Shimano America SH-M122 Mountain Bike Shoe

One ride in the Shimano SH-M122 Mountain Bike Shoe and you'll be using your old recreational MTB shoes as doorstops. Those weak-spined hiking sneakers with the clipless-compatible inserts are no match for the SH-M122's stiff sole, asymmetrical triple-strap security and cycling-specific anatomical footbed. These shoes are designed for long singletrack trails, tough off-road tours, and slippery portages, so if you plan on toodling around town snapping pictures and eating ice cream, well…we have pity on you.

Bottom Line: A mountain bike isn't made for paved roads, and neither is the SH-M122.

a shoe that does it

Shoe is holding up fine. Velcro stays in place and it's pretty nice to get shoes on/off quickly. The soles/cleats are rubber and don't provide as much grip as I would have thought on rocks and etc. The waterproof sticker is kinda lame to apply above the cleat but since I don't plan on swimming in em, no worries. Be sure to use Shimano sizing chart, I don't think the BC chart is good representation for these shoes. Shimano sizing was true fit. For the money, I couldn't find a better shoe.

Help!!!! I wear a size 13 and I'm trying to find a MTB shoe that's comfortable to walk in too if I have to. Everything seems to run small. Male, btw. Thanks!!!

I am a US size 13 and have a pair of Shimano M120 in size 48 which I have been using for more than a year. I ride the dirt trails and walk the steep hills in them - and they have been great. I will be getting another pair soon, and I will probably stick with the Shimano since they worked well for me.

First of all this shoes has no laces! I hate those frickin things. Three velcro type straps made custom adjustments easy and made the fit comfortable. Seemed really light yet very sturdy to me. I'm 200 lbs and they have been on about ten rides so far, everything is holding up well no unusual wear. Seems like these will last me for quite some time. I am going to get an insert to replace the one it comes with. Do this for sure.

Good shoe

While I did find the shoe a bit stiff, it is worth the money. I didn't think the "waterproof" sticker was all that great, but if you love mountain biking... getting dirty dirty/wet is part of the fun. The sizing seems spot on for the US size 9.
