Salomon Explore Stretch Jacket - Men's

When a storm brews while you're out on the trail, zip up the Salomon Men's Explore Stretch Jacket and make it to your campsite dry and warm. Salomon's waterproof breathable ClimaPRO material keeps you dry from the rain and won't hold in your heat. When the storm really picks up, roll up the Explore Stretch Jacket's adjustable hood to protect your noggin. This backpacking rain jacket stretches, so you won't feel hindered when you bend down to tie your laces. Salomon fully sealed this rain jacket's seams to ensure you stay dry in nasty weather.

Bottom Line: Zip up the Salomon Explore Stretch Jacket when an afternoon rain storm threatens your hike.

Awesome jacket! Comfortable, stylish, and completely waterproof as advertised. Yes, it has an athletic fit...it doesn't leave room for tons of layers underneath. It isn't a ski jacket, it's a rain jacket. It leaves room for a couple good layers without making you look like you're wearing a tent when you wear it around town. No pitzips, but it makes the jacket lighter and it breathes well enough for everything but the hardest cardio activities. Great buy and a great product!

Seems like solid construction, but be wary of cut.

Let me preface this review by saying that I will not be discussing the actual performance of this coat. Nevertheless, construction and especially the seams and zippers seem to be very well made and I would have expected this coat to have been extremely good at keeping me dry. I purchased this and found the cut completely wrong for what I wanted. It is an EXTREMELY tight fitting and athletic coat, forget about being able to layer much of anything under it. I ordered size large (I usually wear large, but do fit in medium sometimes), and just found the fit to be problematic. I do think the coat would have performed well as a pure lightweight rain shell when hiking in warm conditions. But it is not versatile at all (as I like my stuff to be). Forget about wearing it over a mid layer when conditions get colder and I also would worry about breathability (tags only rated it at 4000 mm) and it does not have any sort of vents or a reversible zipper. The athletic fit also makes it completely wrong to wear for anything resembling everyday use (which I had hoped to call on it for walking my dog in the rain and what not in addition to hiking and biking). Again, not necessarily a bad coat, just make sure you know what you are getting!
