Board the plane with your laptop, some notebooks and your music player safe in The North Face Off Site Bag. Locate your items easily thanks to the divider sleeves in the main compartment, and keep your power-cord safe and out of the way in the Off Site Bag's padded bottom pocket. Pull your music player out of the front organizer compartment, lean back, and enjoy the ride. The North Face made the Off Site's slotted back panel easy to fit over the handle on your rolling luggage, and the Off Site Bag's sturdy carry handle comes in handy as you zip over to the local coffee shop.

I have had this bag for a few weeks now and am happy with it. I had a TNF Corporate Climber for 10 years and love that bag. I look at the shoulder strap connections with the same concern that dgoods experienced - they seem under-designed for the bag and it doesn't look like there's a simple way to upgrade. I do wish there was a simple external zippered pocket. I like to put my keys in a pocket quickly when I leave the car, but there isn't an easy one to get to with one hand. This isn't a big deal, but would be handy. Putting them in the open mesh front pocket makes me nervous they'll fall out.

I also have a 17" laptop and wonder whether the bag will hold that size?? Also, does it have compartments for papers, documents and the like??

Thanks.

offsite bag

It is a great bag however it cannot hold the ~20-25lbs I pack it with. very upsetting. It started the first few months perfectly fine. I loved the amount of space and pockets and side mesh pockets fitting a wide mouth nalgene bottle. However I was walking across my college campus one day with only my 14in hp pavillion laptop, two folders, and a textbook in my bag and shoulder strap broke from the front side plastic swivel axis. Being the Macguever that I am, I tied it around the compression clip and continued to use it. After this I called TNF and they sent me a new swivel axis plastic clip and I took it to a shoemarker and they replaced it. only 2 days later the back(right-side) one broke apart too. I again did a quick fix knot. But of course only a day after that seam of the compression strap clip attached to the black fabric it is attached to ripped right out. Again I love it for the space it gives me as I'm certainly not a minimalist. but I cannot in good faith recommend this to other people. unless they are prepared to carry no more than a light laptop and small book. as it seems this doesn't want to stay in one piece with anything more than 25lbs in the bag.

I have a sony 17" vaio VGN AR51J and it seems to be bigger than most 17" laptops. Does anyone know if this bag will take a sony 17" or indeed what the max laptop dimensions of the bag is?

Thanks

McG

Great bag. It is very large, so I have a tendency to overfill it. Nice looking, durable, meets my needs.

The North face Offsite Bag

Great bag! I heard it was a little too big, but I disagree. It's the perfect size. I travel a lot for work and I am able to get in my laptop, all of my work items, text books for my MS degree, plus DVD's and an IPOD and still have room for my lunch. The water bottle pouches are great, as I refuse to buy bottled water. The bag has plenty of pockets and pouches so I can carry a whole bunch of unecessary stuff and still have it organized. The strap is comfortable even with the bag loaded, and it's easily adjustable. I recommend the bag to anyone who is not a minimalist.

The North Face Off Site Computer Bag

I need to carry two laptops, a 15-inch Thinkpad and a 15-inch Mac Book Pro. This bag can easily fit both computers, their respective power adapters, mice, Plantronics VoIP headset, 2-10 foot Ethernet cables, a 10 foot cross-over cable and still have room for my iPod, cell phone, Sony Cyber-Shot, all of those associated cables, a small toiletry kit, Passport and travel papers, a Wind breaker/rain jacket and an umbrella with room to spare for other small items. The Off Site bag is the ultimate carry-on for airlines that only allow your computer case.

One Big Bag

On my recent ten day trip to the Pacific Northwest, I used this bag to carry not only my computer, Bose head phones, CD case, camera, various reading materials and all of my paperwork, but also to bring my overnight clothes to and from the suitcase in the car to the house or hotel that I ended up staying in. The carrying strap is quite padded and even with all of that weight, it was still comfortable on my shoulder. My favorite feature is the mesh pocket on the front, that i throw my airplane tickets, a light jacket and phone in. There is also a conveniently located zip pocket on the front for your wallet or keys.

The search for the perfect briefcase

I travel often with my work in the polo business and was searching for something that was professional looking yet durable and sporty. This bag is everything I was looking for. Its only drawback is that it is so big, that I find myself overloading it sometimes.I love the mesh front as it is perfect for stashing my light fleece or a quick snack that I can reach easily on the plane. The zippers are easier to use than my husband's Patagonia one bag.

Very big bag

This bag is bigger than it appears. It's too big and bulky to put over my 20" wheeled carry-on. My Inspiron 710m fits easily into a minor pocket. So I gave it to my brother, a law student. It holds several law books and Vaio notebook (17" screen). He carries the bag everywhere.
