Salomon Relay Pro Snowboard Binding

When Salomon's pro riders need the best performance they can get their hands on, they strap into the Relay Pro Snowboard Bindings. Utilizing Salomon's Tensor System, the Relay Pro Snowboard Bindings deliver amazing edge control without compromising lateral flexibility. The key is a steel rod, which connects the front of the baseplate directly to the heel cup. The Relay Pro Binding's soft heel cup creates a unique riding feel and lets you tweak out tricks like some kind of crazed, flying contortionist. For harsh landings, Salomon gave the Relay Pro a triple-layer, shock-absorbent sole. What more could you want?

Bottom Line: Dominate the local scene with the Salomon Relay Pro Snowboard Bindings.

sick!

I love these bindings. At first, you don't know what to expect because they look "funny" as some say. With the cable exposed and a softer highback -but they are amazing in any condition. Pow, hardpack and landings. I love them and highly recommend them to anybody who is a versatile rider and not afraid to try something new. Also if some highbacks hurt your calves, are too stiff, etc. Another feature I love is the toe strap. Its always connected. easy in and out of. No more looking to match up the pieces in high wind snowy conditions. Love the flex. Love the look and feel. Glad I have these

Absolutely Amazing

Ok so i have always rode with a hard heal cup like most of us have done. When i got these on the mountain it was a world of a differne. These bindings give you better control for turns and better flexibility for the park. Also you dont feel the little bumps in the mountain with these because the bindings just adjust to the mountain. Worth the price and than some. Put up the money for these, because you will be happy. GREAT GREAT GREAT bindings!

Awesome, underrated, innovative

I own a pair of 08 CO2s-- and I'm ready to sell them because I don't need a pair of $330 back-up bindings. General gist of it: these bindings do not have a traditional rigid heelcup made of plastic or aluminum. Instead, they have a soft mesh heelcup with cables attached to rigid alloy rods in the baseplate. This does three things for you: 1.) Because the heelcup is not rigid, you get more natural give laterally, giving a super comfy, forgiving, surfy feel. 2.) The super stiff alloy rods underfoot still allow you maintain a good level of response. 3.) The way the bindings are constructed allows Salomon to put an INSANE amount of padding underfoot (probably second only to Burton's EST binders). At first these bindings will feel super weird since they are so different from anything else you've ridden in the past. They provide much less feedback than traditional bindings, which takes a bit of getting used to. However, after a few days on mine, I am absolutely sold. Comfy, responsive, and innovative up the wazoo. If you do buy a pair, be sure to invest in a pair of 08s and avoid the inangural 07s. There were some significant upgrades made, namely leaps and bounds of improvements in the FastFit toe strap, and much stronger, smoother releasing ratchets. They're on Union/Burton level smoothness on release, but a definitely big improvement. They're now a strength rather than a pretty glaring weakness (ratchets on the 07s were TERRIBLE). Also, even though these things were designed for Fusion Series boots, they fit immaculately with my Burton Ions. Soft heelcup really allows for a bit more give in terms of fit, though I would watch out if you have particularly bulky boots in the back (e.g. 32s, DCs, etc.). The only real complaint I have about them isn't even related to performance-- I think Salomon's done a terrible job of marketing these things. Probably the most innovative binding out on the market and a lot of people haven't even heard of them. Quite the shame. But all the better for those of us who bought in.

Terrible Binding

By: JamesR.(88)

I'm sorry, I hate to say bad things about products, I usually try to find something good to say about products that I try. But these are really the worst bindings I have ever used. It is very hard to feel your heelside turns with these bindings, the heel cup flexes back and when you are riding variable terrain you tend to wash out on your heel side turns as you lean back to far because you can not feel the turn. The second complaint that I have is the toe straps on these bindings. They are set up to be able to adjust over the toes of your boots like Burton and Rides straps. But they do not stay in place at all and actually feel down and got caught on the snow. I would personally suggest sticking with a company like Burton or Ride that has their binding technology locked down.

Great bindings for a great price.

I was a bit hesitant to drop this much on a pair of bindings, but after my first boarding trip of the year I couldn't be happier that I did. The responsiveness and comfort of the Relay Pro's are the best I've ever experienced. The only complaint I had with the bindings was with the release system. Salomon should take a lesson from Ride and mimic their SPi release.
