The North Face Venture Side Zip Pant - Womens - 2006
The North Face Women's Side Zip Pant keeps you dry and comfortable during travel, trekking, and almost any mountain adventure. Lightweight, waterproof, and breathable, the Venture Side Zip pant stuffs easily into its own left pocket—leave it in your pack for unexpected cold fronts and inclement weather, or wear it as a comfortable travel piece. Full-length two-way side zippers provide plenty of venting when the going gets warm. The Venture features HyVent DT, a highly breathable, waterproof fabric with a raised microdot inner surface that acts to lift the shell fabric away from your skin. This provides a comfortable, soft, easy-sliding feel while maximizing moisture transport away from your skin. The result: you stay drier and warmer. It takes on wet climates with ease, and includes a Velcro waist adjustment, two hand pockets, and easy cuff closure to keep out the elements from below.
Bottom Line: All-around weather protection combined with high-tech breathability at an incredible price.

Great Rain Pants

I bought these for my wife as a tech. shell and that's exactly what they're being used as. They are water tight and vent very well! The cut is really nice for some curves and they don't fall easily with any impact. She love them!
Long, and the cuffs can't be adjusted much.

In the "Tech Specs", the waist is described as having a drawstring. This is not accurate; there is no drawstring. However, the waist can be adjusted with Velcro tabs at the sides.
The inseam length is 32". I am 5'4". I tried to take up the extra length using the "cuff closure" mentioned in the product description. However, when the Velcro is engaged to the greatest extent possible, the circumference of the cuff is 16", so the hem still sags to the floor. I just can't see waddling around in rain pants this long, so I will have to return them. They do have some nice features, though, and for a taller person they would probably work well.
Waterproof and Lightweight

I used both the jacket and the pants kayaking and adventuring in British Columbia for six days in July (50 to 70F). They were both waterproof and lightweight, breathable and surprising tough. All I needed in addition to the jacket and pants was underarmor Cold Gear and I was set.
