Salomon XT Wings WP Shoe - Men's

As the newest incarnation from Salomon's well-loved trail running line, the waterproof and ridiculously comfortable Men's XT Wings WP Shoe tackles the trails wet or dry, and keeps the comfort going even after you leave the trail. With the help of a foot-hugging asymmetrical Quicklace system, and pronation control in the midsole, the XT Wings WP Shoe provides unparalleled fit and comfort both on the trail and off. Salomon's versatile, Running Contragrip sole tames any trail; from rocky descents to muddy climbs to slushy streets in town. The antimicrobial Ortholite footbed puts an end to foot funk, while the Agile Chassis Skeleton supports your arches and provides a stable platform for rocky and rough terrain, reducing foot fatigue and chances of a rolled ankle.

Bottom Line: The WP stands for waterproof, and Salomon stands for amazing trail running durability and performance.

Amazing Fit / Function

I've done nearly 100 miles in my XT's now and think they're amazing! The fit was perfect... they might even rival my Ferragamo's. I haven't done a ton of running in the wet so I can't say they're ultra waterproof, but they've been great for traction on technical trail and off trail as well as in the snow. They are plenty breathable! I'd recommend these to anyone that wants a great fit, the best lacing system and all the nuts and bolts of a really amazing set of tools on your feet!

!!!! Awesome runners !!!!

I have only had my XT Wings WP's ( waterproof version ) for about 2 weeks now , its a bit early for a review - But i bought a pair of Salomon XA Comp 3 GTX Trail runners at the same time thru this site & sent here to Nelson , New Zealand. They both have Gore-Tex in them.I was skeptical with the XT's at the start as they felt a bit tight for some reason, when the GTX's were straight out of the box they provided a good fit , both are the same size , so i ran the GTX's for first 2 days & they feel good , quite light ( lighter than the Xt's )not bad traction , ran around between 8-12klm technical trail both times , so then I thought "bugger it" & I'm putting on the XT's for awhile now. I have found that the xt's require a little break in time , a few days + for running ( a little bit tight ), but after that point , they feel amazing . I can't stop wearing them now as they are so comfortable that it's not funny ( seriously) they give amazing shock-absorption over hard rocks ,pavement/road with a bit left for tiny bit of bounce etc so i can move faster compared to the GTX's ( had a rolled ankle for a few days & it was tolerable to run in the xt's but not the Gtx's ). A lot more stable & lot less ankle roll than the GTX's and other runners , tho my feet feel a bit higher from the ground & caught things on the way through sometimes ( had to read adjust how i ran a bit ) on uneven ground - trails , etc ). They feel pretty much like a comfy slipper. Love the Salomon lace up system , hardly ever touch them , just slip them on & don't even touch the laces & they never bang against your legs as the laces are tucked away in the little pouch thing . It was pouring down rain last night for the 1st time since i got them & I was so eager to run thru mountain trails here in the torrential rain just to see if they were waterproof , but i was really sore from working out at the gym & a previous hard trail run the day before - was too sore & i was spewing. So eager to try them in muddy wet conditions as they say waterproof in a few different areas on the runners . Tho i don't think the WP's( Gore-Tex ) would be suitable for summer as i feel they don't give enough ventilation as my feet were getting quite warm each time tho they are still new , the normal XT's would be great for this i think as they have mesh on them. The Red XT wings WP's are really flashy looking , they look awesome like a professional adventure racer on an advertisement & are great for night running as they are reflective . So car's , trucks , etc can see you ( i run mostly at night after work , so it's wicked for that), I actually hate flashy looking runners , as like to get down & just do it without the hype . They're Amazing & thanks!

i'd say the opposite to that response , i jus got mine a few days ago delivered to New Zealand . altho its not winter here yet , i find my feet are quite warm in them , they are very comfy & good shock absorbtion - means i can go faster on hard surfaces, altho a liitle heavier than the "Salomon XA Comp 3 GTX Trail" that i bought at the same time . They don't breathe as much as i thought they would & will find out soon to see if they are waterpoof & have a shower with them ( just need some gaiters to stop water coming in the top )
