The North Face Redpoint Optimus Jacket - Women's - 2006
The North Face Redpoint Optimus women's jacket returns with a whole new outlook on foul weather this winter. A longtime favorite of TNF's athletes, the Optimus now arrives with flattering new stitching and a new waterproof hood and shoulder yoke. Designed to be worn as an insulating layer under any shell, the Optimus is a must-take piece for extended backcountry tours or hut trips. Wear it while you're on the move, taking your turn at the belay station, or making breakfast at the hut. While the hood and shoulders are fully waterproof (that's where precipitation hits first), the body of the jacket has been treated with a light PU kiss coat to further improve water-resistance. The PrimaLoft insulation provides moisture-proof warmth, and packs down super small so you can easily stuff it in your backpack. When you've made it back to civilization, the Optimus is a great jacket for cruising around town in simple, comfortable style.
Bottom Line: Optimally, you'll make it a point to carry the Redpoint Optimus this winter.

Great lightweight & warm jacket. This jacket is great under a hard shell on a cold day in the powder but also great alone. This jacket appears to be thin, but the primaloft is surprisingly warm.

I owned a Nuptse before, but found when I was winter camping, it was just too bulky and annoying. So I got an Optimus. It rocks. I found that beyond just providing a lightweight, packable insulating layer, the Redpoint Optimus is awesome for wearing around town or under a shell for skiing. The toughest thing was deciding the classic black or the blue. I went blue and am really happy.
I LOVE my poofy layer!

This jacket is warm, lightweight and sharp looking. If you need a jacket that will keep you warm on morning dog walk or for a hike in the woods this Jacket will most certainly meet your needs. I am very pleased with this jackets performance .. If you purchase one size larger than you need then you can layer under it (not required as this jacket will keep you warm) but sometimes you never know what the weather may bring so if you want the option of layering.. the next size up is an absolute must. I highly recommend this jacket.

This is by far my favorite jacket I own. Very light and thin but keeps you surprisingly warm. I wear it fall through spring. Definitely recommended.
This Jacket Rocks

Being from Texas, I needed a new jacket to keep me warm in my winter Utah home. This TNF masterpiece is lightweight yet keeps me warm and toasty with zero complaints. Even without a shell, it has proven to be an excellent purchase for daily wear during the work week with zero complaints. Amazingly thin, nice lines, female cutnot too long, not too shortits just right. The Redpoint Optimus has the hood and the regular Optimus doesn't, the difference is having the having the option to keep your head protected from the elements or styling with a classic collar. Your choice.
