Rome Targas - wicked!!

By: bdphotoz1878486(1)

Bought the Targas to ride with my Never Summer Premier T5. First thing that struck me when I ordered them was value for money. When they finally arrived things that struck me were - shedload of adjustments and a shedload of bling. Now I don't like bling, so I was glad I grabbed the 'lower key' black colour scheme and once I'd pulled apart and rebuilt them, I had a good handle on them for once the fun began. I rode them for three weeks solid in Japan, for my preferred style of riding - flat strap with plenty hard carving, and my board, they suited well. Hanging out in the park, pants around knees, binding maybe not so suitable. Main components held up well, fun to make some small adjustments and test performance each day, nice and comfortable, toe-cap or over-toe option was nice, my only complaint was simply cosmetic. The faux leather over-straps which strap ends slide into as binding is tightened, rapidly wore on my rear foot from stiff plastic catching when cranking binding in very cold or very excited states. Broke within a week or so, nothing major but a more robust fitting could be expected on an otherwise tough peice of hardware. Overall - good price, superb features, stiff binding that does it's job nicely, happy to crank up and lean onto the front leg sometime soon.

Not impressed.

I got to ride these this season and I was less than impressed. The transmission from body, boot and board was so slow, I felt in the deep stuff that I was so off balance. The strap came undone on the way to the lift, and after two runs, I swapped them out for another set of bindings. Really seemed kind of cheap. Not the best binding I have ever ridden.

So Comfy

Lots of things to say about these binders, versatility, adjustability and a wicked look. (I recommend the black set) Believe me that it has these things in spades, but what really got me, was the comfort. Strap in and enjoy. The straps (including an improved toe strap) mesh so well with the boots. The underwrap heelhoop is everything Rome says. And kudos on the auto straps. A rubber band that pulls the ankle strap open... So simple, it's beautiful. Everything I want and nothing I don't need.

i love these bindings. when i first got them it took me around 3 hours to custom fit everything to my liking. this wasn't because they were difficult to use, just that there are so many features for you to adjust and it is well worth it. best price on the internet.

BAMF

These bindings are sick. They have all the right materials in all the right places. Composite baseplate with damping heel inserts. Metal rails and heelcup transfer superfast. And the little things matter too, the easy entry flaps that hold the ankle strap open make entry easy and fast. Some of the colors are ugly as hell (looks like a first grader colored them), but I guess thats the way things are going these days. Ride em.

Have it your way

A stiff binding by design. Great for big mountain riding. However so many adjustments you can make to tailor to your ride. Spend the time setting up the binding to your specs. It is well worth it.

Having owned burton and forum bindings previously, i was kinda unsure what i was getting with the Rome Targa's. These bindings are far superior to either the burton and the ride. I can tighten them up as much as i can and i still cant feel any pressure points on my feet! Its like the arnt even there. They respond to my movements faster than any other binding ive ever had.

Swiss Army Binding

Binding are ridiculous. If there's anything that needs tweaking, there's a way to do it. Most can be done on-mountain and I was even able to make some mods going up the lift with gloves on. Great if you have a riding style that needs real minor tweaks.
