The North Face Gotham Jacket - Mens
The North Face Gotham Jacket keeps you warm in the steel canyons. An insulated, fur trimmed hood gives you Eskimo-style warmth when when broadway starts to look like the Alaskan highway. 550-fill goose down makes the Gotham lightweight, soft and unbelievably comfortable, as only a down coat can be. The Gotham's fur trim is removable, and ribbed cuffs and hem keep you from leaking cold air.
Bottom Line: Batmobile sold separately.

North Face is a high quality company, just the size do throw me off a little. I have 3 Notrh Face McMurdo Parkas XXL and 2 Notrh Face Nuptse XXXL in sizes, two deal with the Chi-town weather. I'm 6ft 255 pounds and want to get a Notrh Face Gotham so I'm wondering what would be a good size to get XXL or XXXL?

This is the warmest and best looking jackets I ever had. I always wear only T-shirt under it and never get cold, even when it's -15 celsius. It makes you 'bigger' in the same time, which is never bad.
I also recommend this site. Always updated information and no problems.

Bought this jacket in Dec. I am 5'6" 180 and Med is perfect. This jacket is extremely warm, a little bulky but not bad. The only complaint is the zipper is a little flaky, on occasion coming apart at the bottom. I just wore this jacket to Packers NFC game, temp was -5 & windy, with the hood up I was nice and toasty. I would not recommend this for skiing or snowboarding - too bulky. ;-}

I just got my Gotham one day before the temp fell below freezing. I was out getting all the snow off my car and never got cold. Love it and I know that I will be warm for years to come.

I really liked the jacket, but I returned it because it was just too big. This isn't a tight-fitting jacket. I ordered a Medium jacket, I'm am 5'10" 165lbs., and it engulfed me. In other news, I had some problems with the zipper on the fur strip attachment to the hood, but hey... that's pretty much all zippers for you!

I was window shopping on the 26th Dec 06 and saw in my local Blacks store a really nice North Face Jacket, It wasn't the usual thing Id go for (furry hood), I always think of the Parka Jacket from the 70's where the hood rolled so far forward it got the name of 'The Snorkel Jacket', I never liked those jackets.
However this Gotham Jacket I'd make exceptions for. It's waterproof, windproof and breathable. Three reasons why I decided it was on my shortlist. As a big bloke and one of life's hot blooded creatures I tend to give off a lot of heat and can perspire, OK SWEAT, quite a bit. This jacket takes care of it due to it's wonderful breathability. It's also extremely light in weight for such a jacket and I think that helps as you're not carrying a weight on your back which would usually bring you out in a sweat.
As I live in the UK I was glad to get this Jacket for the cold weather we have had this Jan / Feb 07. I know it's not the cold you guys get in the US, but hey, nights at -5 here is pretty cold OK.
A first class purchase, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good breathable, water and windproof jacket. A real first class product.

Backcountry came through for me. i was looking for this coat in NYC and it was sold out everywhere. the coat came delivered just before the temperature plummeted, and i couldn't be happier. very warm and looks great.

This coat will keep you warm, but it is a bit puffy for the NY subway. The hand pockets are too small. There really isn't anywhere to store your hat and gloves. The furry hood keeps your face warm and is great for zoned out walking, but gives you no peripheral vision (be careful crossing the street). Overall I like it. I can't wait to really put it to use (it was 60F today - it's fricken January!).

Nice jacket! It is exceptionally warm, though I've yet to test it below 30 degrees (F). That will come soon here in southwestern Ohio. Nice fit, though cut bigger than the sizing would suggest. The outer fabric is exceptionally tough and abrasion resistant. My only complaint is about a strange pocket over the heart. If you're not careful, its odd design will result in things falling out - there's no bottom, just a flap with an internal pocket that you have to hunt to find. Oh, and the hood adjustment devices are not easy to use, especially if you have gloves on. But, overall, an exceptional jacket.

The North Face makes excellent down jackets, but I bought the Gotham for looks. It stands out as more urban than their other jackets. I love the military bomber jacket feel to it, especially the zippered sleeve pocket.
It's warm enough for everyday use in the Canadian winter, without being excessively toasty. The fur-lined hood is a nice addition for those windy, snowy days when you have to shovel your driveway 2-3 times a day.
Also, contrary to Backcountry's product description, the Gotham's HyVent material is in fact waterproof and seam-sealed.

The jacket is nice, it’s not too cold yet so I haven’t worn it much. As usual, shopping experience with this site is awesome, definitely go with them.

This jacket is so warm. Also, the temperature was below 0 and I didn't even feel cold. One thing wrong is that the end of jacket is like sweater. I don't like that. Anyways the jacket is very good I give it a thumbs up. Mcmurdo is good but it is too puffy. This jackets is better.

Everyone around me is so jealous of this coat. It is the best coat ever for getting through a cold NYC winter. It has a lovely weight to it, it's comforting but still feels light when you put it on. I hate layering so it's perfect for me, I usually just wear a T-shirt under it, even when it's under 20 degrees outside. That way when I get into the subway and have to wait around, I can just take it off and be cool and comfortable. The hood is fantastic, and all the little pockets inside are really useful and convenient. The coat is really stylish too.

This coat is so warm, absolutely no complaints. Was in 18F weather this weekend and wasn’t cold. I like this coat better than the McMurdo because it’s not as long and has better hand pockets, and also has a pocket for my iPod and headphone!

The look and the fit of the jacket is real good. I can't wait ’till the weather gets colder, so I can actually wear it. Iut I know one thing, I'll be very warm and satisfied with the jacket!
