Polar RS200sd Heart Rate Monitor
Get a training partner that won't talk and will tell you everything you need to know about your training runs—the Polar RS200sd Heart Rate Monitor. Not only can you track your heart rate zones throughout your run, you can combine this with speed and distance data as the included S1 foot pod tracks these important functions. Use the Event Countdown Timer to track your progress up to your next race. After a hard run, jump in the water for a quick swim and leave the RS200sd on as it's water resistant up to 50 meters.
Bottom Line: The Polar RS200sd Heart Rate Monitor will be the smartest training partner you've ever had.

Can the battery be changed by the owner? Or does it have to be sent back to Polar for a battery change?

If you don't want to void the warranty then you need to send it back to Polar. That being said the battery will last longer than the 2 year warranty so if you're brave and have some very small screwdrivers you can replace it yourself. I have done this successfully on my S710 several times now. The battery was a little tough to find, but I found a battery specialty shop that carried this medical grade battery. One thing to be careful of, when lifting off the back of the watch there is a rubber gasket that keeps the water out, just make sure it is seated correctly when you put it back together.

Before I bought a HR monitor watch I researched a ton. Suunto's came in a close second but the footpod seemed to be more reliable and accurate with the polar technology and the chest strap is much smaller and less noticeable when wearing compared to the Suunto. I also bought this over the higher end models as it is much more low profile and friendly towards being able to wear it in public and not looking like a freak. 4 stars because it could look a little better.

It will show it in different views. You can however customize it to show any certain two in one window.

I've had this for almost a month now. The first one I got had a defective food pod. One quick phone call to backcountry and an exchange was set up. They even paid for the return shipping. Great customer service.
Anyway, I was skeptical at first that it would actually be able to measure an accurate distance. After a few runs with it to figure out how to use it and what settings I wanted, I did two foot pod calibration runs. After calibration it was accurate to about a 100th of a mile. Heart rate sensor adapts closely to the chest, unlike the older plastic strapped ones. Great for skinnier people like me. My only real complaint about it is that the buttons can be a bit annoying to press. you have to push them down too far for my liking and there is no definite click to let you know it's down enough. Not a big deal just an annoyance.
