Polar CS400 Cycling Heart Rate Monitor

Your titanium bike frame seems to have upgraded your competitive cycling attitude. The next step is increasing your training efficiency with the Polar CS400 Cycling Heart Rate Monitor. The CS400 measures incline and decline steepness in percentages and grades so you can realize that that seemingly Everest-sized hill at the end of your ride is actually just as big as the ones toward the beginning. Set limits on your heart rate so you know when you're pushing your limits and when you've recovered enough for the next interval. The CS400 measures current, average, and max speed, and you can prepare a detailed training program with the included Polar ProTrainer 5 software (for Windows). *Included bike mount, multifunctional handle bar / stem installation.

Bottom Line: How steep are your hills?

Don't Buy Polar CS400

By:
July 12, 2008

I bought this after serious research into all the features. Out of the box you can tell this is trouble - setup is painful, the parts look and feel like they will break. Everything from the instructions to the website is just not smooth. After spending hours setting this thing up - it didn't work (speed sensor had no signal -- tech support was VERY familiar with this problem). I decided to send it all back (including the aftermarket stuff to make this work on a mac) -- and went with the garmin egde 305 instead (which works great, and looks built to last). Hopefully you will read this and spare yourself the time -- do NOT buy the Polar CS400.
