The North Face Skareb 40 Backpack - 2150-2750 cu in

Go light and fast with The North Face Skareb 40. This Flight Series ultralight pack is a smaller version of the Skareb 55 that is ideal for overnight backpacking or climbing trips when weight is at a premium. The Skareb 40 comes in three sizes for superior fit and its active-cut contour hip-belt and X-2 aluminum suspension system allow you to pick up the pace with ease. As you gain miles and altitude, the split-contoured shoulder harness and back panel's E-VAP technology circulate more air to keep you dry and comfortable. When the storm clouds move in, a rain cover located in the left zip pocket keeps your gear dry, while your hard-shell is within reach in the front mesh pocket. Grab your ice ax from the Skareb's gear loop and make your way to the summit. Catch your breath, take your water bottle from the right zip pocket and enjoy the view.

Bottom Line: The ultralight North Face Skareb 40 Backpack is for hikers or climbers who need a high-performance pack without the weight.

Two weeks in Europe

Great pack if you are looking to travel light. I stuffed mine full of dry-fit shirts, socks, and underwear for 2 weeks in Europe and had room to spare for power cords and such. I used it essentially as a suitcase. Got rained on a few times and never used the included rain cover, so I guess it is good to go for light and short-term rain. Only wish is for more external pockets to stash small stuff, but overall it is a great pack. Euro travel tip: take old socks and underwear and just throw them away as you go. My pack was lighter when I got back, even with several souvenirs!

TNF no detail?

I recently purchased the Skareb 40 size M so this is slightly larger then the small and I found the sizing to be just fine. I suggest is you have questions about your sizing specific issues go with the M instead of the L. One of the problems I did find though was pics. I must have looked at over 10 different sites plus the North Face and could only find the basic same 3 images for the and the Skareb 55 (the bigger brother of this pack). For me this was solved very quickly by the staff. The gearhead I talked to online in the chat had a buddy in the warehouse who also had this pack.. and a digital camera. He was so kind as to take several shots of the pack my choice, then emailed them personally! That is what made or broke the order for me. The super service. But alas I got screwed in the end and charged double shipping for me international order and had to pay double customs! As for the pack well the 40 size M for me is enough I pack out pretty light but would be hard pressed for a tent and food. This is a hostel goers dream though!
