Smith Threshold Interchangeable Sunglasses - Polarized
The Smith Threshold Polarized Sunglasses are poised to hurl off whatever edge it is you walk. Snowy cornices, rocky mountain bike trails or the edge of the dock, the Thresholds' interchangeable lenses let you get the vision you need for every activity in one comfortable set of sports shades. The Thresholds have Hydrophillic Megol rubber nose pads that won't give you pressure points on your schnozz and actually stick better when they're wet with sweat or water. Polarized lenses eliminate the horizontal glare off water and other flat surfaces for incredible clarity. Basically, you can count on the Thresholds staying on your face no matter what high-energy activity you're engaged in.
Bottom Line: Take it to the edge, then step on over.

Very lightweight, snug fit, easy to change lenses (polarized glasses comes with clear, yellow, red, and brown lenses). I use these for mountain biking and I love them. Cheaper and just as comfortable as Oakley. Way easy to change these lenses compared to other brands I have tried.
worth the extra for polarized.

this is a super lightweight and easily transferable lens. very easy to swap in/out when conditions change. by far one of the best setups for variable light conditions. ever.
now, if only they weren't stolen with the rest of my worldly possessions! keep these under lock and key. they've been known to be pilfered by your spouse.

Great Glasses

I love the fact that Smith has interchangeable lenses. This is huge when you are dealing with different times of the day. as far as these glasses go, much better than the Slider 01 series. The lenses are easier to take in and out, and seems like they are most stable. When these glasses sit on your face, they just take over. They are light, and wrap completely around my odd shaped head. They stick to my face even when I am sweating a lot. They come with a nice case with 3 extra colored lenses. I would recommend these glasses to anyone who is into Biking, hiking, or any outdoor sports. I will never go with another brand but Smith......Oakley--never again!!
The best sunglassses

These are the best sunglasses that I have ever owned. I purchased them for my African Safari, which I have yet to go on, however since I misplaced my military issued Oakleys, I used the Smith's to run with on a very bright and windy day in Iraq. They stayed on my face and kept the sand and wind from affecting my vision. Best of all, they are so light weight that you don't feel them on your face, if anything you notice them when you are not wearing them and wish you had, as I did the next morning, during my pitch black early morning run. The sun was gone but the wind was still kicking, I regretted leaving them behind. BTW, I still haven't found my Oakley's, but I am not looking too hard for them because changing out the lenses on the Oakleys is like wrestling a very small alligator that will break easily if you don't do it right. With the Smith's, all you do is slide the lenses in and out of the frame, way easier!
can you switch the lenses out for prescription?
can you switch the lenses out for prescription?

To my knowledge yes you can, but you would have to have Smith make you a prescription specific lens. I do know that they do such a thing. I would just give them a call at 800-635-4401 and see what they can do for you.

Smith does not make a prescription lenses for Thresholds. I even took my pair in to a local shop that does custom lenses and even they could not do it due to the design of the Threshold frame.
I know it sounds like a great idea to swap in a prescription lenses but I just don't think it's practical.
I like Smith sunglasses but for prescription I'd go with Oakley. Smith customer service was not very helpful to me at all despite the fact one is able to speak to a live person fairly easily. I got the impression that they could really give a rat's ass about helping me find a prescription pair of their glasses.

These are great sunglasses. I love the interchangeable lenses; you get 4 sunglasses in one. However, they do not come with a protective case. Overall- great quality and value.

I was hesitant to buy sunglasses online since it's hard for me to find one that fits my face. I saw these on sale and picked it up and they fit perfect! Light, snugged, and I love the fact that I can change the lenses. The lifetime warranty is also nice since I've broken a number of sunglasses so far. Hopefully this will be my last one. Fast shipping from this site.

Received the glasses at a great price--$40 less than what I could find in stores. Very nice product.

These sunglasses are just what I was looking for--pretty much a 4-in-1 deal. Ideal for days on the slopes, beach wear, hiking and biking, these are some of the best sunglasses I've owned. They actually stay on my face--even during that occasional wipeout.
WOW, VERY Impressed!

I spent the past 10 years buying nothing but cheap $3 sunglasses and got fed up with them always breaking on me. I finally decided to by the Smith Thresholds because of Smith's reputation as well as the versatility of the interchangeable lenses. I am so impressed by the quality of the sunglasses that I will never buy another pair of cheap sunglasses again. Overall, an excellent experience.
Excellent Quality! Recomended!

Bought my first pair of Smith sunglasses back in 2000. I thought I'd never pay this much for a pair of shades. Took my chances and it paid off! Those Smith Sliders lasted six years. (I finally lost them or they would have lasted ten+} I was so impressed by the quality and durability I wouldn't even consider owning any other brand of sunglasses. I got online and found these Smith Threshold shades here at Backcountry.com cheaper than anywhere else. These are the model closest to the pair I lost. I got them within four days as promised. These shades are great, even better than before. Slightly lighter weight and a more balanced polarization compared to the previous model I owned. I couldn't be more satisfied!

I owned a pair of these glasses for several years and the rubber ear pieces started to wear through. I sent the pair back to Smith and they sent me a brand new pair. No cost. I was very impressed and greatful. When my new glasses fell out of the back of my bike riding to work one day and got run over by a car and completely destroyed I did not even hesitate and bought a brand new pair. I love the light weight feel of these glasses

Light, durable, good looking, and easily changed lenses. What's not to love? Highly recommended.

Polarized lenses are excellent for use on the water. Earpieces are bendable to fit your head better, which for me is the best feature of these! Earpieces wear through eventually (years) but Smith will send you new ones free. Yellow lenses work well for shooting and evening biking.
Don't lend them to your wife

My wife just lost the second pair of my glasses kayaking in the Broken Islands. The first pair she lost is in places unknown. I am distraught. Bullet proof glasses in all light with the choice of 4 lenses. My only complaint is that the rubber in the arms would poke through the ends and had to be handled carfully.
Biking in the evening
By: Brendan Gibson
October 1, 2007
I got these glasses because I am often mountain biking in the low light of evening, and my normal sunglasses were too dark, but I still needed something over my eyes to protect them from the wind as I rode downhill.
The clear lenses fit that need well.
The only problem I have had with these glasses is that they fogged up while running in the snow.
amazing

I won these at a work party and I was stoked, these fit my face PERFECT! My face is small. The problem with all the glasses I always have is the piece that goes behind the ear is too long and when I wear my skate helmet it shoves the tips into my head and hurts, these fit perfect with a skate helmet and are killer awesome! the lenses are super easy to take in and out and there are different lenses that come with them, the yellows are awesome for lower light conditions and great for hiking the snow after work when the sun is starting to go do. Buy these, you will love them!
