Will this product work to lock a trunk mounted bike rack to the car?

In theory, yes. The big question is how will it be attached physically to the car? I understand small straps that go beneath bumpers and hooks around trunk hatches, but those can be easily circumvented/removed.

Basically you'll have to run the locking rope through your entire trunk compartment, or come up with some other highly creative routing for it to be effective.
