Salomon Techamphibian Sandal - Men's
The Salomon Men's Techamphibian Shoes make a smooth transition between land and water—ideal for river guides, kayakers, or anyone else tapping into their inner amphibious nature. These technical water shoes protect your feet like a shoe, yet drain like a sandal. The synthetic mesh upper and Quickfit lacing won't absorb water, so you don't have to carry around extra weight until your shoes dry. The adjustable, convertible heel folds out of the way when you need a slip on for a quick jaunt out of your tent in the middle of the night. The Techamphibian Sandal's Contagrip sole grips slippery rocks or dirt to keep you upright.
Bottom Line: Combining the best properties of shoes and sandals, the Salomon Techamphibian feels at home in the water or on dry land.

I recently used these for an few days of canoeing and camping in the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota. They were great for portaging from lake to lake and made it easy to get into the canoe and hop back out. I also thought they were really comfortable.
However, there is a down side. They didn't dry quite as quickly as I thought they would, which isn't a big deal but kind of annoying. The second thing I have seen a few different posts - pebbles, sand, and small rocks. The would get into your shoes and I had a hard time getting them back out.
I'm also slightly concerned on how long they are going to last. I have a little spot that looks like it is rubbing and tearing slightly. I'm hoping they hold up because I really like using them, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Great shoes! Feel great in and out of water. Only downside is that they let in lots of little pebbles/sand and difficult that are difficult to remove w/o taking them off. Good purchase for anyone who is around water. You can even swim in them.

These shoes managed to make it through four weeks of hard wear in Costa Rica. Either white water rafting, swimming in the Caribbean with volcanic rocks or hiking through numerous types of terrain, including many rain forests, the shoes handled all they types with ease and durability. Drying time generally consisted of about two days but the humidity and water in Costa Rica are more than average (180 inches of rain and 100% humidity). The only bummer I can think of is that they tend to gather a little smell after a while (which I rectified by wearing socks with them every so often) and get sand in them rather quickly. Overall amazing

These things are amazing. One of the best clothing purchases I've ever made. These shoes are super functional. If you loosen the back straps, you can push the back down and make it function like real sandals... but it may damage the back end after a while--it happened to me. They dry extremely fast, and they feel good in the water. If you tighten all of the straps, they compact down to about half-size, which is perfect for travel packing. I'd buy these again, and I recommend them to friends

Comfortable shoe. Very little break in time. Surpisingly very little sand got into and stayed in the shoe. Easy clean up with the hose at home.

Got these for a trip I was taking to the BVI. The were perfect to travel with (very light and collapsible), great for hikes (good support and cushion), and perfect for a carefree stroll through a rainstorm (water drains right out of them).
However, their one shortcoming is that these are not beach shoes. Sand gets in them VERY quickly, and once it's in, you've got to take them off and wash them to get it out.
Barring that one disclaimer - and the observation that they do not keep your feet warm if you are in cooler climes - these are great all-around summer hiking/outdoors shoes.
I didn't have any issues with chafing or a bad smell as reported by other users - and that's wearing them barefoot most of the time.
The lace up system is great, and the collapsible heel makes them perfect as deck loafers.
Bottom line - very versatile, very comfortable, and great styling. Highly recommended!

I bought pair of these five years ago, used them for playing ultimate, watersports and hiking, they finally fell apart after all that abuse, I went to buy a new pair and I thought they were being discontinued, I found a pair this year and just took them on the appalachian trail, and they worked great. I have a pair of salomon trail shoes that look similar and are lined with gore tex, while they are fine and keep your feet dry, if you do get your feet wet, they'll stay wet for a while, with these, they get wet easily, but dry very quickly, they're my favorite shoes, for running, hiking and anything outdoors.

This is the second pair of Solomon sandals I have owned but the first I have ordered from this site. The transaction was very smooth...the shoes showed up in a few days and were as I ordered them. I love these shoes and will definitely continue to shop here. TA

I love these shoes! They are light but provide good support, excellent traction on wet rocks and are sturdy enough to function as lightweight hikers or trail runners. The toe box could be a little roomier, but after a little break in it's fine. The only negative gripe I have is that the strap that tightens around the heel tends to loosen after a while and every few hours I need to reach down a pull the strap tight again. This is the reason I'm giving them a 4 instead of a 5. I will definitely buy these shoes again.

These things surprised me straight out of the box! They are made from anti-microbial material which really does keep them from smelling... they can be worn as shoes or as strapless, slip-on sandals for amazing convenience... and they perform better than advertised. These things got me through some crazy Montana stream crossings (i.e. excellent traction from my experiences), and I am excited to use them back home in Florida for hiking in wet conditions, canoeing, disc golf in swampy courses, fishing on the Gulf, and even biking on rainy days.

I bought these to hike the Buckskin Gulch slot canyon. I went just after some heavy rains and walked almost the whole way in knee deep water. These shoes started to fall apart after 3 days. The mesh sides came away and tore away from the last. This allowed small rocks in and I had to stop every hour to remove them . I returned them for a refund.

I bought this shoe to use as a camp shoe after long hikes. It is reasonably light, has a sturdy outsole, and above all, is very comfortable - especially after a long hike. You can convert it to a slide-on, which is handy if you've developed any blisters on the trail. It breathes well and is an excellent water shoe. The adjustable heal strap and quick zip lace system ensure a nice snug fit. Highly recommended.

Bought these sandals for my trip down to Zion National and Bryce Canyon. Wow! You can do everything in these shoes. From wading through water to hiking to scrambling. Wear them with or without socks. They are very true to size as well. Easy to slip on and can be worn loosely for just kickin it or tighten 'em up with the easy-to-use lacing system. Just remember to pull the back strap tight too.

I have found these shoes to be very comfortable along with outstanding performance around water. They dry quickly and maintain good foot support. Well designed shoe in my opinion.

These sandals are perfect! Excellent for use as designed in the water but they are surprisingly comfortable for general use also. I am on my feet all day in a bike shop and i wear them all day long. They are sort of an ultra-breathable all purpose outdoor shoe. They are super comfortable in the water and dry land, all day at work and everywhere else. The sole has a ton of traction and have good support, protection and good arch support.
I really do love these shoes and you will not be disappointed!

As much as I love summer, it sucks to have to put on shoes if you're going to anything more than just bumming around. I love my flip flops, but sometimes they just won't cut the mustard when it comes to my outdoor adventures. If you've ever found yourself with such a predicament, look no further, the answer to your problems is right in front of you, and you will not be disappointed. I love these shoes. So does my father. If you ski you know Solomon makes a good product, and now you can turn to them in the Summer too. Don't feel like throwing on those fly waders? These will help you get through any fast moving stream with algaed rocks and won't get stuck in the mucky areas. Any time its hot and you need some support, turn to these trusty friends- they'll come in only second to your dog.

I like the Techamphibian enough to have purchased a second pair. Durability has exceeded expectations and, after adding a more supportive insole, they have served as surefooted, breathable and comfortable footwear for everything from gym workouts to warm weather dayhikes in Zion and Yosemite. My only nitpick is the toggle type lacing system which works loose and needs re-tightening periodically.

This is a great water shoe. They have been through rivers and on beaches and drain really well. They are even comfortable enough to wear all day. My only complaint is that the laces are a bit long, but they tuck away pretty easily.

All to often, I buy something, wear it out and buy a "new and improved" or updated version of that same thing, only to be sorely dissapointed. Not this time! I had my first pair of Techamphibians for about two years and lived in those darn things. Took them everywhere and did *almost* everything in them. When they finally died, I worried that I would never be able to replace them.
I ordered the new ones and after one day, I felt like I was back in the same shoes, again. These are sturdy, durable, and comfortable shoes. Off-road, under water and on pavement, they give solid traction and suppport, breath very well, and dry out quickly. I am particularly pleased with the wet weather traction of this shoe, too.
If you don't own a pair of these, you're missing out.

Awesome shoes. Nice features. The 4 year engineering degree from MIT is a little bit of an inconvenience if you ever want to replace those cool laces though.

I have always trusted Salomon for all of my outdoor needs. Rain or sunshine their product has always come through for me. Their product is built with a passion and a deep love for the outdoors. The Techamphibian Sandal is not just another water shoe. It’s versatile and comfortable, and is built to last.

These have worked for hiking, trail running, and canyoneering. They even make good camp slippers/clogs as the heel folds down flat. Good traction on all surfaces, stable for running, drain quick when wet but unlike some similar shoes don't fill with sand as quickly. Definitely not for narrow feet.

These have mesh sides to keep all but the smallest gravel out, unlike sandals, which I won't wear. Very supportive sole is so sticky, it is somewhat difficult to move the tiller on my K1 - I may have to remove the no-slip strip on the footboard. They’re very comfortable for walking on slippery surfaces. They can be worn with or without socks, as there is an adjustable strap on the heel, you can cinch it tighter if you have no socks on. Restrained styling is a relief to my eyes.

My husband and I just returned from vacation in Costa Rica. I purchased these shoes specifically for our adventure and they were prefect! My husband actually wants to order a couple more pairs just to have on hand.
They are lightweight and great for all outdoor activities, especially those in which you will get wet. We found that our shoes dried out very quickly and were actually quite comfortable.
I highly recommend these shoes, and this site has the best price I found on the web!!

These shoes are excellent. I just completed a week of backcountry kayak camping in the Everglades. From rocks to muck, there are many different bottom types. I never slipped or even had the feeling that my shoes were going to get sucked off of my feet. An hour or so in the sun was all that it took to dry them completely.

This is my second pair of tech amphib. Sizing down a half size from my Nike running shoes, these provide a secure fit. Last year I hiked many miles through Costa Rica. The terrain was rugged and often wet, but the shoes prompted no complaints. They are supremely lightweight and though they do not provide any wetness protection, they do not hold water either—which means stream crossings become a non-issue. I even spent some time hiking in the Whites of NH this fall. With the right pair of socks, these shoes are great even when temperatures are pretty cool.

These are great pair of shoes. They have great airflow for hiking and are durable. If you’re a rock climber, you'll love slipping these on between climbs. If it’s a little wet out, you'll rarely slide on these treads. I’ve never been happier with a pair of shoes. The only complaint is that the buckle hits your ankle when it is in fold down position. The fix is to not wear them as tight, which is easy with the quick-laces. The sole airflow is almost nonexistent, so still wear socks people!

These are great shoes. I hiked with them in the Narrows in Zion National Park, Utah. The trail is basically the Virgin river, so you are in the river about 90 % of the hike, and these shoes together with some Seal Skin socks held up to the challenge.

The shoes seem well-made, but it was consistently uncomfortable on the top of my foot. Although this is more of a running shoe than Keen Newport H2's, you can't really run in either, the H2's are more comfortable water shoes.

Tried these shoes on a long weekend canoe trip on the upper Potomac. They had a sturdy sole, good traction, excellent draining qualities and easy on and off. One negative was some heal scrapping when wearing them barefoot after extended shore time. Thankfully, regular and neoprene socks fit well given the adjustable heal. Another trade off is, despite the quick drying upper, the very comfortable insole takes almost as long to dry as a tennis shoe. Thus, the advertised use as a slip on camp shoe is only true if you don't mind it still being wet even after overnight drying. Overall, I would still recommend this shoe as a superior choice for rocky bottoms and shores, particularly over the thin sole versions of many water shoes and boots.

I'm a fish farmer so I wear these shoes all day, every day.
I love them.
One PROBLEM.
The sole doesn't stay bonded to the bootie. If you are a weekend yuppy they are GREAT. For a working man, they need to address the adhesive. The shoe is very durable but when the soles fall off after 4 months it’s not too good.
