Shimano America SH-R131S Road Cycling Shoe

Can you keep a secret? Don't tell anyone, but the carbon-soled Shimano SH-R131S road cycling shoes are a freakin' bargain. For well under two bills, you get a super-stiff, ultralight, carbon-fiber weave sole from heel to toe, triple strap fastening with a micro-step buckle, and Shimano's anatomic precision last. Most companies want twice the dough for these high-end features, but with the Shimano SH-R131S you can coast up to the line with performance and change to spare.

Bottom Line: Pawning your bike to pay for shoes is self-defeating.

I just bought the shimano SPD women's about 60 days ago and every time I bkie more than 30 miles, my right foot starts to tingle, gets numb and the sole starts to ache. Wants going on? The left foot has no problems whats-so-ever! I had the cleats placed at the same time so I know the combo is correct as well as I purchased at a reputable bike store with my new Trek 1.5 road bike. Help! I need to go on a 400 mile bike ride in 2 weeks and do not have time or room to spare for bad fits. What can I do?

Like many people, you have slightly different sized feet or feet with a slightly different shape. Congratulations, you're normal, and you're simply wearing one shoe that doesn't agree with your foot.

Since it's carbon soled, you should be able to bake it at low temperatures to make the carbon malleable and make it fit to your foot better. Look in the product manual that came with the shoes for info on how to do this, or call footwear stores in your area and see if they have any experience doing the molding work on your feet.

I just purchased a pair of Shimano 131. Do they fit true to size? I have a pair of SIDI bullet mountain shoes that are size 43. will it be similar?

The sizes should be very similar. Sidi shoes tend to be more snug, but if all else fails remember that Backcountry makes returns/exchanges easy. Don't sweat it!
