Suunto GPS POD
Suunto GPS POD
The Suunto GPS POD transmits speed and distance on any terrain, which makes it an ideal choice for bikers, runners, kayakers, and skiers alike. This small GPS unit replaces inaccurate pedometers and wirelessly transmits data to a t3, t4, or t6 watch. All speed and distance information combines with the heart rate data provided by the watch for extremely informative post-workout analysis.
Bottom Line: Rough trails, smooth road, or open water—the Suunto GPS POD provides accurate data on any terrain.

I just bought the watch and the foot pod. I am planning on training for a sprint triathlon, and it seems as though people favor this more than the foot pod for correctness in measurements. Is that your experience? Also, how does this attach to one's body?

The pod itself fits into an armband which has a velcro strap. You put it on like you're getting your blood pressure read. Of course it's smaller than that...a little larger than those i-pod armbands.
As for correctness, I can't verify that it is better than a footpod (since I've never run with one) but my GPS Pod does give consistent distance readings for the same route over multiple sessions. Compared to Google Earth, my GPS distances are reasonably accurate. Compared to my friend's Garmin, my GPS distances are consistently short by about 0.1-0.2 miles. Not sure which to trust though.....
