Smith Phenom Goggle

We all know that the three most important things with goggles these days are:
1. How they fit your face.
2. How they interface with your helmet.
3. How sweet are the optics.

Well the Phenom crushes it in all three categories. The fit is super sweet for men and women (my wife rocks 'em) and they fit seamlessly with Smith brain buckets like the Holt and the Variant Brim (which I use). I'm a freak when it comes to optics, so these goggs more than pass the test, especially with the Sensor Mirror or Platinum Mirror. (I love to Platinum Mirror for sun, Sensor for clouds/ snow) Plus they have so many dope styles you won't look like the other guy in the Gondi line.

If you've been thinking of getting these goggles then no more thinking. Go and get 'em!

I've been skiing with these for a few years now and when they wear out, I'm replacing them with the exact same thing. I've used these in flat light, low light, direct sunlight, worm weather, cold weather, you name it. They don't steam up when I'm hiking the Bowl, they don't leave the gaper gap in between the goggles and the helmet (I don't even wear a Smith helmet), and they don't block my peripheral vision. They have shown flying colors in every situation I've thrown at them. Plus, if you look around at the reviews here, you'll notice that Chris Davenport thinks they're the business. I'm not one to drool over celebrity endorsement, but that's a pretty damn good one.

These things have sick optics, (I use the evolve sensor and wall street ignitor lense-goggle combos) fit my medium sized face perfectly, and look quite dope in the lift lines. My vision is clear, distortion-free, and comfortable as all hell. Only problem is that swapping out lenses can be a pain in the ass, and I'm considering springing for the IO's, but I don't think I could turn my back on the phenoms.

If you have a medium or small sized face, take a look at these goggles. They fit extremely well. They are also very comfortable. The spherical lenses provide excellent clarity and a very wide field of vision. Also, smith has some of the best anti-fog technology on the market. I have never had any issues with these. I own three pairs of these. RC36 lens for everyday skiing. Sensor Mirror lens for flat light and snowy skiing. Platinum Mirror lens for bright bluebird days.

Just spent a week up in Tahoe. The weather went from one extreme to another in a matter of few hrs. No prob. No fogging, great visibility even in the hardest snow fall. Could see every bump and dip. If you've been thinking of getting these goggles it's time to stop thinking!

This is my second pair of these & I cant say anything bad about them. They fit great for a small face & they dont fog up!!!

I already wrote a review for the goggle, but this is for the lens. I ordered the Sensor Mirror as a separate lens and used it for the first time today, and I was shocked. This was hiking Highlands Bowl, windy, blustery, totally overcast, and the light was as flat as it gets. I could see every bump and every chopped up track, all the contours and dips, it was amazing. Smith's website says it's a pink lens with a blue mirror, and I don't for the life of me know how it works, but rest assured, it does. It honestly looks brighter than when you don't have goggles on. For those of you worried about their eyes, yes, people can see your eyes through this lens. But that is a small price to pay for what I am convinced is the best flat light lens ever. Period.

On sunny days, I generally wear Spy Omega goggles with platinum mirror lenses. I picked these up, however, after reading reviews of the effectiveness of the Sensor Mirror in flat light. I couldn't agree more. You really have a good field of vision with the Sensor Mirror in flat light - with the ability to see the subtle changes in the snow surface. I would note that the Sensor Mirror is not really effective in sunny conditions (as that is not its purpose). I accidently grabbed these goggles on a bluebird day in the Tahoe area, and I was squinting the whole day. With that said, once again, these are my go-to for flat light conditions. I would note that I did have some issues with fogging up (even with the vents open), but that was while wearing them in a whiteout storm while skinning a ridge. I was sweating hard, and I think any goggle would have fogged up. Finally, I would also point out that these fit a medium face (e.g., they are much smaller than the frame/lense of the Spy Omega goggles).

Sensor mirror is amazing! i can see everything

These goggles never fogged on me! They have a vent at the top of the lenses to air out the goggles, I left it open the whole time and never had any problems. The flowing air didn't dry out my contacts either. The goggles sit very comfortably on my face, I never pulled them off to relieve my face from the pressure or ended the day with red goggle rings around my face. The clip in the back was new for me and I really liked being able to snap the goggles on and off rather than over my head, hat, hood, etc. The The only downside to these is I had the platinum lenses and they are not good in low light conditions, kinda understood. However, on the more sunny days, they were perfect!

I got these goggles new for this season and can't think of anything wrong with these goggles. When you have em on the lens is crystal clear and won't fog up. Whatever that anti-fog dot does on the lens, it works. They fit the large giro helmets perfectly. The only problem I could see is if you have a helmet with a tight strap clasp on the back then this goggle might not fit as the clasp of the helmet is directly in the back which might get in the way of the helmet clasp.

I bought these. Amazing vision quality. Great Look. Only problem i had was that the lens scratches a bit too easily. Other than that, very nice goggle.

Wore these with the Smith Variant Brim and they fit together like a glove. I'm always pretty warm so have historically always had problems fogging. Have worn sunglasses the past few seasons because of that, but tearing's always a problem.

This season, skied Beaver Creek over 3 days with highly variable conditions from clear / cold, high wind / white out, and bluebird / warmer and these goggles rocked. Fogged up once when I took them off once and accidentally breathed on them, but venting took care of that within 10 secs. Otherwise, flawless performance. Also had the polarized lenses which worked like a charm.

There's a reason why not a single thing has changed on these goggles since they first came out. They are everything that a goggle should be - nothing more, and nothing less. I think that they should be placed in the Museum of Modern Art in the design wing alongside other timeless industrial design masterpieces. The fit most people better than any other goggle on the market, the lenses are durable and easy to maintain, and the optics are spectacular. Little to no fogging issues, and the colorways get steezier every year. Phenoms for life.

I have a medium face and these fit great. I wear an old school Giro Flint SC, no gap. The only thing I would change about these is how you change lenses, it can be a problem in cold weather. The hop up pieces get in the way. As far as functionality goes though these are top notch, I have never had a problem with fogging even in the worst conditions. Highly recommended.

It's a toss-up between the Phenom and the Heiress for which is my favorite goggle. What can I say? Smith goggles have excellent optics (especially those in the spherical series), and look great. The Phenoms work well on a range of face sizes and shapes, are very compatible with helmets. I used to have a Leedom helmet, and now I have the Smith Intrigue, and the Phenoms are great with both. The Platinum Mirror lenses are great for sunny days, and the Sensor Mirror are excellent on storm days. I like the Ignitor Mirror lenses for those in-between days, and for when you're in and out of the shade in the morning.

Awesome goggle. Comfortable fit, great field of vision and an anti-fog avenger all in one. The sensor mirror lens gives great vis during pretty much every condition. I bought them at the beginning of last season and they have yet to do me wrong. Even when they fog up you just open up the vents and take a run and any fog that was there is gone like that. Only flaw I had with them is that I scratched up the lens at the end of the season. I'm terrible at scratching lenses though (I've mangled a pair of Oakley crowbars and a set of Anon Figments as well).

These gogs never fog up and provide distortion-free viewing. The best goggles I've ever owned.

i won these in a competition, and i have to say, there is not one time ive ever wanted to take them off. They are probably my favorite part of my outerwear. Like the guy above me said, no gaper gap whatso ever. My favorite part about the goggle is the strap that clicks together instead of the average strap. Its a great goggle and worth your money.

These goggles aren't too bad. The strap is probably the nicest function that it clips together which makes them super nice for taking on and off. I also like being able to close and open the vent depending on how much circulation you want if your screaming down groomers or playing in the park. My one complaint is I took a color that is fairly lame. My advice: pick a color combo you like and pay a little more, otherwise you'll regret it sooner then later. P.S. get mirrored lenses they are super tight!

As one of the founders of Backcountry.com, I'm very fortunate in that I can sample lots of gear. I've skied with pretty much every make of ski goggle available. I've concluded that Smith stands above them all. They've been at this for awhile. Smith goggles have the best fit, the best look, and they are the least likely to fog up... and among Smith's goggles, the Phenom is the one. 'Nuff said. Look no further.

k - so Smith has a lot of stuff dialed-- especially when it comes to this goggle. I've used it for two years straight now and I'm super pumped on the fit-the lenses- the quality-the durability-the style ---and especially the versatility of the lenses-- smith is making goggle lenses that are good for all sorts of conditions-instead of interchanging all the time (which they make easy as well) - very happy with my gogs.
