Pacific Outdoor Equipment SL Lite Sleeping Pad

The Pacific Outdoor Equipment InsulMat SL-Lite Sleeping Pad takes the innovations of the Hyper-Lite series pads and applies it to an even lighter weight, full closed-cell foam pad. Combining PE foam and EVA shoulder and hip inserts, the SL-Lite provides added cushioning and warmth to crucial areas. At a mere 12.5-ounces, this three-season mat provides a level of lightweight comfort the backcountry has never witnessed.

Bottom Line: The Pacific Outdoor Equipment SL-Lite Sleeping Pad shaves off ounces and leaves you feeling rested.

My Favorite Pad

By:

I have been using this brand of pad since 2005, and I have used it far more than any other pad I have owned. That being said, the SL Lite is an ultralight pad and probably isn't going to give you the comfort or warmth you get from a bulkier pad "3 season". My favorite thing about this pad is that it does roll up very small. Also at this price I can afford to replace it almost every season if it gets beat up too bad. Cons of this pad are that it is too long, for a spring summer pad it doesn't need to be full length. I have cut mine down to 3/4 length and I only carry the bottom piece on cold nights, in which case I put it under my shoulders. I've used this pad in the Sierras and Banff and on a couple PCT sections. I really like it.

Not a main pad

This is thin, hard foam. I got this for extra protection, already owning an insulated inflatable pad. It helps keep stuff dry and makes a good floor mat for tents and is extremely light weight.

my back hurts

By:
September 16, 2007

I bought a different model but is very similar in thickness and design to this pad. I thought it would be excellent because it was lightweight and inexpensive. I'm now shopping for something else. I just got back from deer hunting because I couldn't take another night waking from back pain. I need a new pad before I can go back out for the rest of my hunt. I would go to bed around 9pm and get up around 5:45 am and I still felt tired because I didn't sleep well.

not too bad...

i think with this pad, you get what you pay for. Its not real thick, so when camping spots were a little rocky-you definitely felt them. But it wasn't too bad, i was wantin something inexpensive cause i can sleep through a hurricane.Sooo, its not the best pad but its tough, light, and cheap. its totally your preference-read a lot of reviews,i'd recommend it if you sleep easy.
