Smith I/O Interchangeable Optics Spherical Series Goggles - Mirror Lens

the best goggles o have ever had. better than the crowbar from oakley. very easy to change lenses and has great vision. sick looking with the platinum lenses. no fog at all on the lenses with little ventilation. goes great with the smith variant brim helmet. perfect and i mean perfect combination. no gaps where air can get through as i had heard. crashed in the pow couple times and now snow slipped passed these goggles. would highly recommend even thought a little pricey. very much worth it.

Nice goggles. Great optics and field of view. The only complaint might be that there might be too many vents, as the fit was great but I could feel air hitting my face at times. Then again it was an extremely windy and cold day (lifts shut down, severe frostbite warnings and all of that).

These things rock! Sensor lense is great for those low-light days and the Ignitor works for everything else. It's a total 2 for 1! Wahoo. Anyway, I've tried to get these things to fog and haven't had any luck aside from taking them away from my face and breathing steam right in to them. Best goggle I've had. No distortion. Fit well with both my helmets (a Salomon and a Protec). Snatch a pair while you can...

Sweet, sweet goggle. These have the most comfy face foam that I've ever used, fit my Smith Hustle helmet (http://office.backcountry.com/store/SMI0490/Smith-Hustle-Helmet.html) like they were born there, and have the best peripheral vision of any goggle on out there - hands down! After a few face shots (okay, it was more like crashing on my face) they didn't fog up a bit. I had heard that the quick release system ended up making for a goggle that was a little more 'touchy' when it came to fogging. I had no such issues. They did fog up some when sitting up on my beanie (all goggles will) but they de-fogged themselves in a few seconds once I got moving. Skiing switch is a breeze with the frameless design. You don't need to turn your head much at all, just a peek over the shoulder is all it takes to get a good visual thanks to the peripheral vision of these perfect goggles. They are spendy, but don't forget that you'll get your goggles, two lenses, a goggle bag, and a case to keep it all together. Pretty money!

After a long and fruitless search for a goggle that fits with my 2009 RED mutiny helmet, I have stumbled upon the lifesaving waters of Smith's I/O. It snugs up under the visor with ease, actually fits my face (which is usually large specs only), good peripheral vision, and lens changing is so easy it almost hurts. The sensor mirror and ignitor mirror give you everything you could ever ask for any conditions. Smith optics are crystal clear. Costs a good chunk of change, but save all those pennies and your eyes will thank you.

These 'ere gagles are the bees knees. Seriously though, used them on a couple of occasions and they perform great. They defog really well, despite what it may look like, and they have an excellent FOV. Really where it comes in to play with smith though is the Sensor lens. They are amazing. They provide some of the best low light, poor vis, definition that I've seen in a goggle. Seriously consider picking up a pair of these or the Phenoms. All in all I like the Phenoms a bit better as they seem to stay fog free a bit better.

This goggle is very cool. Not only does it well ventilate, but it's so easy to switch your lens with the extra lens it comes with. When I bought this goggle I though that was it. Oh no, it comes with an extra lens for foggy days, a soft goggle bag, and a hard shell goggle case with extra storage for multiple lenses. I also own the Variant Brim helmet and with the two combined I have yet to have any unnecessary fogging issues, even when skinning in the backcountry. To sum everything up, this goggle has it all!

The I/Os are some of the most functional and easy-to-use frames that I have ever owned! Swamping lenses when the clouds roll in has never been so simple. The fit on these is amazing, and I love the look of the spherical lens. If you are looking for a goggle with all the features and the looks, I would totally recommend the Smith I/O!!!!

I had these last season and had the air coming in around the nose problem like others have mentioned. They've changed that this year by thickenning the foam thus providing a better seal. Tried on a pair, had my girl take a look from underneath to see if there were any gaps. Nada. Great value too with two lenses and the hard case.

I love the I/O goggle, the evolve edition is made from mostly recycled plastic, and the super quick interchangeable lens option is sick. I can change a lens in seconds, on the lift, at the top of a line, where ever; it's fast and sweet. They have great peripheral vision, and fit perfectly with smith helmets. With the updated face foam they fit better when worn with a hat to.

I played with these goggles for the better part of 70 days of snow last season. My set up was with the variant brim helmet and with this i say AMAZING integration. No goggles gap and looked super cool. Pros: easy swapping of supplied ignitor and sensor lens. Super wide field of view. No rims, all lens. very nice. Cons: lens latch broke in freezing weather, super disappointed. Depending on the shape of your face, sometimes had a gap around the nose area. Had to wear them lower on face which gave more room for goggle gap up top. I sent them back along with the variant brim at the end of the season. I was torn between getting the updated 09 models but decided to stick with Phenoms and Hustle helmet. Cheaper and proven!

I've been using Smith goggs since I was in diapers and this is my favorite one yet. They offer the biggest, most unobstructed field of vision I've seen along with the best style. I'm hard on my gear, and one of the things I had to learn was to keep my hands off the edges of the lens since its not as protected by the frame as in a conventional design. Easy lens change, hardly ever fog unless you mistreat them... I mean do I need to say more?

PROS: Swapping lenses is ridiculously easy. Wide field of vision. Looks high-tech to justify the price. It integrates well with SMITH brand helmet, I used it with the Hustle helmet, and they were made for each other. CONS: The gasket that seals the lens to the goggle frame has a tendency to leak in certain situations. Louie Fountain complained about this very thing to me on a pow day in Mt. Baker. Also, depending on the shape of your face, it might not fit correctly around the nose area, as some people have already mentioned. Flat faced people like me will have a huge gap around the nose unless you sag it real low. I personally wear the Prodigy goggles more often, or a Japan/Asian fit Fuse Regulators that I special ordered from japan (It has thicker foam around the nose for flat faces).

I tried several goggles before pulling the trigger on these. The I/Os are great. Great field of vision, comes with two superb lenses (bright and low light conditions), good fit for my medium face, dont fog, and look cool- kinda a darth vader look with the big mirrored lens but not over the top. Come with a very nice hard case to store your investment. Five stars

Changing lenses, it sucks (ahem...Oakley). If you think it really sucks and you have the right kind of face, then this goggle is right up your alley. The switch is simple: Flip up the top tabs, pull off the top, pull off the sides, then pull off the bottom part of the frame. BOOM! The lens is off! To stick a new lens in, just go in reverse. Without a doubt, the easiest lens changing system so far in the industry. There is more though. The amount of vision you get top-to bottom and peripherally is surprisingly large. It also comes with either the Ignitor lens (a decent all around to sunny lens) and the Sensor Mirror lens(one of the best low light lenses in the industry). Now for the bad, there isn't much. The frame is definitely for the larger faces out there and a small amount of people have complained about an annoying amount of air coming in through the bottom. Overall, those people with bigger faces and problems switching out lenses, prepare for Nirvana!

smith i/o goggles are well constructed, comfortable and stylish. super easy to change out the lens, super nice that two lenses are included! where they miss the mark a bit is that they tend to leak a bit and cause a draft around your eyes.. the main issue w/ any goggle is fogging, while these do a better job than most they are not immune from fogging.. when the industry figures out how to totally eliminate fog, we will be golden...

The lenses are relatively easy to pop in and out. The goggles don't fog up too easily, and clear pretty quickly if they do. They have a good field of view, and they look sick. My only gripe is that the lenses aren't labeled. I'm not even sure which one I have in right now. I might have to break out the dremel and carve a label into them or something. Still, they're pretty nice.

These goggs make you feel like you a savvy F16 jet fighter. Your range of sight is better than any goggle, the ease of changing out your lenses is no longer a frustration, and you get to pretend you are flying an F16 or a single prop plane from the 40's - your choice.

these things are awesome. i got rolled up and had to clean out the lens. the following run was a bit foggy and hazy but after airing them out on the lift everything was back to normal with a couple nominal water drops. oh and changing the lens has honestly never been easier. only problem is that i have to sag the goggles quite a bit for them to fit my face just right...but i can live with that

I have the Smith Variant Brim helmet that I use with the I/O gogg. My favorite thing about using them together is the way that the ventilation is set up on the helmet lines up perfectly with the vents on the I/O, so even though there are no lens vents (which I thought was sketchy at first) it still ventilates well enough that I don't ever have a fog problem, even hiking all over at Alta. The only downside that I should let you know about is that when I wear them with a hat they are not quite as tight around my nose as I normally prefer, but that could also be my head shape...
