even with winds hard enough to occassionally close the chairlift, I was always warm! Lots of comfort and mobility too.

These pants fit well, are comfortable, warm, and the zippers on the side can be opened for cooling. Lots of pockets. I liked them so much I bought a 2nd pair.

Great and Completely WATERPROOF

By: Razberriez1 (1)
January 22, 2008

I bought these for my fiance and I (his in Men's of course) for my Ski Vacation in Park City, Utah. I bought mine in Petite...which was great since I am only 5'1" ...the first day they seemed a little tight...(I am a size 8) but I found out after the first day that it's best to just wear long underwear underneath...not sweat pants too...the long underwear were enough...and they fit MUCH better after that...there are a lot of great pockets and have a nice cut...high waisted enough not to get snow in the top but look modern because of the stitching on the butt so they don't look high waisted. Another thing...THEY ARE COMPLETELY WATERPROOF...I know this because we ended up sliding down on our butts on one of the hills because was way too big for us and we were very scared...needless to say the pants were completely waterproof! A GREAT BUY...and I was expecting shipping in 2 days and got it overnight instead!

I absolutely love the insulated freedom pants. I appreciate the option of a tall size as the pants are a PERFECT fit and allows me to be comfortable while out having fun in the snow.

I bought these in Long and they are perfect. They have a little roomier cut, but the waist is adjustable. I went down a size, but with the adjustable waist, that was not a problem. Great ski pants!

The Perfect Ski Pant

By: Glamour Kitty (1)
January 8, 2008

I bought this particular pant because it came in a 'long' and I was tired of looking like 'Goober'(Gomer Pyle's clueless cousin)on the slopes, but these pants have the best ergonomic fit ever. And the insulation is just enough, so they are comfortable in a wider range of temps at altitude. They are roomy to the point that I needed the next size down, but they were out of stock, so I had to hunt some down on the 'net. Outstanding design, TNF!

Thanks, Northface, for the roomy and modern cut of these insulated ski pants. I wore these in Park City during some sub zero weather and NEVER froze my butt off. If you want a lower waisted fit, these are not for you, as these are more traditionally cut in the waist.
