The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Girls'
Your girl will stay warm in The North Face Metropolis Down Parka. With knee-length coverage and 550-fill down, she'll stay warm on that trip into town whether she's wearing jeans or a dress. The Metropolis is the perfect coat for school-bound grommettes and those hanging out après ski with the family. The Metropolis has both a zip and snap center front closure, and the hood is insulated.
Bottom Line: A city-styled parka for staying warm.

I'm 5'3" and 100 lbs - I ordered the girl's large and it's perfect. Fitted but still room enough to layer, which is incredibly important in Chicago's winter. Great value, warm, and very stylish. The brown color is much more attractive in person. Would definitely recommend.
Will do the job, but is very different from the women's jacket...

I'm 5'3" and 115 lbs. I thought I could get away $79 cheaper by purchasing a girl's XL instead of a women's small. The women's small fit great throughout the body, but the hood was too big and sat too far back on my head and I couldn't get it to adjust well. (I like having use of the hood because it doesn't squish my hairstyle) I tried on the girl's XL and it was a bit shinier, although not as shiny as the photo depicts, so that's good. I agree w/Nina, though - the cut is unflattering. The hood fit perfectly on the girl's jacket, so that was the deciding factor for me. I think that maybe after a week of wearing it, I won't care or remember that the women's looked better.
hi. I am 5ft 1 weight about 102 pounds. should i get a XL .

I am about the same size and The North Face girls XL is a little big for me. I would recommend a L.

Not What I Expected

The girls' Metropolis parka turned out to be a completely different product from the women's Metropolis. I wanted a smaller version of the latter, but received a completely different product. The girls' coat is made of a different, less attractive, shinier material, and is cut in an unflattering way (large shoulders and thin arm holes). I returned it immediately.

Love my Metropolis Jacket

I have ordered from this sitebefore and have always been pleased with the level of customer service. I received my order in a few days and love my new north face jacket. The north face women's jackets tend to be a little long in the sleeves so I opted for a girl's size instead and it fits perfectly. I have been wearing this jacket for about a month now and it's very warm and stylish at the same time. I would highly recommend this jacket!

This is a great coat for the freezing cold New York weather. It's very warm, yet very light so it doesn't feel like you're wearing a heavy coat at all. Another great North Face product!
I am 5'3 inch women. Would the xl girls coat feet me like

Working in the windy city

My daughter works in Chicago, and anyone who has been there knows how cold and windy it gets. She had this on her Christmas list, so I purchased it and gave it to her early to test it out. She loves it! I would not hesitate to order again. I feel better that she is warm as well!

I brought this coat for my 11 y/o daughter. It fits great and keeps her warm so that she does not have to bundle up so much on the way to and from school. The only down side is the feathers keep coming out on the sleeve and back of the coat. She has it in black so it can be somewhat annoying to keep pulling at the feathers
Metropolis Parka - ok

I'm 5'1 and 108 lbs. The "L" girls size coat fits a petite woman of my built quite nicely. However, it's not as warm as I thought it would be. If I have a light sweater on, I find myself having to dress an extra light layer. The coat is long so I think the 600 count is spread out so it's not as warm as a short coat with 600. Overall, I'm happy, but it's definitely not as warm as some other down coats, but the sleek style and length makes up for it.
You are awesome, thank you

I can't believe how wonderful our experience was. Our college daughter 1000 miles away in NYC needed a coat and cold weather was approaching-- her metropolis arrived OVERNIGHT as promised. Too large, I ordered another and returned the first, the second one arrived in great time as well. The return process was smooth and our daughter adores her coat. We will be your customers again; please put us on your e-mail list and send a catalog if available. Thanks for everything!! Marissa in Illinois

My daughter loves the coat. It is attractive and very warm. My only complaint is that it is not waterproof.

I too am a short lady (5'2) and the large girls size fits perfectly and looks great. The coat is very light so isn't an effort to wear. Although the coat is warm, it isn't as warm as similar ones I've owned previously. Overall I really like it but there is one annoying thing about it...the hood is too light and tends to blow away when walking into the wind which is frustrating when you want your head to stay warm and dry.
Awesome!

My husband bought me this jacket as a Christmas present. I absolutly love it! It is lightweight, but warm! I get a lot of compliments on it. The only downside is that some of the feathers come through the jacket.
Awesome parka for the price!

I've had this coat for several weeks now and LOVE it. As some of the other reviews mention, it does seem to "leak" down more than other down parkas I've owned, but this hasn't been a major problem. It's very warm and looks fantastic. I'm 5'6" and had ordered the XL based on other reviews but ended up returning it for the L, which fits perfectly (I usually wear a women's small for North Face). This is definitely a fantastic coat for the money. I also own a TNF Triple C parka that I use on the most bitter cold Chicago winter days, but I'd say that the Metropolis is perfect for the majority of the time and tons more affordable than the Triple C. I'd highly recommend this coat, but would note that if I was any taller, I think it would be too short - 5'6" is probably the upper limit for being able to wear the girls' version as opposed to the womens'.
Wish it would've worked out...

I couldn't find the women's version in XS so I opted for this in black, size small. It looked ok at first, but I agree with the other reviewer after I tried it on. It's a different material than the women's version and the cut of the arms is unflattering. The jacket is cut for a girl's figure, while in the women's version, the waist is brought in creating a nice waistline. I am very petite 5'0 and 90 lb and the jacket was a little too big for me. The medium would fit much better, but they're out. I've been researching and reading reviews for this jacket for the past 2 months and really wished that it would've work out! I was told that the style has been discontinued. Anyways, I'm returning the item. I guess I'll either keep searching for the women's size xsmall or just wait to see what The North Face has for next winter. The service and shipping experience was great though. I would definitely buy from here again!
