Salomon XA Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's
Say goodbye to soggy feet and hello to three-season performance with the Salomon XA Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe. This performance trail runner features a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex insert, so wet weather is no longer an excuse to stay at home. A plastic shank under the insole helps prevent twisting and over-pronation, and keeps your feet from feeling sharp rocks on the trail. Built for moving quickly in less than ideal conditions, the 3D XCR uses tougher, more durable materials that can take the beating from muddy runs and springtime slush. A single pull on the Quicklace system cinches this Salomon trail runner around your foot for a snug fit.
Bottom Line: Slip on the Salomon XA Pro 3D XCR Trail Running Shoe and don't let the rain slow you down.

Very happy with the quality and looks of the shoe, but the fit for my size is a just a tad snug. Only room for a very thin sock. I hope the fit will relax a bit with break-in. I like the lacing system.

This shoe has worked very well for me for running, biking, hiking, and casual. I was rather surprised how fast the tread and rubber seams wore down. You will either love or hate the quick lace system. In principal the system is superior to traditional laces but I have a hard time keeping the lace "keeper" in the special little pocket. This also applies on my tech amphibs. I believe a newer version of this shoe comes with an integrated gator...that will be well worth the extra dough.

Almost bought this shoe from BC, but was weary given the other reviews here that mentioned the narrow cut. My local shop happened to have them (and they were on sale), so I was able to try them on. THEY RUN NARROW. That being said, they still fit well, just have to up-size. I wear a 10.5 (wide) in almost every shoe, and just went to the 11s in this shoe. They fit very well, eat up the terrain and work like a submarine when running through streams. VERY happy with these! (side note: got the Garmin Forerunner 305 too. WOW, amazing gadget for getting all the info on your runs).

Bought these shoes before a stint of traveling. From running rocky trails in Africa to fighting the driving snow (and slush) in Japan, these shoes never let me down. I have put hundreds of miles on these and they fit better with each step. Very highly recommended.

These are hands down the best trail shoes I've ever had. Tested in the Wasatch, Southern Utah, and...I'm not ashamed to admit...everyday wear in Park City during the winter. Comfortable right out of the box and waterproof in the snow and rain. I'll be replacing my current pair with the exact same shoes again.

If you want shoes that will respond to every move you make, all the while chewing up and spitting out anything you can throw at them... You are have just found the right pair of shoes. I do a lot of free running and trail running, these shoes never miss a beat. Whether you are on dry trails or ripping it up in a mud whole the Salomon XA Pro's are worth every penny.

I don't know what the definition of a perfect shoe is, but I can imagine that a picture of these shoes would be the definition. I wore out my old GCS XCR's last month after 2 years and bought these just 2 weeks prior to my big day-hike of Mt. Whitney this July 1st. I wore them twice for "break-in" purposes prior to the hike. I made the 21 mile round trip without a single blister or hot spot. Then I took them north to the Tahoe Rim Trail for a 4-day with a 40lb. backpack with the same great results. The Gore Tex in this shoe does put it on the warm side however I like it because I never need to tip-toe or worry about stream/puddle crossings and getting my feet wet. Great sock combo with this shoe it the Clima-Cool low rise. Also, I wear a 12.5 for everyday shoes and I went up to a 13 for my past and current pair of Solomons and they fit great. The price is reasonable when you hike in this shoe that actually works/fits and that they will last for 2 years of moderate to heavy use.

I have had them for a couple of weeks now, but no rough races or treks yet. They fit very well, specially after two or three uses. Recommended.

My husband was a little bit skeptical when we purchased these shoes. He wasn't so sure about the Quicklace system, but after three months, he wears them all of the time. Yard work, hiking, zipping around town, they are his home away from home. They were well worth the money and have held up famously.

These things rock, can't say enough about them. Comfortable, durable, light, they can take whatever terrain you throw at them. The quiklace system is fast and easy, and the arch support is fantastic.

Just got them for my trip to Poland and running in the Tatras Mountains. They're fantastic and provide great support. Ran a few trails around Zakopane in rain and love them. They're my only shoes on this trip (traveling light) and they're pretty good for walking around, but they definitely excel on running trails. Highly recommended.

I just really like this shoe, a great arch support, stable on uneven terrain, durable with the triple density EVA mid-sole, and it's lightweight- a great shoe! I've packed a lot of miles in these and they are still my weapon of choice when I want to move fast.

These git great and seriously protect your shoe from the rocks in the trail. Got these for my husband and he says they blow away all of his other trail shoes.

These shoes are great! Out of the box they felt a little snug in the forefoot compared to my previous shoe, but after a few short break-in runs they really formed to my feet. I run in the mountains of Southern California, through rocky terrain and find the lateral stability very suitable. In the Spring the creeks are flowing and the Gore-Tex liner does its job without fail. The initial downside to the Gore-Tex liner is that it makes for a really warm shoe, but you get used to it and it's worth the trade off. I highly recommend this shoe to any serious trail runner that runs in rocky uneven terrain.

These shoes are great, as a letter carrier they supply great support and water resistance. The only fault may be that they are a very warm shoe, other then that, I would definitely buy them again

I've had these a few months and I am straight-up impressed. Very comfortable shoe while doing anything from just walking to trail running. I've used it in snow, slush, mud, dirt, cement, rocks, pretty much everything. They truly are waterproof and have held up to everything while still looking new. My perfect companion for hiking here in Utah as I go from a dry path to a snowy path on the same day it's 80 degrees. I recommend this for sure.

These shoes are amazing. After a years use of them, they are still holding up great with no problems. I have sat in creek beds to eat my lunch with my feet never getting wet. The only 'problem' with these shoes is that if you don't have high arches, they take a pretty long time to break in. I'd say it took me about twenty miles to really get the arches to the level I felt were really comfortable and contoured well with my foot...so just wear them around town for a while until they fit how you want before taking them out on the trail.

Is 12.5 size of Salomon xa pro 3d xcr available.I usually wear 12,but people recommend 0.5 size up to buy.Anybody know?

I think after 12 they only go up in whole sizes. I suggest you try out the 12s. I wear a street size of 12, but sometimes go down to 11.5 for athletic shoes, but the 12s of these shoes fit me just fine.

Fit great, fast to don and doff. A little hard to break in, but well worth the weight. Good Gore-Tex liner. Speed laces are by far the best quality. I love the black color.

I add this reply not to dis the shoe per se. I want people to be aware that something may be going sideways at the factory.I have now sent back 2 brand new pairs through a local store. The problem is with the assembly of the sole at the base just under the footbed. In one pair(ultra)there was a narrow hollow underneath the ball of the foot you could feel when pressuring the shoe while at the store. In another pair (XCR's) there was clear inch and a half narrow ridge in the material of the sole. You could feel it as it caused my toes to bunch.I advise anyone who tries on these shoes to very carefully feel for irregularities in this shoe after you try them on.thanks

These shoes are so comfortable that they feel like socks!
They are light even if they are not exactly the perfect shoes to run on a road. But thanks to the waterproof Gore-tex and the very high grip sole they are perfect for trail running in any weather condition!
I run in snow, rain, I also try to jump into puddles and my feet were always dry!
I would recommend this shoes to nay person who is really into the running in the mountains or even just to have a very comfortable pair of shoes to hike

2nd pair in this series I've owned. Pretty waterproof, lacing system works well. On muddy trails, this and low gaiters work for me. FYI, size tends to run on the small size so would recommend ordering 1/2 size up.

I have bought this same style shoe for about four years in a row now. It is, without a doubt, the number one, all round, wear everywhere shoe. Its very stylish, can take a beating, super gripy, and make whatever your doing feel like cloud nine, at least for your feet. The only thing that I can find fault with them, is the lacing, just good ole wear and tear as the shoe grows old. But besides that, these shoes are amazing....did I mention completely waterproof?

The shoes run small in the XCR Gore-tex version. I have the XA Pro 3D non Gore-Tex and the Gore-Tex version is tight and short in the same size. A half size larger might be a good idea.

As the salesperson told me, these are not trail runners, they are hikers. Maybe some runners can handle not having shock absorbtion, but my hips ached after a couple miles in these. I do have high/non-flexible arches so I need SOME cushioning, but these offer VERY-LITTLE. IMHO.

I was hesitant to buy these shoes because I was not crazy about their looks but am very happy I did. They can take loads of abuse and will keep your feet dry and cool. The quicklace system is quick and easy while giving a nice snug fit when needed. My one minor complaint is that they could use a little better traction when wet, in actual trail running, natural surfaces provide enough but on manmade or icy surfaces, traction when wet is a bit lacking.

I've had these shoes for over 4 weeks now and love them. After trail running on just regular road trainers, the XCR's are a great improvement. They're still light, yet have have sweet grip and don't even have to think about slipping on the trail. Just for giggles I even ran through a few ice cold streams to see if they were waterproof and came out dry. I'm also digging the pull lace up mechanism. I've also like a little wider toe box and was happy that I didn't feel like my toes we're being crammed.

As a trail hiker rather than runner, the shoes are comfortable and the lacing system is quick and convenient. Traction is very good. Liked the shoes enough to buy a second pair. Size one-half to one full size larger than street size (depending on sock thickness) worked best for me.

I have been searching for a GXT trail shoe for the coming winter. I really liked this shoe--it just did not fit my foot. The arch was too high and hit me funny. Everything else was great. Felt very stable and protective. My wife wears Salomons but has a very high arch. My arches are average.

These shoes are exactly what I was looking for; a waterproof trail running shoe with good support and cushion. The first few runs were like any other shoe but the sole molded to my feet and the comfort level was better than any other shoe I owned. I did run into some low land, where water was almost above my shoe line, and the water never penetrated. They are easy clean up, just a spray with the hose and all is good. If I have to be a critic, then I would say the only thing I don't like is the look of the front. It does point upward alittle bit.

This is my second pair of these shoes and I continue to be impressed. They are incredibly durable, great to run in, and can handle pretty rough terrain. The waterproofing is excellent and when they get wet on the inside they usually dry out in a day or two. I use them for adventure racing and training and couldn't be happier with them.

These are excellent shoes IF you have the right feet. If you're broad footed, forget it. I bought them for a 100km walk event in Japan (can't get my size over here) and by 62kms, my feet were so blistered I had to retire... I really needed a wider toe box, so now they sit as colourful ornaments next to my MTB.
In every other way, they are a great shoe... waterproofing was fine and the lacing system is brilliant. They support the foot well, and the cushioning is very comfortable. But for those of us with a more lateral hold on mother earth, I strongly advise you try before buying.

If you want to buy a single shoe for all those unanticipated hiking and running opportunities, these are the only option.
Put these on when you board your flight, or climb in the car. Wherever you arrive, and whatever you find there, this shoe will handle it with style and support.
I recently ended up in the Southwest on a business trip, and thankfully wore these as my travel shoes. At the end of my four days in the region I had climbed a total of 12,000 vertical feet (some technical), forded countless washes and streams, ran 15 miles and attended three interminable boring meetings. I didn't bother wearing the shoes to the meetings.
Without these shoes I would have been staring at those mountains from a conference room instead of scree scrambling like a madman.
Do yourself a favor and buy these puppies!

A few hours after I got this shoe, there was a strong thunderstorm coming in, and said to myself, what better way to test how waterproof the shoe is, and how it would fare in muddy trails in the park nearby. My eventual use for this shoe is to use them in Orienteering, an outdoor activity which involves a lot of trail running and bushwacking in the woods. At first feel, I thought the back heel sole was too big and awkward, but actually after running on pavement for a mile, it turns out it was great and felt almost identical to a road running shoe. On trail and in the slippery and muddy slopes in the woods, the front sole had great traction, and "feel" for the ground. The hard tip provided great protection against logs and rocks. My disappointment was that after hitting several poodles, three minutes later I could feel water sloshing inside. Not sure if it got in from the stiches on the sole lining, or whether it came from the ankle as water dripped from the rain in (maybe tight gaiters would be of help). [later note: later tested them in a bathtub with shower, and now I am convinced the water came in through the ankle opening]. The high heel that was great for running on flats, but also gave a bit of unbalance on tight turns on trail running, almost triggering a twisting of ankle, so adjusted my run and agressiveness to beware of that slight unbalance. The shoe is very light, and it felt great, with a nice fit all-around the foot. Every foot is different, and every shoe has a "style" or "feel" that may differ to foot to foot. It so happens that this shoe felt good on my foot, but I've heard others that were wearing them that it felt "tight". For rugged terrain, the gore-tex surface might not survive more than a couple of long races with abrasive contact. But if you are running instead of stomping, this is a great shoe. Somewhat on the expensive side, but if you tried them in a store, know your size, and happen to see them on sale, it is a definite buy.

Good arch support; great lacing system (nice and snug); good insulation for cool days; felt a little snug in the toe, might want to order a half size up; great looks too.
