Salomon Pro Amphibian Shoe - Women's - 2004
The Salomon Pro Amphib shoe is a slightly beefier version of Salomon's famed Tech Amphibian shoe. The Pro Amphibs blur the line between sandal and shoe. They protect your feet like shoes but drain water like a sandal via 5 drainage ports. And the 2-way stretch mesh upper and Kevlar laces won't absorb water so you don't carry around extra weight until your shoes dry. The Pro Amphib was built off the Tech Amphibian's last but has a heavier duty back, a women's specific design, and TPU buckles that increase durability and support. Salomon also added a measure of cushioning to the top for enhanced comfort. An adjustable, collapsible back folds down conveniently for slip-on mode. Try them with neoprene socks for cold water protection.
Bottom Line: Adventure racers, river rats, and anywhere tromping around in or near the water will love the Pro Amphib.

Very good but not the best.

Air ventilation not as good as the Salomon Karma water shoe or the Tech Amphibian, but still a very comfortable platform to hike in.

I purchased these shoes for a trip to Costa Rica where I hoped to use them for light hiking, walks to and on the beach, and in lieu of water shoes. The trip was great; that was too much to ask of Amphibians. Until they softened up I needed socks, which made the walk in the water idea a bad one. Water shoes are simply better for the job. For hiking, there was no good way to tighten the back to provide a sure enough fit. But they are cool (as in light and hip) for just walking around.

I am on my third pair of women's amphibian's and occasionally wonder at all the heads I turn. In Manhattan, in Montana, in Palo Alto, and all airports in-between, women stare at my pink Salomon's. Fed-ex drivers and executives don't hesitate to walk up and ask what brand they arethis includes my 85-year-old Mother. I always say that specially made comfort shoes for my 60-year-old feet would be maybe be as comfortable as the Salomon's but, the comfort, not the looks are why I keep buying them.

Im size 7 in a regular sneaker, but I had to exchange the Salomons three times before I got it right with a size 6. Otherwise, they fit great and are very well vented!
Couldn't wear them.

The seams on the insides scraped my feet raw. I wore them once for an hour or so and then stopped because they were so painful.
Salomon did a nice job with this shoe...

I bought these shoes for my wife before our cruise down to the Caribbean. She wanted a good water shoe but also one that had some traction for hiking around. Salomon has done a nice job with this shoe. They tend to run a bit narrow, but she has narrow feet so this is not a problem. They drain water well and do dry out fairly quickly, put them in an open space so they can get some air. She loves the fact that they can be worn as slides, the back of the shoe folds down nicely to accommodate this. She said this feature made the shoe!

These are great shoes. They run about a size large so I had to do an exchange, but now that I have the right fit they are great perfect for a beachcomber like me!

Nice shoe. The plastic rubs on the outside of my foot...not really enough to make a blister, but enough to make it uncomfortable. The strap to tighten the back of the shoe never stays for more than 30 seconds. I do like them to walk around in the water and for shorter hikes.

I spent a few days in the BWCAW and lived in these shoes. These shoes were excellent in and out of the water. We paddled and portaged over twelve hours every day with a couple very long portages. These shoes held up in the water and also light backpacking. I always get a very bad blister on the back of my right heel, and these water shoes have a wonderful feature on the back. The back of the shoes can flip down, and they can be worn like mules. They tighten and loosen up by a pull string that works well. I highly recommend these water shoes!

Good quality, good fit and good protection in the water. Acceptable price. I am very happy with the purchase.

I've had some form of these shoes for years. About four years ago I got Salomon's Amphibians and loved them. I took those shoes on many canoe trips around Algonquin Park. Just recently I had to replace them, and after looking at many other brands I decided to stick with Salomons. This past summer I took them on a three week canoe trip down the Missinaibi River, which included lots of rapids and portaging. The shoes worked well in both situations. My only qualms were that I got blisters, but an easy solution was to wear socks, and that sand stayed in the shoes. This is a great shoe for a mix of water and land activity. They are very durable, and versatile. The pros defiantly outweigh the cons.
