Smith Toaster Sunglasses - Interchangeable
Smith Slider Series Toaster sunglasses feature removable interchangeable lenses. Among Smith's line of sunglasses, Sliders are the call for multiple sports and varied light conditions. The Slider Toasters are one of Smith's most popular shades, and as with all Slider Series shades, each pair comes with three lens sets for specific light conditions, depending on your frame color choice. All lenses provide 100% UV protection. Toaster frames wrap slightly around your head to minimize the effects of wind, snow, glare, and errant tree branches. *See sizing chart for lens information.
Bottom Line: With interchangeable lenses, these sunglasses toast the competition.

First, I got these shades extremely fast . Very cool.
I spoke with a great tech help person while deciding if these would work for me, as I told him my dilemmas with finding shades to fit my face. I was told about these shades by many and loved the way they looked online, etc.
Wanted something that would give more coverage around the sides, but would fit the narrowness of my face. These sounded perfect. Fit dilemma is that my face is somewhat long and narrower than most, but I have big eyes and want shades to fit my face (not be too wide) and eye shape. Hard to do without trying them on, so went by referrals.
However, when I got them, they looked to be shades for a kid or someone with an extremely small head. They look awesome, but did not fit (me) at all. They fit width-wise, but the actual shades are so small that they didn't even cover my eyes. Even the great feature of the nose gripper was wasted on me, because the shades themselves were so small that I could see right over them with more than half my eye showing.
Forgive the long review, but I hope it helps with people having the same issues as me finding a fit. I would suggest finding the glasses by trying them on, and then buying them from here. =) I had read so many good reviews about the product, and the customer service was fantastic.

I've had my Smith Toasters for 5 yrs and I love them! I have a small face and they fit great. I use them year around for biking, skiing, hiking, running... The only drawback I've found is that the lens are a little hard to change and they don't seat perfectly once they've been changed.

They're cool looking and stay on your head really well. Problem is that if you're changing lenses on the fly, like while you're mountain biking, dirt can build up in the frame and scratch the lenses when you interchange them. My lenses ended up horrifically scratched. If dirt isn't in your future, then you should be fine. Just be careful.

I use these for running, cycling, kayaking, hiking, and snowboarding. I lost my first pair in the river last summer and immediately bought another pair. They are lightweight, fit well, look good, and the interchangeable lenses are great. They seem to be quite durable too.

These glasses are definitely some of the best I've ever had in terms of fitting the width of my face but the lenses are very small vertically and don't give me a lot of coverage on the bottom part. While walking over snow there is definitely a lot of reflection that gets under the glasses and I can imagine the same would be true of fishing with light reflecting off the water.

For the prices of these bad mommas were too good to pass up but smith always makes a great product. The interchangeable lens make everything you need for any duty: bike, run, fish or hunt. Good stuff thanks

I've had toasters for years now. Lost a couple pairs, bought new ones right away. The fit is great, a little on the small side. Love the interchangeable lenses. I use them for biking or running because they're pretty light.

These are the best sunglasses ever. I'm very small and these actually fit my face. They come with three lenses and the quality is superior to anything I've ever worn. I love these sunglasses and everyone tells me how great they look. They stay on and are awesome for hiking and everything else outside!

Like so many have said, these frames really do fit my little face. You can hardly tell they're on. I have the new tortoise, and I really like them - classy but sporty. They curve slightly around the face to protect on the sides very well. The lenses aren't super easy to change out, but the 3 different color options are nice. Haven't had them long enough to write about durability, but so far, these frames are fantastic.

Not a huge fan of the cherry red color, but the glasses are awesome for road riding and with the interchangeable lenses they are the best.

I was looking for a pair of sport sunglasses that I'd love for running and cycling but would also be nice looking for wearing outside of any sport. These sunglasses are perfect. They fit a small face perfectly. They're so light, you don't even feel them. And they don't slip. They sit close enough to your eyes for the best protection but don't fog and aren't so close as to be uncomfortable. The interchangeable aspect is also a bonus! These are the best glasses you'll find for the money.

I abuse my sunglasses and my only complaint is that the lenses are scratched (good think for the spares!) These are the perfect sunglasses if you're looking for something lightweight and durable. They stay put while running, hiking, skiing, climbing, etc. By far the best sunglasses I've owned in my life, especially considering how easy it is to switch out the lenses. (The only reason I'm on my third pair is because I keep losing them.)

These are the best sunglasses ever. I have gone through three pairs and I've loved all three. They handle abuse well and will fit a small face to perfection. The sticky parts on the nose piece are ideal for running. They don't slip down at all and they're super lightweight. Plus, they come in a ton of rad colors. Get them!

I used to swear by Smith sunglasses. But I switched when my polarized lenses got a stress fracture and Smith wouldn't give me the time of day. Smith will not under any circumstances, even manufacturing flaws, warranty lenses. That's an expensive replacement (especially when I've no reason to believe the lenses won't fracture again).

Really cute if you're thin and narrow-shouldered. I am usually an XS in Columbia (e.g. Stolen Kisses Parka) but would have been a medium in this had the sleeves not been too long for me!

My wife loves them. Although they are unisex glasses (my friend Todd has a pair), they have a slightly narrower horizontal facial fit which seems ideal for women. They are sporty enough for biking and skiing, yet fashionable enough to wear at casual outdoor slightly dressier gatherings. Highly recommended.

I had some Smith glasses in the past that I really liked, the hybrid Sliders. I bought the Toasters a few weeks ago and sent them back, immediately. For 150.00, what a waste of dough. They were cheap and flimsy, did not feel like I was getting anything for my money. Ended up getting two pairs of other glasses for what I would have paid for these.

The interchangeable lenses make any type of light or environment just right. They fit a small-medium sized face perfectly and the root beer fade-bronze mirror is hot! They are definitely my favorite pair of sunnies.

The best things about these glasses are they stay put, they look nice, and they are well-made and flexible. I have no trouble changing the lenses, however, one of my lenses came with a small crack. Toaster is for small (or oblong) faces. The interchangeable lenses are a definite plus.

Just a shout out to the great people at Backcountry.com to say thanks a bunch. Stranded in Canada here we don't have the selection offered by your store. Thanks for getting me my shades (might have taken waaaayyy to long blaming the mail dudes!) Thanks again for providing me exactly what I wanted. Got to love getting exactly what you need. Any ladies out there trying to find an awesome pair of shades ‘cuz nothing fits due to the smallness of your face, try out a pair of toasters. They’re a bit pricy but you can't get any better; had my last pair for five years! Try ‘em out they rock!

I've had three pairs of these sunglasses, and can't live without them! They fit perfectly for a smaller face, don't slide around, and are great for a temporary headband (for the ladies with longer hair). I just wish the lenses didn't scratch so easily, but otherwise they are perfect!

I love the fit and I love the look of these glasses. They are my second pair of sliders, and fit great for a smaller face. The lenses are great, but the root beer fade frame color is creating a glare problem. The root beer color fades to clear at the bottom of the frame under the eyes. In bright sunlight, the clear frame refracts the sunlight up into the eyes resulting in a bright glare directly into the eyes. Anywhere you need to keep an eye out for changing conditions (busy ski area, driving a boat or a car), this could be a problem.

I gave these sunglasses to my wife as a present. I cannot count the number of times I have spent mucho bucks for overpriced plastic sunglasses only to have the lenses scratched in a week or two.
Now I have peace of mind: They came with three lenses. The frames were stylishly small for my wife, and had a very complimentary tortoise pattern. The pattern is wrap around but not bug eye style.
Lens removal requires the finger-hand strength/dexterity of a dental hygienist, but I will get over that. All in all, they’re great around town and sport sunglasses.

These sunglasses are comfortable, practical, and cool-looking. This is my second pair (I lost the first), and I'll buy them again if I lose these. I wore them in the Libyan Sahara and they provided great protection from sun and windblown sand. The "Rootbeer Fade" color goes with everything. Highly recommended.

These are great glasses. Their small frames fit me perfectly. The interchangeable lenses are easy to use and seem secure. I ordered the green lenses, too, which work great in medium lighting. I use these glasses for mt. biking and trail running and haven't found any better for any price.

I had a pair of the Toasters (tortoise color) and was in love with them. The best sunglasses ever. I usually lose them right away, but not these...I had them for two years, until my friends dog decided they would be a tasty, expensive treat.
I had to get another pair immediately, so I was excited to see the exact same pair here & ordered them. I was so excited when the shipment arrived, but when I opened the box the color was listed as *NEW* Tortoise. As I was opening the box, I was hoping that this would be a better tortoise...it was not.
Obviously, it was listed incorrectly, or I never would have ordered them.
So the glasses are great, but if you are looking for a "Classic" tortoise color, BEWARE. The tortoise is now more of a black with a few brownish hues.

They are great, although I am not wearing them, my wife is. She was deployed to Iraq back in February and this is her second pair the first pair met and untimely death as they fell off her head and crushed by a 5-ton. Thank you for having them because I am sure her eyes thank you.

I am 100% satisfied with my Smith Slider Toaster sunglasses. These glasses are ideal for skiing or any other winter activity. The three lenses (yellow, rose, gray) provide the best possibilities for various conditions. BackcountryStore.com had the best price around and the glasses were shipped quickly. They even threw in a DVD made by Smith.

Just ordered a replacement pair of Toasters because I lost mine about two days ago. Can't live without 'em! The hydrophilic nose grips made them perfect when I trained for a triathlon last summer. If I hadn't lost this last pair, I would've had them forever because they are incredibly durable as long as you don't sit on them or run over them with your bike. If you have a small face and want sunglasses with sports versatility, this is your choice.

I love these sunglasses. As others have said, they are both highly functional and appropriately stylish. As a woman with a smaller face, I find that this product fits my face well & allows enough of a gap that my eyelashes don't rub the inside of the lenses when I blink. The sunglasses are so light on my face that I often forget that I'm wearing them. I'm happy to have just discovered that Smith does offer a Polarized lens made for the "toaster" frame. The Polarized lens will set you back an additional $48.00, but not having to buy two pairs of sunglasses off-sets this extra expense.

This is a great sunglass for anyone with a small to medium face size. Great for sports use or for just driving around. There are many new colors now worth checking out. The three sets of lenses makes this sunglass very versatile. The Sienna brown (SB18) lens is great for bright sunny days and slightly overcast days, the Rose Copper (RC36) lens is a great all around lens, and the Yellow (Y68) lens is great for really flat and low light conditions like driving at dark.

I bought my Smith slider sunglasses during my time in Colorado when I was working at a ski resort. I recently ordered replacement lenses and a replacement case and smudge buster from backcountrystore.com. I had unfortunately, I lost my case with the lenses and smudge buster in it! I am thankful that backcountrystore.com had what I was looking for at a great price! I have had these glasses for a year now and I love them! I have even snowboarded in them and they held up great! I would recommend Smith sunglass series to anyone! They are my first nice pair of sunglasses and I wouldn't trade them for any other brand!

Feeling a bit mysterious? Hide your "Betty Davis" eyes behind dark gray lenses. Feeling a bit blue? Rose tint lenses are cheaper than Prozac. Riding during the evening when the temperature cools off? Yellow lenses truly extend your ride time. The Toaster's lightweight frames and schnazzy colors are a sure thing for comfort and performance when you’re on the trail or impressing that crowd of big muscley boulderers. The best all around interchangeable lens sunglass is the Toaster, by far for active, fashion conscience people with "smaller" faces.
