Polar RS200 Heart Rate Monitor

Ready to sign up for your first marathon? The Polar RS200 Heart Rate Monitor gives you an event countdown timer among many other features to help keep you on track for race day. The RS200 keeps track of your heart rate, calories burned, exercise date, and target zones so you can get the most out of your training run. The Interval Trainer on the RS200 lets you create and name your favorite workout based on time and heart rate with up to three linked timers and up to three target zones. Speaking of target zones, this Polar heart rate monitor will tell you when you've hit yours both visually and audibly.

Bottom Line: The Polar RS200 Heart Rate Monitor will keep you on track for your first race and sticks with you to your last.

Beware

Thought I'd mention the Polar RS200 I bought came with the T31 coded transmitter which is not pictured above the one above is the WearLink a much more comfortable model. To the heart of the matter I really haven't used my Polar RS200 to its full potential, but when I did I was very happy with the features. It also makes a wonderful everyday watch and has taken its share of abuse.

How do these things work? Does is just get the pulse from your wrist, or do you have to touch sensors on the watch with your fingers?

Neither, there is a strap that you wear around your midsection, just below your chest, and it transmits your heart rate to the watch with a wireless signal.

Enhanced Workouts!

By:

Having a HR monitor has completely amped up my workouts! I have a much better handle on my level of effort and know whether or not to back off and slow down or put a little more energy into my pace! I just ran another 5K and was able to leave everything I had on the road and take first place in my age division b/c I could tell there was still more in me I could give based on my HR. Marathon #3 in Chicago, here I come!

A lot of my running friends have had issues with the build quality of the nike watches, bands breaking and the like, I would personally go with a polar or a timex.
