Prijon Touryak Kayak w/o Rudder - 2007
The Prijon Touryak has a wonderful blend of stability, comfort, and performance in a compact scale. You can venture on the open ocean, out on lakes, and down lazy rivers. Very well suited for day and multi-day excursions. The Touryak provides straight tracking and amazing maneuverability due to the smaller scale. Features include an adjustable seat with pad, thigh brace, and back brace with cover for comfortable, extended expeditions. Hatches, bow & stern, combine neoprene, hard plastic and quick-release webbing straps for dry, easy use. The bow deck pack net organizes those small essential items, and the well placed deck lines aid in the event of a self-rescue. The ergonomic carrying handles make loading and unloading a snap. I've had my Touryak for a year and a half. It's a very good Kayak to start with...fairly stable. I fish off of my kayak with ease...I don't have to exert any effort to balance myself. It's also very maneuverable for its length. I rarely use my rudder and could probably paddle without it for the most part...but it does help on choppy and windy conditions. As far as speed goes, don't expect it to perform as good as any composite of the same length...its average in speed if you were to compare it to another plastic touring kayak. It's a good vessel to multi-day trip on. I've packed it with camping gear, approx. 150lbs of gear and it performed well. If you plan to portage with this kayak, forget it! I would invest on a kayak kart. At 58lbs, prepare to have an aching back after resting this beast over your shoulder for 5 minutes over rough terrain. However, the HTP plastic is super durable...I expect my Touryak to last me at least 12 years. The plastic is so thick and stiff, there is no sign of oil-canning. Overall, the construction is far superior to most plastic kayaks. Performance is average. Comfort is good. It's worth the price.
Stable and Straight

The Touryak is very stable and goes straight without much hassle. With the cargo storage and external straps this would be an excellent choice for long day trip or weeklong expeditions.

Well, I've never actually 'tasted' the Touryak, but it's a fun boat on the water! Fairly stable for a newcomer to the sport and totally maneuverable--tracks great and easy to paddle. I was stoked to rip around on this thing for a while. Can't wait to try it on an overnighter.
