The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant - Women's - 2007
North Face Women's Meridian Convertible Pants convert to shorts for optimum versatility. The lightweight, abrasion resistant nylon fabric is bombproof. Slide down slickrock while you're canyoneering, it's OK. The sanded finish provides a soft cotton-like feel, and the elastic waist with drawcord creates a secure, individualized fit. The Meridian Convertible Pant folds into its own right rear zip pocket for packing ease.
Bottom Line: Shorts one minute, pants the next.

watch your size

Mailed these back because the size was too small. I've never been more than a ten, but these didn't fit. Great material and cut though. Bummed i couldn't get them in my size. Just watch out for what you order -- it's a pain in the arse to mail things back.
Good zip-off pants for short woman

These pants are comfortable and a good length for both the shorts and the longs for a woman who is 5'1", 110lbs in a Small Short.
What size is good for w woman 5'5" tall and about 100
What size is good for w woman 5'5" tall and about 100 lbs?
these do not fit a tall woman

This was one of three pair of pants I ordered. All were a disappointment because they did not have a proportionally longer rise. I sent them all back. Why would a manufacturer lengthen the inseam, and not the rest of the pants? I'm 5'll" 150 lbs. btw.
They will fit everyone else!!

These pants were incredible, and it pained me that they didn't fit. perfect zipper pockets, plus they can become capri's! Only spot they didn't fit, was right at zip off. I am a short large woman, and XL sometimes fit. It was close, but the pants and this company are amazing!
Fit to Form
By: vbras
September 24, 2007
These pants fit to form, I am 5'9" and had to get the long to make sure they were long enough(so they didn't look like highwaters). I am a size 8 in most pants so I ordered a Medium and these fit to my form but I wanted a roomier version so I am ordering the Men's size medium (which is what my husband got, and it is a little baggier but fits perfect for what I want. It also has a tie waist in case it's too loose. Good quality, zip off is nice option.

Liked: grey color; light-weight, short inseam (for short-legged people)
Disliked: Some wrinkling (not too bad)and high waist.
Love these pants!!!

These convertible pants are the best! The fabric is very soft and feels good next to your skin, and the fit is perfect. I'm so glad I bought them.
Traveling in Convertibles

My wife ordered the Convertible Pant but having the zipper touch her leg was too uncomfortable and so we returned the item. Re-ordering Pants without Zip-Off legs was the solution. All is well now.
Nice look, but...

I ordered these because they were the only convertibles I could find that come in multiple lengths, and I'm a tallie. So the look was nice, or at least better than my former convertibles (which looked a lot like capris on my long legs). The problem was in the performance. I tried to wear them for a 14 mile hike in Zion, by about mile 3, my inner thighs were so chafed from the convertible seams that I had to change.
Tough, versatile, and comfy

I chose to buy these pants mainly because they come in a long inseam. I'm tall, and most pants are too short for me, but these are just the right length. They have a higher waist than most other pants I've tried - it hits right at my natural waist line (if you want a lower cut waist, try the North Face Paramount pants). The fabric has a light, airy, comfortable feel, but it makes a bit of a swishy sound when I walk, and it attracts lint and cat hair. I really appreciate the ability to roll these pants up to mid-calf length - they are so cute as capris! The zip-off feature is nice too, and I like that the zippers are labeled left and right so it's easier to get the legs back on. I wore them to the beach and accidentally sat in some sticky tar. I thought for sure that the pants were ruined! I used Goo Gone and a scrub brush to get the tar out. After several brisk scrubbings, and about 8 consecutive washings with hot water, I was afraid the area I had scrubbed would look more worn than the rest of the pants, or else the pants would just completely fall apart. But to my surprise, the pants survived the ordeal and still look new. If you saw them now, you would never know what I put them through. I'm very impressed! Overall, I'm really happy with these pants, and will probably buy a second pair in a different color.
Very comfortable and light

Really comfortable, so much so that I was glad I brought one pair in black and one brown pair as I have been wearing them every weekend. They also wash up well and I like the fact that if you take the legs off you have L and R tags to tell you which side to rezip.
Not pretty, but sooo comfy

I've worn these on two hikes; they've been great both times. They kept away bugs and weeds, and the pockets provide so much storage space you almost don't need a daypack. The fit is baggy and not very flattering, but you don't need to be a fashion plate in the backcountry, so who really cares? One touch I really liked--the zip-off leg portions are marked "R" and "L" on the zipper tabs. It makes life a lot easier when you're trying to re-attach the legs.
Excellent pants

These lightweight pants are perfect for hiking in cool weather. I love having all the pockets to put stuff in and I especially love the ability to roll the cuffs up to the calf. Having the ability to wear shorts when the weather gets warm is a big plus. I am 5'10" and the length is perfect for boots. They are not short like most regular size pants I find that come to the ankles. Perfect!

I opted to buy these pants after having a hard time finding them in stores. The material is scrumptiously soft but does tend to collect lint. If you are short you may have to hem them. I am 5'1" and they are about 2 1/2" too long. Other than that I absolutely love them.
Great value

These pants are a great price, and fit well for tall people, but are not super rugged and don't last long when rock climbing.
Great pants!

I have searched and searched for the past years to find convertible pants that fit right and actually look half-way decent, and finally I have found some. They fit great! I'm 5'5'' and the length on the small/reg is perfect. They even look pretty good as shorts. To say the least, I'm so relieved to finally find a pair of convertible pants that I love. They do come a little high on the waist since I would prefer for them to rest more on my hips, but they are still very comfortable. I'm so excited!!

These are perfect for hiking. Theyre very lightweight with lots of pockets and a very good fit. The zippers to convert to shorts were easy to operate.
Big and Baggy but the Best

I don't always like wearing oversized anything, but these are a must do when hiking in the rainforest and places where pants (for bugs) are needed as much as zipping down to shorts. They have room to move, lots of pockets, and are so LIGHT. They dry well and feel soft. Because I can use them as shorts or pants I need think I need just one more pair! BTW - check out The North Face Chelsea Shorts - they give more shape and I absolutely love them.

These pants fit like custom-made pants, for me anyways. I have them in three colors, and I use them every time I hike. My hiking style is fast, and aggressive, so I don't want to deal with any discomfort from my clothing while I'm trying to get up the mountain a few minutes faster than the day before. With these pants, I can focus on my workout, and I like the zippered pocket on the left leg to slip my lip balm into, its very convenient. Also, if you happen to be doing an easier hike and then going to lunch, they are nice enough to wear into most casual eateriesas long as you're not covered in dirt.
Meridian Pants Vs. Wind River Mountains
By: amyz
June 21, 2006
I purchased these pants to replace my North Face pants, which I'd had for years and years. These pants passed the test on three trips to the Wind Rivers in Wyoming so far this summer. The temperature changes from high 80s to low 40s; even with an occasional snow shower. The pants were easily stripped to shorts that were a comfortable hiking length. Sitting on rocks, slipping over downfallen limbs, and trekking through creeks, they showed no wear. After a quick wash, they were as good as new. With every wear, I love them even more. Can't wait to go on the next hike. Wish they had ankle zippers to slip over my Vasque hiking shoes, though.
These pants rock!

Incredibly durable. I've slid down a few rock faces in these, and no tears. So lightweight you don't even have to remove the legs when its hot. They are cool and dry very fast. Two suggestions: Put zippers or buttons on the outside pants seams so you can remove the bottoms without having to take off boots. Also, make the waist a little wider. I have a tiny waist and the waist is still a little too narrow for comfort while hiking. Still great though.
All around great fit

I have long legs, so I hate to buy pants online unless I know the brand. I took a chance with these, and they fit great. The size 8 was perfect and they are very comfortable to long enough. I also love that they are 3-way convertible, so it will save on packing on my next adventure.
Not true to size

The pants themselves seemed like they would be nice, lightweight hiking pants. However I ordered a medium (which I alway get in Northface pants) and they were way too small. I exchanged them for the Northface Paramount Porter pants which are numerically sized.
Lightweight zip-off pants

I really like these pants. They are nice and comfortable. The problem with most zip-off pants is they have no styling, they are usually big and baggy. These are fitted without being too tight. Also the shorts have a short inseam so when you zip off the legs, the shorts don't hang down to your knees. They are also lighweight and comfortable underneath the hip belt of a backpack.
Nice...but

June 5, 2007
I bought these pants and was really excited to wear them on my first trip of the season. The inseam is really low which caused irritation and the size chart did not fit my normal size. Also, there is only 1 cargo pocket, which is not enough in the back country. Pants also collect lint and every bit of dirt and fox tail around. Better to try these on first and be prepared to look like a lint collector.

Good for the Forests and under brush in Florida, keeps bugs away. A little long in the leg if you are 5' 4" or shorter.

I've tried about every convertible pant out there and by far my favorite is this. The fabric is soft, dries quickly, and comes in good colors. they also convert into capris for a more fashionable look when traveling in cities. The waist band isn't overly tight as many are on woman's pants too. I have two and they travel the world with me.

Women's The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant. Like the pant features, fabric color and textue. Thesepant run way too small. I have other north face pants in Large and they fit fine. These XL pants wrere so small I could not get them up over my knees!!
I think these are for children.

The material is so soft and lightweight. Dries quickly too! I like the convertible feature. Very fashionable and functional! And I'm so happy you offer these in short length!! Thank you!
Great pants!

First of all, the fit is perfect--not bulky like some other brands. And the fact that they can be worn as long pants, capris or shorts just makes them terrific! I already ordered another pair in a different color.
I think it's an irregular pair.

I got 2 pants in the same size and one of them causes a rash around the zipper area because it is snug. The khaki pair is comfortable. Maybe the gray pair was just irregular. Very lightweight, I am planning on using them when we go to Egypt in the summer!

Just got back from a trek in Peru - I love these pants. Mornings were cool but then quickly turned hot so it was great to be able to zip off the legs. Plus - got caught in rain/hail storm and the pants were dry by the next morning just by hanging in the tent! Highly recommend these!!!
