Does a heart rate (wristwatch) monitor exist without a chest strap?

This particular watch will work just fine without the HR monitor strap as long as you don't want to keep track of your HR. If you are asking if there is a watch out there that tracks HR without using a chest strap the answer is no, at least not with any consistency.

I love my new watch. It has so many qualities and informatio that it gives you regarding your training that you have to really study the manual to capture everything that this watch offers you. The only comment I have is that it is definately a RUNNING WATCH ONLY!!I am also a swimmer, and in the water, it does not work. Yes it keeps up the time, but it dosen´t do much of what it does on land, so do not expect much from it in the water... otherwise is a great running watch....I highly recomend it....besides, it looks so cool on.....it is a conversation piece....
