The North Face WindStopper Ear Gear
The North Face WindStopper Ear Gear is the ultimate headband. Perfect for intense aerobic activities like Nordic skiing, the Ear Gear will let you ventilate, but will keep your ears nice and warm. Gore WindStopper prevents that painful winter ear ache, and the Power Stretch fleece fits your head comfortably.
Bottom Line: Lightweight, minimalist headband with WindStopper.

I typically only wear ball caps in lieu of wool ski caps in the winter so my ears do suffer. I can wear this with an i-pod ear bud and keep them as well as my cap securely fastened to my skull. Warm and cozy.

Excellent little headband. Easy enough to throw on and go without messing up your hair. I used it snowboarding and was warm all day.

Normally yes, but backcountry is out right now. For that info the best thing to do is jump on "live chat" and ask those folks. They can look up if there are any on order, and if they are they can tell you roughly when they're expected.

the best I've ever tried

I absolutely love this product. The others I've had in the past never provided enough coverage and were incapable of keeping the cold air completely out. There was always a little air that would sneak into the fabric. Not the case with the North Face WindStopper Ear Gear - I have full protection. I had no problem with the sizing. I am an adult female with a small head, so I just automatically ordered the medium, hoping it would work, and it did. There is just enough tension in the fabric to keep it from moving around. The only drawback, and this is a small one, is that the blockage is so good, that you might have trouble hearing someone talking to you, as it also blocks a bit of noise. I usually have to raise it up slightly if I need to talk to someone so that I can hear them. However, sometimes it's just plain more important to keep your ears warm than it is to hear! I do wish The North Face made one for my kids!
How do I know which size of Windstopper ear gear (north face)
How do I know which size of Windstopper ear gear (north face) to get? I am an adult male, with a hat size of 7 1/4 (just under 23" circumfrence)

My head is just a bit larger than yours and I went with a medium. It fits me very well. If your melon was quite a bit bigger I'd got with a large but medium should work fine for you.Hope that helps.

Great for the ears, the shape is perfect and it's not too tight so it rests nicely on your head keeping your ears warm.
Yeah, kind of a pain. If you have an average sized mans head I'd got with medium. If you have a larger than average head size up.

Needed something to keep my ears warm because I am in and out of my company vehicle 10 hrs a day during the winter. These kept my ears warm and did block out the wind, I was really surprised by how thin they wore. Highly recommended.
Is there a difference between the medium size and the large?
Is there a difference between the medium size and the large? How is the head measured? If I buy the large, would it be too big and fall off?

I wear a medium and my head measures about 7 1/3. Most people will wear a medium but if your head is larger than normal I'd got with a large. If it's a bit bit it's not going to fall down. Just won't be quite as snug.Hope that helps.

i went out running at night while i was waiting for my "ear gear" to arrive. december in michigan is pretty bitter. i wore a hat, but the hat kept tugging my earphones out of my ears. however, this was nothing compared to the piercing pain i felt in my inner ear when i got home from the run. this product is awesome. roomy, comfortable with earphones, and NO wind is getting through. a must have for outdoor, winter activities.
