Red Hi-Fi Audex Subwoofer Helmet

Bumping your tunes is good. Bumping your head and sustaining a season-ending concussion is bad. The RED Hi-Fi Subwoofer Helmet does the former while preventing the latter. The Hi-Fi helmet's 3.5mm connector works with your iPod, MP3 player, and those things from the nineties … ahh … CD players. The Hi-Fi Audex Subwoofer Helmet's ultralight construction won't make you feel like you're wearing a bowling ball. The Zip Clip ratcheting buckle provides a custom fit, and it's easy to use with gloves on. A removable goggle gasket (a strip of fabric between the helmet rim and your goggles) prevents the gaper look and forehead frostbite. *Available for US Shipment Only.

Bottom Line: Strap on the Red Hi-Fi for feather-light, comfortable head protection and quality sound.

RED Audio Helmet is weak

By:
March 3, 2008

I bought the RED Audio Helmet this year and had problems on the first day. The mute button stuck about half way through the first day. From the beginning the on/off switch was reversed. The helmet worked when in the off position instead of on. Also, the down volume button did not work at all. Either I received a lemon or they just have poor quality control.

The nicest helmet i've ever owned. Very light weight and comfortable yet extremely strong and durable. Not to mention the awesome kick from the subwoofer. Makes for a great ride!!

One ear bandit!

By:

I bought this Helmet, because it has a subwoofer for that punch of bass! So they claim. So I ordered it, shipping was free, and it came pretty fast 3 days! I thought great I'm going bording tomorrow, Just in time. Well I took it out of the box, pluged it into my ipod, and only 1 ear played. All I could hear coming from the right ear was a faint crackel. My saving grace has been that I called this place up, and they were very helpful. They asked if I wanted another Helmet of the same type that worked? or would I like my money back? I opted to get my money back. Because on top of not working! the helmit made me look like I should have been an extra in star wars.

Don't buy this helmet

By:

I made the mistake of buying this helmet. Do not buy this helmet for the tunes. In plain words it sucks. The volume is horrible and the sound quality is worse. The helmet is a good helmet, but if that is what you are looking for just buy a helmet. This thing is woefully overrated and I promise you that if you buy it you will be terribly disappointed. However I must say if you are going to buy something, buy from backcountry.com, they are by far the best vendor. They returned my stuff no questions asked!

hi-fi? yeah right...

first of all, i bought this helmet after looking around the web for about 5 days. when it arrived i was sourly dissappointed. it was not as comfortable as expected, and the sound quality was poor. the bass was also very dissappointing. i suggest buying a smith helmet or a giro. sound quality isnt any better, but they are more comfortable.

ROCK YOUR HELMET!!!

By:
October 4, 2007

The HI-FI Helmet is by far the lightest and most comfortable helmet I have ever owned!! Be warned though that if your looking at purchasing it the Matte Black doesn't have any graphics on it. . . just black! Other then that the Skullcandy bass really makes cruising the slopes nice!! I can finally block out all the Gapers!!

Dude, what's up with the sound?

By:

The helmet fit well and was really light, but it did look a little "bobble-headish". My Oakley Wisdoms also fit funny with my XL helmet and were uncomfortable. The main problem I had with this helmet was the Audex built-in speakers. The cord plug was loose when plugged into the jack on the helmet and the speakers kept crackling and the sound from the right speaker would cut in and out. Really annoying! The guy at the local board shop said he had problems with about 1 in 4 Audex helmets he sold. It seems to be hit and miss on the quality of the speaker system.

Skiing/riding in luxury

The entire RED line of Audex helmets are fabulous; they are almost weightless, warm when that's what you want, well-ventilated, and wired for sound. They fit well, and are very adjustable, and easily so.

By far the lightest helmet I've ever put on. Has a nice goggle channel to keep your goggs in place. Comfortable with perfect peripheral vision. The headphones sound great and have a handy volume control on the cord. The one touch mute button is by far my favorite thing about it.

Tunes !

Love my Hi Fi Helmet. I had zero issues with my Oakley Crowbar goggles fitting with it perfectly. The helmet fits very well, and the chin strap is comfy and easy to get on and off. The headphones are very loud, I usually turn my ipod all the way up and control the volume with the switch on the chord. The mute button is easily used with your gloves on to turn the music off to talk to someone or not to if they are trying to ask you where to find powder.
