Timberland Cadion Mid With Gore-Tex XCR Membrane - Men's

The Timberland Men's Cadion Mid Hiking Boots won the Backpacker Magazine's 2006 Editor's Choice Award for boots. Timberland constructed the lightweight Men's Cadion Mids with a Gore-Tex XCR membrane and a memory foam cuff to give you maximum support and breathable waterproof protection for single and multi-day adventures. A Gore-Tex XCR membrane and a Shoeller textile upper provide exceptional strength, breathablity, and waterproofing while only weighing 2lb 3oz (size 9, pair). While Gore-Tex keeps your feet dry, a channeled mesh lining and a tri-zoned removable footbed in each boot promote healthy air circulation. The specially designed Vibram outsole provides bomber traction and the memory foam cuff supports your ankles so you move quickly and with confidence over varied terrain. Hike anywhere in these burly lightweight boots, even on glaciers—they are flexible crampon compatible.

Bottom Line: Backpacker magazine concurs: these boots rule. Timberland included a Gore-Tex membrane in the Cadion Mid Hiking Boot, giving you a burly hiking boot to wear anywhere.

Timberland cadion

I took these boots out of the box and put them on without any break in time and went on 3 hikes up a couple of the mountain trails in Antigonish,NS. We went on a rainy night and had to go through tough wooded areas and walk over a huge beaver dam. The whole time my feet were under the water going over the dam and I never got my feet wet. These boots are extremely comfortable and I would recommend them to anybody. The only negative about them I could find is if you don't have a narrow foot, do not buy them. They are fairly narrow boots. Other than that they are exactly what they claim to be.

Excellent!

These are very resistant, cool and lightweight boots! They grab to you ankle very nicely and if feels really good to walk all day with them. You might want to use some cotton thick socks with it. There was no need to do any break in. Just make sure your ankle is not loose.

Not a bad boot

I had to return these because of a fit problem. The boot has a low volume foot area and the lack of padding behind the offset ankle grommet caused it to press into the ankle bone. Other than that the boot seemed to be well constructed . I would add I have a very hard foot to fit so for me this is not unusual.

Great fitting, but maybe too delicate

I bought a pair of these based on a review in a magazine. They fit my narrow, low volume feet very well. Large volume or wide feet would definitely have a hard time with these. The break in time is non-existent, and they are super light. Waterproofing is good, and they breathe well. However, I wore them on day hikes in Acadia NP (very rocky) for about a week, and on a 50 miler in the NJ pine barrens. Both shoes developed cracks in the Vibram outsole, right where the heels are. I glued them up to finish the hike, but they continued to tear. I read another review that also stated they tore on the outsole, only at a different place. I sent them back to Timberland and they replaced them no questions asked within two weeks. So, I'd say it's a great boot if you don't mind sending it back to Timberland every season. As long as they keep replacing them, I am fine with that.

Perfect boot

This is the best fitting hiking boot I have ever had. I have a low volume narrow foot and this boot seems like it was custom made. This leads me to believe this won't do real well on the market because I don't see how it would fit a normal size foot. Anyway, the boot is light, fits like a dream, and seems very rugged although I have not given it a good test in that regard yet. It also looks pretty cool with the yellow accents. Overall, I am very pleased and look forward to some big hikes with this boot.
