The North Face Rock 22 Footprint - 2008
The North Face Rock 22 Footprint will greatly prolong the life of your Rock 22 tent by protecting its floor from sharp rocks and other abrasives. This footprint also enables you to perform fly-only pitching. Leave the tent body at home, and pitch just the fly over the footprint to create a lightweight shelter that shaves pounds from your pack or works as an emergency rain shelter or sunshade.
Bottom Line: A tent without a footprint is like a home without a foundation.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. If you buy the Rock 22, this footprint is a must. Keeps out moisture in heavy rain, keeps tent floor safe from rocks and sticks, and is super light for packing (fits easily in the tent bag). This footprint is simply a must.
Good idea, but has a flaw

The concept of a footprint is a good idea, overall. Footprints are lighter and easier to pack than a tarp and they save your tent bottom. The issue I have is when it rains, these act like a funnel and channel the rain water under your tent. While this can happen with a tarp, it's much more likely with the footprint in my opinion.

So much better than a tarp; packs small, light, and easy to use. Why would you use anything else?

Rock 22 is a light tent, easy for packing in. I plan on having it for years and would suggest it to others.
