The North Face Tempest Down Jacket - Women's - 2007
If you tend to get cold on the slopes, and you don't want a down jacket that will soak up every drop of moisture, look to The North Face Women's Tempest Down Jacket. A waterproof breathable shell blocks moisture, 600-fill down keeps you cozy, and a powder skirt blocks snow on the slopes. A faux fur lining on the hood adds street style to the Tempest Down Jacket. This warm, puffy jacket's long length keeps you covered on the ski hill, and Underarm zips help you dump heat after a hard run. The Tempest Jacket's down insulation keeps you warm and maintains a low profile, so you won't feel like you're wearing a blow-up raft on the slopes or in town. The North Face included a Recco avalanche rescue reflector to help aid ski patrol in the event of a slide.
Bottom Line: When it's freezing and stormy on the ski slopes, zip into The North Face Tempest Down Jacket.

Sexy jacket, but with flaws.

This jacket is very appealing. It has the ribbed lining on the bottom to keep the cold and wind out and it has a very flattering hood. Sexy jacket! Also, the arm length is very nice for taller people. However, if you take notice, this jacket is a sporty and petite fit. I got the large and it still didn't fit right, a little on the small side. It has vents under the armpits, even with those zipped open, I still felt the armpits were tight. When I was driving especially I could feel how tight the armpits were. I prefer comfort over appeal any day. If you're petite, then you can handle this jacket. Otherwise, don't let the sexy/sporty look fool you. ;o)

ONe of the coolest designs in a coat that I've seen in a long time...but the arm pits are cut too tight. The zipper from the vent dig into you and it's quite binding and uncomfortable...Darn !!

Not my favorite

This was my primary jacket this winter until I got the Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket. The cut is a little weird on this and uncomfortable. Though I am slim the arm zippers bite and don't stay closed well. Seams do leak and oddly I was cold in it a lot. If I had to do it again I would go with the Mountain Hardwear.
Awesome Jacket!

Jacket is really cool. Great fit and feminine shape. Got it in Cornsilk Yellow, which is even better looking in person. For anyone else considering this color, the trim is a very dark brown, an even nicer contrast than black would have been even though it looks like black in the picture. I am 5'7" and a size 10, the large was perfect. I didn't have an issue with the underarms being too tight or the arms too long. I guess I was made for this coat!
Great Cold Weather Ski Jacket

I bought this jacket for cold winter skiing in Colorado and it did the job perfectly. It kept me warm every single day, which never happens to me who always gets cold! The hood stays tight and provides great cover, and the interior wind protector at the bottom really works well. This jacket is so stylish but so functional. I highly recommend it!

WARM!

December 14, 2007
This jacket is really warm without being too bulky. I have had it for about a month now but was waiting until it was really cold to see if it kept me warm before leaving my review....it was -34 celsius here today and i wasn't cold at all. I do not find the armpits too tight, I do find the arms could be about half an inch shorter, but maybe I just have short arms! Anyways, I don't regret my purchase one bit! Oh, and the material is not shiny as it appears online (not a bad thing!).
Tempest North Face Jacket not true to size

Ordered a medium as a XMAS present for my daughter who is a size 6-8; it fits if you wear only a t-shirt under the jacket! The cut is not a true size to be comfortable. Returning jacket for a size large. The detail and quality of the jacket are very good.

This jacket was worth the money because it's stylish and also kept me warm at the same time. I wore this jacket on my trip to New York and snowboarding and I was really satisfied with the insulation and comfort. The only con about it is that it may be a little tight around the armpit area.

I bought the North Face Tempest Down Jacket for my sister and she loves it. She is 5'1 and very petite and the XS fits her really well. She has used the jacket for everyday wear and on the slopes. Overall we are both really pleased with the jacket.

The jacket not only feels great in looks great. It also fits perfect. I was concerned about it being snug in the arms from what I have read in other reviews and it is not. It will be great to ski in with other layers underneath.
Mom Loves it

I bought this for my mom last November and it kept her warm during the humid east coast winter. The only complaint is that it is a little short and doesn't come down on the hips very much, but that is more a North Face thing in general.
best down!

The Tempest is the best down jacket I own! I have this jacket in the red color and love the fit and style. This is a great jacket to wear for those cold days on the slope but also works walking through town in the winter. It gets a little warm on those spring days but is essential for the freezing days!
I LOVE this jacket!

This jacket is WONDERFUL! I am typically ALWAYS cold, but stay toasty warm in this jacket. Contrary to what other reviewers stated, I did NOT find the arm pits to be cut small. I waited for a month to get the Red Curry color in a size Small and it was completely worth the wait. The color is beautiful, the size is perfect, this jacket is wonderful. I can wear a XS in The North Face, but got the small so I could wear sweaters under it. I wear this jacket snowboarding as well as around town and I continuously get compliments on it. I love all the little features like the lens cleaner, the goggle pocket and the mp3 player pocket. This jacket is definitely worth every penny.

Kept me very warm in Colorado...the pockets are nice and roomy...stylish....I bought a large even though I wear a medium (which I tried on in a store) after folks said it was cut funny in the armpits...I couldn't tell in the store with the Med but there was PLENTY of rm with the bigger size with a fleece underneath....but the arms were a little long with the bigger size...
All in all a sweet coat, wish they had other colors

Very nice cut and good product, but as with most down jackets, a bit leakage in seams.

I love this jacket, it's cute, has nice features and is warm. The fit is great for me, not too tight, just snug like it's supposed to be. Very cute coat, and it keeps me warm skiing and running around.

It was fast shipping and I loved the coat. Fit was great and I could zip it up over my heavy sweaters and bibs still. Only complaint, there were zippers and pull tabs that I didnt know what to do with, instructions or suggestions might help. Great coat, kept me warm at -10, waist deep snow and 60 mph.
Cute, but long arms

February 20, 2008
Cute jacket, VERY warm, but sleeves are definitely too long for a petite person like myself. Didn't think the armpits were too tight, like some previous reviewers mentioned, just arms too long--had to tuck them under. Great coat overall, though! Got many compliments on it.

It's a high quality and nice looking jacket, but unfortunately, the medium is too big and the small is tight in the arms. So, I went with The North Face Phoebe jacket instead. I just skied in it and was very satisfied. The small in the Phoebe jacket was a great fit.
really cute!

This is 500 times cuter in person that on the website. It fits true to north face coat sizing. Great fabric, good feel to it. Coat is not heavy and the fur looks really good. The arms don't look as puffy in person as they look in person.
BEST NORTH FACE FOR THE HIPPY LADIES

This is the first jacket that fits me with no complaints. It is the cutest jacket yet. Very warm and has great coverage. The ribbed bottom allows it to expand and accomodate the hips. It lets me show off my small waste and my big hips. Very sexy jacket. I must also say that you guys are a great company, very resourceful and very reliable.
