Salomon Techamphibian Sandal - Women's
The Salomon Women's Techamphibian Shoes blur the line between sandals and shoes. They protect your feet like shoes but drain water like a sandal. The synthetic mesh upper and Quickfit lacing won't absorb water so you don't have to carry around extra weight until your shoes dry. The adjustable, convertible heel folds out of the way when you need a slip on for a quick jaunt out of your tent in the middle of the night. Built for professional river guides, canyoneers and adventure racers who make frequent transitions between wet and dry environments, the sticky Contagrip sole gives you traction over variable terrain.
Bottom Line: Shandals? Sandoes? Whatever you call them, the Salomon Techamphibian Shoe feels at home in the water or on dry land.

Purchased to wear in the gym. Though labeled trail runner/water shoe, I thought they might be comfy and cool as a workout shoe. Normaly I wear the basic leather crosstrainer type shoe but, my feet get hot. Theses shoes have turned out just as I'd hoped. They're very comfy, greaT support, with the webbed net fabric it keeps my feet very cool. I LOVE THEM!!!!! Only issue is Salomons run a tad wide, a good thick breathable sock picks up the slack.

I bought these a while back on sale - it may have been a slightly different style. They are well made but to me they seem clunky and let in pebbles and sand. They may be good for hiking but not for paddling. They take up too much room if you are in a sea or white water kayak and if you kneel while canoeing, they are uncomfortable.

These shoes were amazing!! I did the zip line tour while on a cruise, best thing i purchased for the trip. Very comfortable and did their job on the wet rocky climbs.
Shoe size is one smaller and no need to strap to tight, after the track I was able to convert them to a slide to give my toes a rest!

I ordered these shoes at the last minute for a trip to Hawaii and they were great. They were so comfortable I didn't even need to break them in. Wore them walking, hiking on the volcano and on the beach. They were great everywhere. Would definitely buy these again!

I have the men's version and I kinda liked them but during every day use on holidays at the beach, walk around city etc. the heel strap is not helpful. The strap actually gets loose quite fast so I wouldn't recommend usage as a closed sandal.
I used mine then with a fold over heel flap - just what they're designed for. After 3 months usage (4 weeks everyday) the mesh at the heel flip was already torn. It's still fine as a sandal but I can't even imagine go hiking in this shoes like one of the previous reviewers.

I bought them for a caving trip that involved being fully immersed in water and then some scrambling and hiking around slick rocks. The dry time and the grip were great. despite being sopping wet - - they never got heavy and they really held their ground. My husband got the mens version and had similar raves. Great purchase!

These will be my main summer shoe for this year. Cottages & lots of time in the water in Canada. They seem to have one tight spot around the pinky toe at this point. That's my only real 'complaint'. These are a nice alternative to my Keen sandals as they are more running shoe than sandal & therefore offer a bit more protection from the elements. So far no complaints!

The Salomon shoes are my second pair...my first were a gift and I loved them so much that I bought my self another pair. What makes them "cool" is the open mesh construction. Why is that good? Your feet don't swelter all day in them. I never wore sneakers until I got these shoes because my feet get too hot. These shoes are not just for summer because buildings are over heated in the winter and your feet get hot then, too.
They are too cool to wear under 35-40 degrees. I wore warmer shoes and I left my Salomons at work to chnage into when I got there.
The last great thing about these shoes is that they fit my orthodic inserts. I bought the shoes a half a size too big and the orthodics fit perfectly in them.
I love my shoes.

I bought mine 2002 and did lots of hiking. Later came back to Asia and used them to run because so light weight and the sole durable. I run in them almost everyday for an hour and they are still in perfect condition, and I mean the sole, the lace all that. Wow.

We just came back from 13 days in Belize and wore these shoes while hiking thru the jungle, crossing rivers, climbing thru caves, walking around town in different wet and dry conditions, and these shoes held up in all those conditions, dried quickly, felt light, and provided a lot of ventilation. Would definitely recommend them.

I bought these shoes for a river trip back in August and they have ended up being my favorite pair of shoes. I wear them all of the time! They worked great at the river, so they served their initial purpose, but I love them so much, I have purchased a second pair to have on hand when the first pair wears out. I highly recommend these shoes for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and wants a versitile, comfortable shoe with excellent traction.

Overall I am very pleased with the Salomon Tech Sandals. I usually wear a women's size 9 or 9.5, but since others recommended to downsize I did too. I ordered a 8.5 and fits perfect even with socks! So do size down... So far I have just been breaking the sandals in and haven't had any problems - happy with the purchase :)

My wife loves these shoes. She only has one complaint about them, the samll pebbles. The mesh does great for letting the water out and her feet breath, but smaller rocks, etc always seem to find their way into the shoe. Otherwise, very comfy shoes.

I received my techamphibian sandals last month, as a birthday present to myself. I have to say that I have worn them almost every day! I am walking in them, working in them and shopping in them, not to mention hitting the beach and playing disc golf. They go from a semi-rugged, cool walking shoe to a casual slip on for the market. I couldn't be happier with my choice or their performance so far, and I have gotten rave comments from friends on their appearance and funkiness. I hope they never give out on me, ever! Thanks for your quality selection and speedy delivery! Off to the lake for a walk!

I ordered these shoes for a trip to Costa Rica that I knew would include a combination of hiking, rafting, and whatever else came up. They were perfect. Very comfortable - thank goodness, since I got them about a week before the trip and couldn't really break them in first. They don't dry as quickly as some of the sandal type shoes out there, but still were not uncomfortable when wet. Plus they provided more support during my hikes than sandal shoes do. Definitely the best purchase I made for the trip!

Never took them off while traveling through Costa Rica! Great for hiking, walking in general and wet sports. Funny though, I never got them wet like I thought I would.
They’re lightweight and pack well, unlike the typical big sneaker. I used and enjoyed the fold down sandal option quite a bit.
And yes, do buy a 1/2 size smaller. I am 6 1/2 and bought a size 6 and fits great even with a sock. The adjustable heal compensates for this nicely.

My husband found these recommended for use in Hawaii going from water to land without changing shoes. Personally, I have never liked wearing shoes and wear sandals as long as I can into the fall (we live in Pennsylvania). These are a perfect compromise between shoes and sandals. I can wear them into the winter because they provide protection and warmth for my feet but I don't feel as if I have shoes on.

Pebbles and mud can get into this shoe too easily. It was also a pain to get them out of the shoe while you are hiking. I would only recommend this shoe if you do not want to travel with both Tevas (sandals) and a pair of sturdy hiking shoes. This shoe cannot replace Tevas nor hiking shoes on its own.

Since purchasing these shoes, I no longer experience joint pain in my feet during or after water aerobics. I would highly recommend them to anyone who exercises regularly in the water. They not only protect your feet from debris lurking on the pool bottom, they provide support and cushion to each step.

I do water aerobics in an indoor pool four days a week and I was in need of a new pair of shoes for class. I have been buying a shoe designed for water aerobics made by Ryka, but one day they finally gave out! (Chlorine is brutal on your shoes.) I was desperate for a new pair, found some in a store in town, (on my lunch break from work) paid $75 for them, more than the Rykas by about $20 but thought they would be worth it. They felt so good when I tried them on. But when I got home that night I decided to shop for them online, (I can usually find things cheaper there.) I did! I found your site! And best of all, you saved me $30! The shoes have been awesome for classes. In 2 of these classes we do a lot of running in the water and these are perfect! When I need a new pair I will be back. Not to mention, although I will, I have passed the name of your site on to at least four people in class. Thanks for being here!

I was planning on going on a camping trip and thought these shoes might be nice (the fact they were on sale made them more appealing). I've only worn these water shoes once since I've bought them. I used them kayaking and had fun dunking them in the water. They're pretty nice and people told me that they were cool looking. They drain pretty well. The only thing is they're not super comfortable (not bad though) and one of the shoes made a very faint squishing sound for a while when I was walking. Not sure if that's a normal thing. But overall, they're nice shoes and they do the job.

I wore these walking and hiking in the rain forest; crossed rivers, climbed rocky and muddy ledges and they were awesome. I want another pair in another color and bit smaller. Someone said they run a size too big and it's true. I normally wear and 8 and I bought an 8. Next time I will buy a half or full size smaller.

For those debating whether to get shoes or sandals on those treks where you might get wet, I definitely suggest you get these. Even during a rain storm, the traction on these shoes was great. Water may get in, but it also doesn't stay in very long due to the mesh. It is also casual enough as regular shoes for street use. These are wide in the toe area. Best pair of hiking/water sports shoes I've had so far.

I love these shoes, especially for the price I got them. They have been worn in the river and to the lake. Extremely handy in the state of Michigan. The water ran right out of them, the sand hung around, but as soon as they dried the sand came right out. Extremely comfortable. I usually wear a 7.5 I ordered a 7 and they fit perfect without any socks. Thanks for the excellent price and the fun gear. Dana

I got these shoes thinking that they would come in handy for my trip to Zion through the narrows. These were fantastic! They protected my feet while giving great traction through the water and bed of rocks. They were very nicely cushioned and dried out quickly. I would get another pair in the future!

I took my new amphibs for a week long canoe/camping trip in Quetico Provincial Park and I loved them! They are lightweight and dry quickly, but they’re sturdy enough for long rugged portages. There was a lot less water in my part of the canoe than my companions. I would definitely recommend these shoes. The slip on feature is great for walking around camp.

I CANNOT STRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE THESE SHOES. These are the second pair I've bought, not because the other ones wore out, but because I'm a girl and I like to match. I wore these shoes for three weeks straight in Costa Rica and they were perfect! All the hikes we went on always ended up in water at some point and while everyone was hoping from rock to rock trying to keep their shoes dry (unsuccessfully) I was in the water helping them across. They are great hiking shoes because there are no open gaps like the Keen brand so your feet are protected from debris in the trail. The only thing is that when you're walking through a river, sometimes the tiniest rocks get thru the small holes, but then they just go straight to the bottom of the shoe because there are little holes in the cover on the sole. Also, if you are just around the camp site and don't feel like putting your shoe all the way on, the heel folds down easily so you can just slip them on. Highly Recommended!!!

I love these shoes! I just bought a second pair. They are great for kayaking - the water drains right off and my feet don't feel soggy. The rugged soles are perfect for rocky portages, and they are so light I barely remember I'm wearing them.

These are great shoes. Comfortable, stable, airy, quick drying, cute. Great to be able to mash down the heels for a quick trip outside the tent. Good on the trail (pretty easy trail but w/ 25lb kid on my back). I want to buy a second pair for when the first pair wears out. Note: For the first few days the tongue of the shoes dug into my ankles. Luckily, they loosened up and now are fine.

I am really happy with these shoes! I bought them because I work at a kid's summer camp that requires that we have closed-toe shoes. I wanted something that would last, be comfortable, be versatile and look great—this shoe does it all! I recommend it. I am always happy with this brand, no matter what sport I am using it for. These are great!

This is the only pair of sneaker-type footwear I have ever worn that are comfortable without socks. I can wear them around all day, then hop on my bike and (they fit great in the toe cages) go for a long ride with no blisters. I have not worn them in the water but have sweated in them plenty and they are very breathable. I have not taken advantage of the "slip-on" feature, it doesn't seem too comfortable. Not to mention, these are so cute I can't wait to buy another pair in a different color.

...the world would be a happier place. These shoes are flat out the best water shoes I have ever had! Taking 36 teenagers on 4 day camping trips in SW VA can take its toll on any shoe—but this Amphibian takes it all in like a walk in the park. Five hour treks up steep rocky slopes on an 8-mile AT hike—no sweat. Creek walking through a primitive Indian village—gravy. White water rafting the Nola Chucky River on one of the highest volume days on record—breezy. Breaking camp at 8:30pm in the middle of a tropical storm—its all in a days work, my friend! And all this with very little break-in time; that is pure perfection. Solomon better never discontinue this line, this is one Amphibian made to last! Nicole G.

I just got these shoes a couple of weeks ago for my backpacking trip to Europe, I broke them in wearing them to work where I stand all day on my feet. My feet have not hurt once since I started using them at work. I can't wait for my trip to see how well they do there.

A good friend recently replaced a pair of her tech amphibians. When I saw her new pair, I was reminded of how much I liked the style and design. I ordered my own pair that day and haven't taken them off since they were delivered! They are so comfortable and can be worn for hard core outdoor activities or for running errands around town. Either way I am feeling and looking good!

I absolutely love these shoes. I've been looking for a shoe that would work for paddling and these are them. They were a great price and I couldn't pass them up. They do run about a size too big, but they have many adjustment options. I love that I can slip them on without having to worry about the heel.. I highly recommend these shoes!

I ordered these for my wife in anticipation for hiking the 13 mile trek through the narrows in Zion National Park. Half the journey was in 2 - 4 feet of water. The amphibians did well, and so did her feet! No problems. Her one piece of criticism is focused on the heel/rear shoe fastener. She complained that it lossened up to easily and often, making stops for re-tightening several times. Otherwise...Awesome shoes.
