Honestly, backpacks are backpacks-they don't need bungee straps, netting and fancy pockets. You need a simple bag for carrying books, things for a hike, or just a sweatshirt? This bag is for you. Simple, simple, simple. That's what this bag does well. No bells and whistles yet does it's job perfectly and sturdily.
I keep coming back for more!

Well this is the 3rd North Face backpack I've owned in 3 years. Not because of any fault of theirs-- they keep getting stolen! That said, I keeping buying new ones because I like them so much. This is the first Vault pack I bought and so far, so good. It's perfect for just throwing a few things in and riding around on my bike. Once it gets warmer I'm going to test it out hiking but I'm pretty sure it'll be fine since it works well with all my day-to-day city stuff in it. It's a basic pack, no fancy bells and whistles, but it will get the job done well.

Indian Clay Red

the indian clay red, is 90 % red, and the other color is like bordeaux (in the picture is like black)
The backpack is nice, has a lot of room, my 15.4 inches laptop with it's own sleeve fits just right, and also can carry some books.
Not the perfect one for hiking, it does not have chest belt or waist belt, but great for school .
It's very comfortable, great quality materials and for 27 bucks i think it's a perfect deal.
Thanks
Nice pack

It's a nice pack. I like how it is just one large compartment. The bag is pretty spacious. The front pocket has a built in organizer, but it is not a very good organizer, I wish it was just a little pocket. No daisy chain on the front is a little annoying. But I'm giving it 5 stars because I knew these things when I bought it.

Is this a good backpack for young kids? My son is entering kindergarten, will this bag be to big? if it is to big, what North Face back pack is smaller?

This is a bit of a big pack for kindergarden, and probably way too much room at 30L. If you look around for something around the 20L mark, it would be better for him for now, but he will grow out of it soon. This might be big for now, but in the longer run it will turn out to be an excellent pack.

Growing up in PA, I have know the North Face name along with many other outdoor brands, all my life. Owning a few other products that are North Face, I've learned to appreciate the name and respect its durability through the years. Being an outdoorsman all my life, I've purchased many of brands and by far, North Face is ranked right at the top for me and many of my friends and family.
Oh yeah, It looks cool too.
Thank you,
Shawn

I would stop at about 30 pounds because of the discomfort it would cause, not necessarily the fear of a loss of structural integrity

It is exactly what my daughter was wanting. Shipped quickly.
It uses a water resistant material. No pack is waterproof unless you use a pack cover.

I bought this for my 4th grade son who is hard on backpacks (always having to lug huge books home, etc.) We went through a cheap backpack in a few months. This one appears to be very sturdy -- seems indestructible. Quality is excellent. Zippers seem well-made.

I wouldn't. Try handwashing with a mild soap, and I'm sure you can get it pretty clean.

Each of my children now have this backpack. It's extremely sturdy compared to the packs i've purchased in local retail stores. Definitely worth the money. My daughter's got her through 2 years of high school and her first year of college. I highly recommend.

So far so good. I ordered 2. One for daughter in college and one for a 4th grader. They seem to be holding up well and they have quite a bit of room in them.
I simply love this backpack

this is a great bag if you want something plain and simple, but still be able withstand the weight and size of heavy books and notebooks. This bag is not only good for school stuff but you can take it anywhere without having to worry about turning around and knocking someone over with a huge backpack. This product is the well worth the money.
