Smith Knowledge OTG Goggle - 2008
Having your eyeglasses frost over under a pair of goggles is not rad. The Smith Knowledge OTG Goggles use a Regulator adjustable lens ventilation system to help prevent fogging and icing on your eyeglasses. The large fit slides easily over your glasses, and you can control the amount of airflow that comes through the top vents of these Smith goggles. A floating membrane alleviates eyeglass-temple pressure so you won't suffer from head-stuck-in-a-vise syndrome, and a custom painted frame keeps these goggles fashion-friendly.
Bottom Line: No more fogged glasses and sore temples.

The simple truth is I wear glasses and I hate it. Before I would go on to the mountain with my Spy goggles and no glasses. This ended badly. So I gave these Smiths a shot. They fit great and the vents work as advertise in keeping everything fog free. However, there is always a however, when you stop moving, your glasses start to fog up. The goggles aren't the problem, I would imagine that any goggles designed to be worn over glasses will perform similarly. The only time Im not moving is when I come to the bottom of the run, I then just wear the goggles round my neck, problem solved. Thats a small price to pay to be able to see the details in the snow. I might give the antifog stuff designed for Scuba diving.

My eyes are very sensitive to bright light. I have been using the Smith PMT Airflow google for the past several years because when I bought them they had the darkest lenses available. However on bright days I have to wear sunglasses under the PMT lenses in order to get adequate screening. What is the darkest lense (for any make or model of google) that you offer. Do they specify the transmissivity of google lenses as they do for sunglasses? I am looking for something in the range of 95% visible light reduction.

yes click on "size chart" for a light transmission chartthe darkest smith lense is gold sol-x mirror (at 7% transmission), the darkest oakley lenses are a four way tie with black iriduim being the most common (at 10% transmission), gold mirror for anon lenses (at 10% transmission)and its not on the site but the darkest von zipper lense is bronze chrome (at 9% transmission)...those are all the brands that i could find with transmission charts on this site, but if you need more info than that you could go digging aroud each companys website--------------------Speaking from experience, the Smith Gold Sol-X is really really dark. Looking straight into the setting sun wasn't even uncomfortable.

One Eyed Dude of Spokane has to wear glasses for protection...

Well, after an onslaught of freezing, frosty snow, that clung to everything, including goggles, I finally had to get a new pair...as an individual who needs eye protection because I only have one eye, it was imperative that I find a goggle that fit over my polycarbonite impact resistant glasses and after careful review and study, and budget constraints, I believe the Smith Knowledge OTG goggle fills the bill nicely...although they do fog up when I amble into the steaming hot lodge, I noticed that everyones goggles were also fogged up. I use a Smith No Fog cloth on the outside and that works well until I bite it and get them all packed with snow. They are super comfy and provide exceptional vision and seem to be fairly "scratch resistant" at this point. I have the RC36 lens in them and my only wish would be to have a more amber colored lens because at the end-of-the-day, I did have a little contrast perception difficulty. Overall though, ya can't beat this pair of goggles and they are a great bargain for around $60 smacker's. As a snowboard instructor, I often am either standing around a lot or moving very slowly down the bunny hill and have had no fogging issues with the goggle nor my glasses, but like I said, use of the Smith No Fog cloth helps considerably.

I love these goggles. Excellent peripheral vision. Fit my big face/melon nicely (XL helmet). I don't even wear glasses but will be looking for another pair of these this summer when they go on sale. I ski 20+ days a year in Colorado. Never ever a problem with fogging (I wear a helmet). These are definitely substance over style. You decide which is important.

I agree with Iggy that they do fog up when you stop moving. But you can purchase an anti-fogging product (smiths no-fog cloth) which will help a lot. I have went through over five pairs of goggles just to find the right one, and i have. It's got a great design and its the most comfortable I have worn.
