Sierra Designs Sirius 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Head up the trail despite the autumn storm rolling over the mountains. The Sierra Designs Sirius 2 Tent gives you bomber protection during all but Mother Nature' worst. Sierra Design's Swift Clips and pre-threaded Quick Pitch Swivel Hub system make setup a snap, so you get out of that storm faster. The dual doors let you take midnight bathroom breaks without stepping on your tent-mate's face on the way out. The Sirius' dual vestibules add four square feet of protected space on each side of the tent, so you and your friend can store your muddy gear out of the way. The Sirius Tent anti-microbial Tent Guard with Ultra Fresh treatment fights funky-odor buildup.

Bottom Line: When it comes to lightweight three-season backpacking, the Sierra Designs Sirius 2-Person Tent doesn't joke around.

Great buy!

A year ago, I was new to camping (which I'm embarrassed to admit as a geologist). I bought this tent, and I'm happy to say it's survived a year throughout California. Lightweight, and easy to pitch with two poles. The tent kept me cool without the fly, and protected from wind with the fly. There are only two gripes I have about it: 1. You have to make sure of the wind direction when you pitch, or else it can turn the tent into a mini wind tunnel; and 2. The zipper occasionally gets snagged on the little flap. Other than that, awesome tent!

Lightweight, easy to set up, durable, and affordable. I've had mine for three years, and use it regularly. I have not seen any wear and tear damage at all. Great tent!!

This is a great 3 season tent!

This tent is a really roomy tent for a 2 man get up. It has a half dome of nylon and half dome of mesh, for those starry nights. The rain fly keeps you dry and wind proof and acts as a 4 ft vestibule on each door on this tent. At 4 lbs, this is ideal for backpacking when you need a little more room for 2. Easy pitch and breakdown, this is a great design!

hey, for the money...

...this isn't a bad tent at all. First the negatives: It's design--using only a 2/3 rain fly--inhibits it from being a "fastpack" tent where you take only the rain fly, poles and footprint to save weight. However, there are other lighter and cheaper ways to take along an emergency shelter. Setting it up in the rain without it getting wet inside is tricky (but possible!). However, this limitation exists with all mesh-bodied tents that depend on the rain-fly for all their protection. It's too big and heavy as a solo tent, so you might look elsewhere for those types of trips... If you don't set it up the right direction and/or behind a wind-break, or the wind changes directions during the night, it can get real drafty real quick. This is really only a problem when you are pushing your gear's cold-weather comfort to its limits and need all the extra warmth you can get (not recommended!). ---------- The goods: It's very light weight for two people (and a load-bearing dog!). It's extremely easy to set up--almost idiot-proof...almost. It's incredibly stable when fully staked and guyed (buy the extra stakes if you think you'll be encountering high winds) It's very breathable and doesn't become a super-humid sauna at night. It's roomy enough to store some gear inside w/two people (and a medium dog)
